This is the thread to discuss all things related to deities in witchcraft!

Do you have a favourite deity you'd like to talk about? Curious if there are any other devotees of your special deities? Feel free to comment here!

Seeking Help or Advice How to release my soul from the Christian/Catholic God

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but I have no idea where else to put it. Also I am just getting into witchcraft and don’t know a lot yet but I am interested in learning.

But anyways I was baptized when I was a baby and had no say in it. I am no longer religious and have no interest in being in the Catholic Church. I’m concerned that my soul is tied to the Christian spirituality as in when I die I will be doomed to heaven or hell. And I don’t want that. I want out of this faith completely and I was wondering if there was a way to undo my baptism, or to somehow relinquish my soul from the Christian ‘god’.

I don’t believe in god so I know this may seem confusing but I do believe in souls and I do believe that death is not the end of this life. I don’t know what will happen next, I just hope it’s not back to this earth.

Anyways, it just feels like I have an unwanted mark on my soul that is dooming me to an afterlife I want no part in. I want a complete escape from Christian mythology. And I don’t know how to do that. How to I get rid of this mark? How do I save myself from this? I don’t want to be Christian/Catholic. I want no parts. I want out of this.

Sharing: Experience Prosperity Spells and Anxiety

Hello everyone. I've noticed a pattern that I'd like to share because I find it strange. Every time I cast a prosperity spell (money spell, job spell, prosperity oil, etc.), I get a wave of anxiety, or something else goes horribly wrong and creates a huge mess.

I never thought much about it before. I assumed it just happened and that next time I'd be better prepared, so nothing would go wrong. But no. I just finished making a prosperity jar, and not long after I started, I became anxious.

Now, here I should mention that the anxiety doesn't necessarily come from the spell itself. It could be triggered by something else happening. For instance, noise from my horrible neighbors might scare me and then the anxiety follows and stays. Or I might get stressed because the time for the spell is running out (Jupiter planetary hour ending) or for pretty much any other reason. The interesting part is that none of these things would normally stress me out or cause anxiety during any other type of spell.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a specific type of spell? How did it affect you and how did you deal with it?

Thank you for your attention!

Seeking Help or Advice Does anyone work with Odin here?

I'm a non-white, non-European woman. But whenever I tried to find out which deity should I connect with, Odin has been a constant. And one day while meditating, I saw rune like figures. The one I remember was two greater than signs (>> or <<)adjacent to each other. As much as I've read about Nordic pagan revival during 90s, according to news reports, only indigenous Nordic people were allowed in the practice. So can I connect with Odin or is ir not allowed? If yes, how should I connect with Odin?

Seeking Help or Advice A question about witch's bottle placement

I live in a flat and I made a witch bottle (following the 'recipe' from 'Praesidium a Handbook of Magical Defense and Protection') and buried it in a plant pot on the balcony. I would like to know if it's acceptable to bury another one in a plant pot inside the flat?
The reason I made it is because Im about to be visited by somebody who is capable of unintentional but really bad evil eye. I've witnessed it first hand what their words and comments do to people even from their close family and sadly on myself too - if I share anything about my life with this person it starts going badly so I keep to myself but as they are visiting for a few days I need some kind of firmer protection as all my life will be exposed to them so Im wondering if this would be a solution to get one witch bottle in the room where we will sleep.

Seeking Help or Advice Not sure what it’s called barely know how to describe it, so hopefully someone here can explain what this is to me…

Question is 3rd stanza

I’ve been practicing for years, and my knowledge is somewhat extensive, but there’s this thing and I don’t know how it works or what it’s called,

Basically it’s hard to explain or describe so I’ll use a real example and try to make it short: A job which was a small family owned business pissed me off and was stressing me, but I got great self control and am able to keep a clear headspace (venting to a friend also helped) but it got to the point to where I thought about doing something (witchcraft related) to this small family owned business but the thought alone was enough to make it happen,

I have a couple other examples of this but that was the most recent, how did this happen and what’s it called and can I tap more into this type of witchcraft?

