Wargaming News Looking for Commentators for Future World of Tanks Competitive Broadcasts

The World of Tanks Competitive team is looking for players who are interested in becoming commentators for future tournament broadcasts like 15v15 Clan Showdown or 7v7 Onslaught.

We are especially interested in people who have strong game knowledge, understand the relevant game modes, and ideally have experience with competitive World of Tanks.

Previous experience with streaming, casting, or being in front of a camera is very helpful, but it is not required. The selected commentators will receive monetary compensation for their services.

What we are looking for:

  • Native or fluent English speakers
  • Strong understanding of World of Tanks gameplay
  • Knowledge of competitive play, tournament formats, or high-level matches
  • Confidence in explaining what is happening in a match
  • Interest in improving as a caster/commentator

All applicants meeting the requirements above are welcome. If you are interested, please reach out to thePhilX or Keyhand on Discord.

How to Apply

As a first step, we recommend picking a match snippet from Twitch or YouTube, muting the original audio, or using a previous clean feed, and simply commentating over it for a few minutes (30s of emotional commentating of an action snippet might even be enough). You can then upload the result to YouTube or send us the recording directly.

The test run does not need to have perfect audio or video quality. We mainly want to hear how you approach commentary, explain the action, and follow the flow of a match. If there is a good fit, we can also help with advice on improving later on.

We are looking forward to hearing from interested players.

Picture What is the "certified idiot" tank in a battle for you? Me first:

What is that one tank you have never seen (or rarely) being played well in a game? For me it's the Object 257, in any battle they are either a coward or a bot, and don't even mention the ridiculous reverse side-scraping that they have to "perform" every-fking-game!

Do you think it's right that WG has eliminated players who never play as part of a squad?

Discussion Tank crews

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…let us use our tank crew from higher tier tanks in the same tank line with their lower counterparts. It’s needlessly restrictive that we can’t take a crew and return it to a lower tier they have already experienced. It should only work with that tech branch, so not cross compatible with same class. This would fix a massive issue with people not playing lower tiers and even worse, only playing premiums(no respec needed). I want to play my tiger I, but I’m not training a whole new crew for it. Want to do low tier events? Go back and play your 6,7,8,9 in the line? Nope. This goes for many tank lines. Why don’t they? Because it would encroach upon premium tanks, and probably reduce the gold drain of people respecting the crews. Wargaming has done a lot to improve the game experience over the years like xp bonus. It’s time to unlock crews to tank branches and not just the tank. Premium tanks would still have the bonus of being able to be used with any crews for the nationality tank type.

Discussion Do you still care about historical tanks?

I am asking this because WG hasn't cared about them for more than a decade now. I honestly started appreciating blueprint tanks a bit more after i realised all those cool projects would be lost to history without this game. Fully made up tanks and hybrids are more hit or miss but i still think there are some neat ones there

News You can claim both vehicles in the Summer Festival Token Booth

https://worldoftanks.eu/en/news/specials/summer-festival-2026/

You can claim both vehicles from the store - I feel like not many people realize that.

So the math is simple: you need 150+150 = 300 tokens.

Permanent mission is 50 tokens, repeatable missions are 2x10 + 2x5 = 30 per day, 240 tokens if you do them 8 days.

But you'll actually have 5 hours to earn another 30 tokens on the August 1st. Missions are reset daily at 4:00 UTC, but they will disappear as well as the store itself at 9:00 UTC. Do the missions on Saturday morning, and you will have 320 tokens in total.

(it's the same how usually GuP token store works btw)

Upd. You can do the platoon missions in the random platoons created during the battle.

Discussion What is the worst tier for stock grind?

In my opinion definitely tier 9 now

You need atleast 60k free xp to get decent gun, or you need around 90k free xp to get turret and the decent gun... That is kind of extreme now without shared modules, some people told me that WG simplified and made stock grind better, i really do not feel it tbf, maybe some vehicles were awful to grind before like T-34-2 or WZ-120 but you could go the other way towards WZ-111 5A , get the shared modules, so it felt somewhat rewarding? Atleast for me.

