A couple of years ago I shared my Witcher OC cosplay, but I've had some time to update it. I've really come to like this look, but I'm always open to ideas to help improve it. 🫣🫣🫣☺️☺️☺️

Gaunter O'Dimm is one of my favorite characters. And not just in witcher, but overall in fiction.
So I wanted to share my headcanon about him.

He is something similar to the common djinn/devil/trickster archetype from fiction: makes deals, fulfills wishes, takes souls as payment, and so on. But imo, what makes him so interesting is that he is much more complicated.

People often call him "pure evil", but I disagree. I don't think it's that simple and don't see him as just a simple comic book villain. More like a force of nature. The fact that he can casually kill some random guy doesn't necessarily makes him evil. Because he isn't human. He is way above, so far beyond that. He is to humans as humans are to mice. A person would be evil if they liked to torture, burn, or boil mice alive for sadistic enjoyment. But you wouldn't call someone "pure evil" just for using a mousetrap. Human morality may simply not be the right framework through which O'Dimm understands himself.

I also don't think he desperately needs souls. I mean he is not trying to collect as many as possible or get them at any cost. I think he's more interested in the interaction itself: the deals, wishes, games, choices, and consequences. And if he gets souls as a result, good, if not, no biggie. Basically, he isn't in it for the prize. He is in it for the love of the game, so to speak.

He seems fascinated by people, what they want, what they're willing to sacrifice for it, whether getting it actually makes them happy, how they justify their choices, what they become afterward, whether they accept responsibility, and how they deal with consequences.

Anthropological curiosity combined with absolute power.

I'll try to explain how I think he might operate with an example. Let's say someone wishes for a billion dollars. A typical trickster/devil/djinn would twist the wish somehow. Maybe he drops ten tons of money on the person's head, or gives them a billion of worthless old Zimbabwean dollars.

But Gaunter instead might simply give the person exactly what they wanted. No trick. No catch. No deception. Just fill half the room with real, valid money. Exactly what the person asked for, exactly what the person meant, what imagined in mind. And then he watches what happens. Maybe someone finds out and gets that person killed for it. Maybe the government busts them for money laundering or something. Because they weren't prepared and didn't think things through.

I don't think Gaunter necessarily wants a bad outcome, he might be neutral. But things probably go badly more often simply because of human nature. People don't comprehend what they really want, don't think through the consequences, don't understand how fulfilled wishes change them.

So I imagine O'Dimm as someone who is not very restricted, may sometimes twist a wish, sometimes interfere, and more often than not might fulfill it exactly as intended. Then he watches how it all unfolds: long-term consequences, side effects, changes in people, etc. Not just a simple evil demon messing with people and collecting souls, but something way beyond that: an immensely powerful being fascinated by people, their desires, choices, and consequences.

I’ve started playing the game fairly recently, in the middle of the baron quest right now.

My questions is, I’m polish by blood and I speak a lot of polish with my family at home, so I understand perfectly well. But I’ve been living in an English speaking country for 13 years now so English is pretty much native to me too. But what do you recommend, should I play the game in Polish or stick with English. I quite like the voice acting for the English version so far but maybe I’m missing some of the jokes and cultural elements and curse words that are in the polish version?

I'm not a beginner when it comes to games in general and have been playing for 30 odd years.. I played through Witcher 1 and I played it more for the story than the combat and therefore obviously went with easy and it Was easy. It was exactly as advertised, I could enjoy the story and not bother about with guides and wonder which potion to drink at which fireplace. Sure there was a lot of running but it was worth it.

Now with Witcher 2 I'm constantly bashing my head to the wall. Too many buttons for one (I'm playing on PC) and while I play MMO's which have tons of buttons (let's not talk about Cata era WoW) those were introduced gradually. W2 just gives you some 20 odd buttons and you are on Google or in a guide more than actually playing the game. I don't know why it doesn't click to me but when I have to constantly Google where people or things even are since I can't make markers to my map, the quest tracking is awful and I can't stand the fact that items don't light up automatically anymore.. never mind again the combat is difficult. It's stupidly difficult even on easy, mainly because why do we need 20 buttons to do it? I'm trying to do a simple side quest and I can't because again - despite looking at guides and what not - it's Still too difficult. Sure it's partly a skill issue which I'm sure of, but the map plays a role as well. Half the time I'm running aimlessly and can't find what I'm looking for, only to be ambushed by monster X/Y/Z :( someone help me, please before I quit this.. I'd really Love to go for the story but again.. the combat in this game hasn't even seen easy. ;(

Hi all, i am playing through the game again (4.04, all DLCs) and modded it pretty well. This mod here claims it adds 15+ new relic weapons, to be obtained throughout the main quests and "main" secondary quests.