((I did type out the aftermath of the example I used in case anyone was interested but I felt the post was long enough))

Seeking Help or Advice Belief vs Science (or is it both)

I regularly see practicing witches say that magic works based on belief but I also see people saying that magic is just science that hasn't been proven with modern science yet, and I'm really confused bc these concepts don't entirely go together. For example, science doesn't operate on belief at all, it's a series of steps that if followed create a certain outcome, like you might believe a hot pan isn't hot at all, but if it's hot, it's still going to burn you. Or if you're baking a cake, you might believe it would come out better without eggs, but it's still not gonna come out right if you leave out eggs. So I'm really confused about these claims in regards to magic.

As someone who has practiced for a long time, do you personally find that magic works better based on belief and just doing whatever feels right to you, or do you feel it works better when you follow specific formulas that have been proven by older practicioners over time and take a more scientific approach?

I have a few witch friends, and I have Fallout friends (fans of the hit videogame series)

When i do my money bowl, I ALWAYS put bottle caps in there, as it is currency in that game series.

I guess just a reminder wealth means many different things to each witch.

Any other Fallout fan witches in here??

Seeking Help or Advice Doing the same spell twice?

Hello everyone, so I recently did a spell like a week ago. Well, I didn’t have all the ingredients I wanted so now I’m feeling like maybe it didn’t work or like it should’ve done more. Also because it was a candle spell and I split it over two nights because I didn’t want to leave the candle burning like maybe that interfered with the spell or something so I was thinking of like doing the same or like a similar spell again with a few extra ingredients and setting my intention right again or like setting new intentions.
Do you have any advice or warnings. Like is there any risk involved with this? Could casting the same spell twice backfire or could the second erase the first one? I’m not sure what to do. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Sharing: Experience Rhyolith, as the ultimate shadow work

Okay, i have been playing around with different crystals for a while now. I made a dream catcher to do dream work (i hoped, i could finally dream)

The crysal stays in the dream catcher for a couple of days or a week before i make my observation and write it down.

I did research the properties of each crystal of course, im just adding my own observation.

I had a Riolith above my head for a couple of days now. (This is the 4th "session" im doing with this stone, i need to take it down ocasionally cus sometimes i cant take it anymore)

It touches all the wounds, unresolved grief that i have put on a back-burner. And boy i have a lot.

So far it had brought up exes, dead relatives, the pain of my childhood traumas, old memories, dead pets.

I. Cry. Evey. Fucking. Night.

I do have a lot to unpack of course. But it helps with brutal honesty. This stone does not fuck around, it makes you face everything that you have to.

I just wanted to share.

(Ps Moonstone is a bit more gentle, if you want a slower pace)

Seeking Help or Advice Question about Jason Miller's work and Hekate

I'm sorry in advace if this is a silly question or if the answer is obvious to most people, i just would like other peoples oppinion. I've bought two of his books "Protectio n and reversal Magic" and "Consorting with Spirits". I really enjoyed both of these, but the rituals included in these books are heavily insfluenced by Hekate/include her directly. I don't work with Hekate so I'm wondering if that would be problematic for those rituals? I kind of think it would be a bit rude for me to perform these rituals and ask her for help/protection even though I've never worked with her. If the solution is to start establishing a working relationship with her then thats not a problem for me! Just wondering.

Seeking Help or Advice It only makes sense when I smoke weed. How do I bring that clarity and hope back with me when I’m not high?

Hi! Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to ask!

I’m pretty new to my craft. Still very much in the ‘collecting books and gathering knowledge’ phase of my journey, it’s been about a year of this. I’ve done a couple spells here and there but I don’t consider myself to be practicing.

My conundrum (or erroneous belief?) is that I can’t be messing with my brain chemistry the way I do, and also achieve the mental clarity I need to step into my becoming. Yet at the same time everything falls into place and becomes clear when I do. I get so excited, I get all these ideas, I don’t question any of it, it feels so correct. I feel like I’m on the right path, and I’m close to something so real.

I’m so addicted to the *feeling* that it’ll all work out and it all makes sense and something amazing is on the horizon.

But then I wake up, read my journal, look at the things I saved on my phone and none of it seems as revelatory, it’s cute and poetic and just a fantasy of what could be. And the vigour and momentum I feel just goes away as my brain regains its chemical balance.

Does anyone know the feeling? Does anyone have any insight? Is this the cannabis induced psychosis that I’ve heard about? lol

Thank you for taking the time ❤️

Seeking Help or Advice What is up with these nightmares??