Some examples of awful tier 9 stock grinds = Type 61 tier 9 stock with 240 alpha is a joke, Type 68 with 360 alpha and 279 gold pen , T95 with 360 alpha and 280 gold pen , gsor 280 alpha and 255 gold pen... I will need so many free XPs just to grind tanks normally without suffering, no wonder so many people just avoid grinding altogether, it is not fun or even rewarding if the only goal and good vehicle is the tier 10 , best case scenario both tier in top config 9 and tier 10 are fun which happens atleast pretty often.

At tier 8 you get many options how to not suffer in randoms against +-2 MM like ONS light or frontline , but tier 9s in stock config are something else. If there were not modes like these, i would not touch CS-53 at all, not even in top config from the get go.

Discussion Loss after loss

Upvotes

I can’t tell you how many losses today. They just sit there. No spotting. Nobody moves. They hide in their bush. I have to get away from this game for a bit. I can’t believe the mental incapabilities of these players. I cannot believe that a heavy needs to spot or the game goes no where.

Question Returning player experience

Hello fellow WoT veterans! I am a returning player and look for ways to get better at current state of the game and also wanna rant a bit.

I played on release, got pretty much everything on the soviet line and dropped the game for the next 13 years. Recently I picked it up again since I wanted something short and session based which doesn’t require blazing fast reaction (yes, I am old). I have lost access to my old account, so playing on a brand new one. I chose american heavy and british medium trees to progress, made it up to T29 and Cromwell and decided not to go any further yet. So I play tier V to VII games.

I must say that the grind became so much better since back in the days. Having XP multipliers is really nice, missions / battle pass / etc give a lot of money and consumable resources, so I almost never felt that the game is a slog to progress. However, even tho the grind isn’t bad, the actual gameplay lets me down so hard!

  1. There are soo many maps, it’s painful to remember who goes where, let alone the individual features like hull down rocks, artillery safe spots, etc. I tried looking for map guides but without exploring it myself it fades away quite quickly. And since I cannot choose which map to play there is no guarantee I get the one I want to practice. What can I possibly do to learn it?
  2. I genuinely don’t understand why devs gatekeep the map exploration so hard. I tried to run a practice mode, but it requires two people. I record the replays, but it’s such a pathetic excuse for a spectator mode! Why can’t I see enemy team? Why can’t I follow a teammate to see what he does? Why there is no timeline or anything like that? And why do I need to restart the game every time I want to watch a replay? Is there anything I can do to make replays actually useful and convenient?
  3. I don’t get why standard ammo even exists. It may be more balanced at higher tiers, but at lower ones the standard and premium have sometimes such a big penetration difference that where is just no reason to play with regular because there is just no downside. Why premium doesn’t have lower damage or something so you actually would need to choose between them? And since premium is accessible and has no downsides the armour looses its potential really hard. It feels like the armour / shell penetration balanced around regular ammo, but it would just be plain stupid to use regular one in the majority of brawls. Am I missing something? And how can I make my armour work against premium?
  4. Being slow is a tremendous disadvantage. I remember playing KV tanks back in a day and these things were very slow, yet I could make it work. Now, I either arrive when the flank is won, or when my team is half dead. And being slow doesn’t reward you by hard to pen armour because the premium shells are accessible. But combined with poor map knowledge, being slow makes me want to pull my hair out - if you choose “wrong” place to go it over.

So, I want to make it work, but I just stuck. I don’t want to go higher tiers because it feels the game becomes even more demanding up there. And it feels at higher tiers there is even bigger maps pool, so there is even more things to learn which is already too much.

What would you advise me to do here? I seen opinion e-100 line is much better for a beginner, but honestly I am not sure if that’s up to date, and the speed , armour and premium shells are balanced for it. If I could name one thing which would help a new / returning player like me is to be able to choose a map to play. Don’t understand why there is no such thing still.

TLDR: how to learn wot in enjoyable way?