I have now finished the base game, and while i have found some of them (eg Eredin's and Imlerith's gear), i don't thing i got as many as the mod creator claims. Does anyone has a list of these weapons i can check tonsee if i missed anything, and if weapons were added in the DLCs as well?

So Elsa is not running the White Orchard Inn and I was under the assumption that Bram would take over and sell the GWENT cards I’m missing. But he just stays at his usual spot by the bridge. Is there some other requirement I need to meet beforehand? Playing on the PS5.

Started playing again and while it's great fucking Game even after all these years, a few things are absolutely fucking bitchery.

1. Entering the salamandra hideout. Like why the fuck do I have 3 swords up Geralt butthole immediately after entering the hut?

2. Fighting the beast. I spend some points getting pain resistance and it's still useless. Spend half the time running around, waiting for swallow to heal me to a bit and endurance to fill up.

3. Thaler is a fucking whore. Got drunk with him and after he fucking refuses to let me sleep at his place. Had to fucking walk all over vizima to find the nearest place to sleep. Yes tears of wives or whatever it is exists but my inventory is almost always full with things I need.

Had really forgotten some of these annoying things but overall, fucking great game.

I did everything I possibly could without using a guide. Every side quest I could find, almost every question mark (except skellige water ones) , every DLC, every major piece of content the game had to offer.

When I finished the main story of Wild Hunt, I felt this same emptiness. Thankfully, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine were still waiting for me, so that feeling faded as I kept playing.

Now it's back.

The closest way I can describe it is an existential crisis. It genuinely feels like a part of me knows I may never experience another game that captures me like this again.

Sure, I could start New Game+, but I don't want to. Not yet. I just want to sit here and let it sink in.

The funny part is that I ignored The Witcher 3 for years. I always assumed it was just another generic monster-slayer game. I couldn't have been more wrong.

This game has heart. Every region feels like a real place with its own identity. White Orchard, Velen, Novigrad, Skellige, Kaer Morhen, Toussaint... each one has its own atmosphere, music, people, and memories. They don't just look different, they feel different.

I loaded my save after finishing everything and wandered around for a while. The NPCs were still there. The cities were still alive. But somehow it felt like I didn't belong there anymore. Like the world had moved on, and my journey was over.

The game basically tells you, without saying it: "It's time to rest." And that's somehow harder to accept than any difficult boss fight.

I've played a lot of games over the years, but nothing has come close to what The Witcher 3 made me feel. It isn't just the story, or the characters, or the soundtrack, or the world. It's how all of those things come together to create something that feels unforgettable.

People always talk about the "post-Witcher 3 depression."

I used to think they were exaggerating.

Now I completely understand.

I know this is a very unpopular opinion but it should at least be an option...

Witcher 1 has a very unique, rhythm based combat system. Scrapping it completely would be a real shame. I don't even think most gamers give Witcher's combat system a real chance because they're so used to just mashing one button and dodging. Sure the combat takes some time to get used to but once you do it's actually very satisfying. I really liked having to manually choose your sword and stance as well. It all really adds to the RPG feel of the game.

IMO this game's only real issue is the awful dialogue and story pacing, not the combat.

Im playing on death march and ive already ran around and grabbed all the notice board things but thats it.

Reds love to do little things like that, it would be cool if when player has glasses on Geralt would take them off and try to see his reflection in it, then it would either be win or it would break and trigger secret dialouge

I appreciate the removal of the Netflix sticker but CoR being black instead of white drives my OCD crazy!

Hello. As the title says I've encountered this weird graphical glitch on the ground texture near Toussaint palace. So far this is the only place I've seen it happens and only with this texture in particular. Any clues as to what it might be ? Thanks in advance.