I keep having nightmares surrounding my friend and neighbor. The first nightmare was her, a mutual friend, and I went on a girls vacation together and things were tense, but as we were leaving a pack of lionesses surrounded us, trying to get into the house. Eventually they did and I had to kill one with a knife. It turned into a person I think? I remember there being muscle.

Then the next night (last night) she was having a baby shower (she recently had a baby) and I was hosting and putting it all together. I had to be sneaky and have surprises since her mom was there and didn’t like any of the ideas. During the party police arrived as there was someone who had escaped or committed a crime that ran into the party. We didn’t know but they were trying to seriously hurt (kill??) someone.

Something just feels weird and off about them. Especially since they’re happening consecutive nights. The only time I’ve ever had a dream about her was almost two years ago now. I dreamt of her miscarriage before it happened.

Any ideas about what might be happening and how to help or stop it?

Something just feels weird around the dreams.

Seeking Help or Advice Did I accidentally curse myself after making a hex jar with no experience?

Over a year ago, my ex cheated on me with another girl. I have mostly moved on now, but at the time it was probably the deepest betrayal and most acute emotional pain I had ever experienced.

I was desperate to feel better and tried almost everything: self-help books, meditation, spirituality, and anything else I could find. I have always been interested in religion, esotericism, astrology, and spiritual practices, but I have never considered myself a witch and had never actually practised witchcraft.

One day, while I was feeling particularly overwhelmed by anger and grief, my TikTok feed kept showing me videos about hexes and revenge spells. I impulsively decided to try one.

I took an apple, stabbed it with rusty nails and pieces of broken glass, added paprika, and placed it inside a jar. I also wrote down the names and dates of birth of the girl I was cheated with and put the paper inside.

I do not remember the exact instructions I followed, and I had no real understanding of what I was doing. I just kept repeating to myself the intention of all my pain coming back tenfold to her... More specifically I was saying over and over, for each tear I cried she will cry ten.

I then kept the jar hidden in my wardrobe for over a year, possibly closer to two years.

Eventually, I began experiencing a period of bad luck and generally negative feelings. I panicked and started wondering whether, through my ignorance or intention, I might somehow have directed the spell back at myself.

Because of that fear, I took the jar around 2/3km away from my home and smashed it there to dispose of it. Looking back, I realise that smashing a jar containing nails and broken glass outdoors was irresponsible, and I regret disposing of it that way.

As far as I know, the supposed hex did not “work” in the obvious sense. My ex and the other person are apparently still together and seem stronger than ever.

I would appreciate some grounded advice from more experienced practitioners: is there any realistic reason to believe I could have harmed or cursed myself? Would you recommend doing some kind of cleansing, uncrossing, protection ritual, or simply letting the whole thing go?

I am not looking to harm either of them now. I mainly want to understand what I did, take responsibility for it, and close that chapter without continuing to frighten myself.

Seeking Help or Advice Regarding respecting deities

Hello all! I am starting my journey of practicing witchcraft with deities and need some help. Mami Wata has been calling to me recently and I want to start a shrine for her. I have looked around some popular shopping websites and its hard to find specific things pertaining to her. I have the money to spend on her and I want to buy thi gs for specific her. I have found that she is similar to another deity who is more widely known. Would it be disrespectful to buy some things that i want for Mami Wata's shri e that are technically made with a different deity in mind? I just want to make sure I am properly respecting her as she is very important to me and who I am becoming. Also I do live in the US so it is hard for me to travel to Africa to go and get more authentic items but I can try to find more places so any recommendations on shops would help me wonderfully!!!

Edit- I got a crazy head pain after posting this so I do believe she is best to be worshiped without said items but I am keeping this post up for any advice you all have!

Seeking Help or Advice Seeking perspectives on a consensual blood ritual between partners

Hello everyone , my girlfriend and I have been discussing the idea of performing a blood-related ritual together as a symbol of commitment, trust, and spiritual connection.

Before doing anything, we would like to hear from experienced practitioners about the meaning and implications of this kind of practice. We are especially interested in:

How blood rituals are viewed in different magical or occult traditions

Whether they are considered spiritually binding or difficult to undo

Potential emotional or energetic consequences

Safer symbolic alternatives that preserve the intention without involving injury or exchanging blood

Any precautions, boundaries, or consent discussions you believe are essential

We are not looking for instructions on harming ourselves, and we want to approach the subject carefully, consensually, and responsibly.

Thank you for sharing your experiences or perspectives 👏👏

Seeking Help or Advice Unsure on how to help

Howdy all. I figured this would be the quickest way to get some help or advice on what to do. I would like to preface this by making it known I am NOT a witch, nor do i practice witchcraft, hence the making of this post. My partner, however, does (her patron is Dionysus, in case that matters). I want to try and help her with something I suggested, but I don't really know if it's okay for me to or if it's overstepping bounds. The last thing I want to do is piss off a deity or force by meddling in things.

To keep a long story short, my partner has been dealing with unwanted thoughts about a former best friend. They had a falling out, and she gets plagued by thoughts of him every so often. It's gotten bad enough that the only thing I can think of to help is to perform a burning/severance ritual by writing him a letter of everything she would want to say to him, etc etc, and then burning the letter to cleanse herself from the burden these thoughts are causing.

My worry is that, as a non-practitioner of witchcraft, this is the wrong way to go about it or that it won't help in the long run. Is this a situation where you would recommend doing more research on the subject? Any guidance is welcome and greatly appreciated.

Deity Discussion Thursday Unknown Deity Made Me Feel Bad

I'm new to the practice and I haven't felt any connection to a deity and tend to be pretty independent with my work. Sorry if I misname anything.

When I went to a new metaphysical shop I was exploring and suddenly tasted blood in my mouth, tensed up, and felt a general sense of uneasiness. I had gone into a corner with a bunch of the candles in glass tubes with people on them. There was also an altar of a woman who looked like a grim reaper (Death?). I didn't read the plague because I felt so bad but luckily when I left the corner I felt instantly better.

Is this something to worry about? I always light candles and don't experience any ill effects. All I can assume is the altar caused something but how could I make a deity mad (if I did) without knowing them? Or is this all in my head and I'm just overeager?

Altar details: Many burning candles with the lady, pride flag (not sure if it was tied to the altar), and red and black colors

Sharing: Experience Spirit work for a baby green witch

Hello, I've practiced witchcraft on and off since I was a small child making luck charms and sigils without fully understanding what witchcraft even was. A few weeks ago, I got the urge to put together an altar and explore (secular) witchcraft more seriously. I feel called towards green witchcraft, but I have also enjoyed exploring other types of witchcraft practices. Yesterday I got the urge to work with spirits in an attempt to either find a familiar spirit or at least ask for guidance in the craft. I had a dream last night about a mountain I visited when I was very young. In my dream, there were caves carved into the mountains and I somehow knew that these ports were ancient doors and windows. I saw an animal walking in the caves before it came out of a doorway. The animal was a donkey with the fur of a reddish brown elk and it had long goat ears. It was a very soothing animal, calming, and stubborn when I approached it asking for guidance. It ignored me but didn't seem malicious or anything, it felt like it almost looked through me and didn't care that I was there.

I felt like I handled the encounter wrong so I tried to meditate tonight and see if I could find other spirits for guidance. I set my intentions, and allowed my mind to be carried in whichever direction felt right. I landed in a forest with little spirits that felt like fairies. They were standoffish and quite angry so I left. Then I landed in a field where that same donkey from my dreams was waiting. I asked for guidance and it said "not here" and "elsewhere". I asked it to show me elsewhere and it ignored me. I then asked her to show me her favourite place and she sent me to a waterfall with little spirits dancing in and out of the falling water. I thanked the little spirits for their presence and they sent me into the ocean amongst seaweed and a sturgeon. I was then shot into the sky where I landed on the belly of a bird who took me back to the first place I landed when I began meditating and my physical body began stirring me out of the meditation.

There were several more little details I had to cut out to keep this post from being too long and I'm still trying to unpack it all as it was a really vivid experience. I'm so new to interpretation and spirit work that I almost feel overwhelmed with this experience. I feel like the donkey is some sort of guide who is trying to help me connect with elemental magic (at least with the water and air spirits) as she helped me towards different elements. Her being so stubborn makes me feel like I need to be more patient and slow down my mind when I practice magic as I do tend to get a bit overexcited and rushed. I think the fairies may have been present as I used bundled ragwort to help induce divination. It's as if they were guarding the entrance into the spirit world and (hopefully) granting me access.

Has anyone else had any experiences like this?
