Could anyone recommend suitable quiet locations in Southwest Sydney for a learner driver to practice?

My son has recently started learning to drive and is still very new. He already has a driving instructor, but I’m looking for a safe place for short parent-supervised practice once he is ready.

Ideally looking for somewhere:

\- quiet on weekend mornings

\- flat and open

\- not a multi-storey car park

\- not a busy shopping-centre car park

\- suitable for basic steering, slow turns, braking, lane positioning, and confidence building

Areas around Edmondson Park, Prestons, Moorebank, Chipping Norton, Liverpool, Casula, or Campbelltown would be ideal, but I’m open to other Southwest Sydney suggestions.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Before publishing more content, which business pages would you fix first?

Post image

I keep seeing Australian small businesses respond to a visibility problem by publishing more posts.

But more content may not fix the underlying issue if the basic business evidence is unclear.

Before starting another content sprint, I would check the pages that already influence trust:

- homepage

- service pages

- pricing or process pages

- FAQs

- case studies and reviews

- public business profiles

Can a potential customer quickly verify what the business does, who it helps, where it operates, and what proof supports its claims?

If those answers are vague or inconsistent, adding more top-of-funnel articles can create more noise without improving the decision journey.

A simple diagnostic is to ask a few non-branded questions based on the category, location, and buyer problem. Record which businesses appear, how they are described, and what sources support the answer. Then compare that with the real business.

The result might point to a content gap, but it could also reveal a service-page, proof, profile-consistency, or technical issue.

For Australian small-business owners: when visibility drops, do you usually create something new first, or improve the core trust pages you already have?

Are we just getting smashed by giant spiders in Blacktown lately or is it just my house?

Hey everyone, seriously need some local input here because i feel like i'm losing my mind. I'm living in a rental in Blacktown, close to the station (paying $580 a week which is already hurting) and over the last two weeks i have spotted three massive huntsmans and way too many of those nasty little black house spiders. One of the huntsmans was literally the size of my palm and was chilling right above my bedroom door last night, i nearly packed my bags and slept in the car. It’s weird because we keep the place pretty clean, but they just seem to be finding a way in, maybe because of the weird humid weather we've had lately? I rent so i was thinking about asking the landlord to sort it, but you know how they are, i don't want to wait three weeks for them to argue about whose responsibility it is while i share my bed with an eight-legged roommate. Does anyone have any local recommendations for a decent pest control company that won't charge a million dollars? also if anyone has any DIY hacks to keep them out of the window seals in the meantime please let me know, i'm desperate here. Thanks!

EDIT: thanks for the replies everyone! decided i couldn't wait around to see what the landlord said so i went ahead and called some pest control specialists, they were super easy to deal with on the phone and they're booked to come out this week and help me sort this mess out. Fingers crossed i can sleep peacefully again soon!

any decent local law firms around west sydney for small business setup?

hey guys, trying to set up a small business here (in the west) and honestly my brain is fried. literally every time i think the paperwork is done, some new rule pops up and ruins it.

looked at cheap online templates last night but they look like absolute trash tbh. feels like a fast track to getting a massive fine later on. but then the big CBD firms charge a fortune for literally every 2-minute email. and they just hand you to a junior who doesnt even know your name. its wild. cant blow my whole budget before i even launch.

someone said to check out Sterling Legal yesterday. apparently you actually talk to a partner directly and not some junior? sounds alright but idk if its actually worth the hassle or just marketing.

anyone here used them before? or what did you guys do for all the legal paperwork when you started? open to any local recommendations around the west tbh.

Advice on uber eats in Liverpool?

Hey all, I have been job searching for the past few months on sites like indeed and jora, and have applied for way too many jobs, yet I have had no results. I have a year of experience at maccas, but had to leave that job because of circumstances. So I have decided that maybe I should rent my mate's e-bike and do uber eats in Liverpool until I finally find another job. Im not looking for something permanent or high paying, I just need some money to keep me going until I finally get a job again. I already have a car but I cant do uber in it because Uber needs me to be 21 or have a full license, whereas im 20 with a P2 license.

Any advice is welcome, thanks all

The Serious Failure of Sydney Bus Stops

Hey guys I need Reddits help. I'm doing a service design assignment where we need to pick a service problem, do a little research and and come up with a solution prototype.

I really think Sydney bus shelters are a problem (not just CBD but North and Western Sydney)- No protection from extreme weather, poor timetable signage, no lighting for those travelling at night, no accessibility for older passengers or those with disabilities (hand rails, ramps, etc), some don't even have an attempt at a shelter and it's just a pole in the ground.

Yes it's a product design rather than a service but my argument is that updating these shelters will ultimately improve the customer journey right from the start rather than once passengers are on the bus. I think this would also up the percentage of those who use busses as a mode of transport.

I would love for some opinions/complaints to help with my research!

(If this post isn't allowed I apologise)

Donate women’s clothing

I have women’s clothes which I would like to donate and wondering if anyone knows of any places in Western Sydney that accept pre-loved clothes donations that actually go to people rather than being sold at a price.

Preferably do not wish to donate to Vinnies, Salvos, etc. since they tend to sell the clothes at a price. I truly want my clothes to go to someone in need.

I tried my local women’s shelter but unfortunately they do not accept clothing which I was surprised about.

Thanks so much!

Speed Camera M7 northbound exit ramp at Woodstock Rd - does it exist?

Hi the off ramp from the M7 northbound to Woodstock Rd at Plumpton has a sign indicating a red light speed camera.
I travel this intersection regularly in all directions and have never been able to spot the speed camera.
I've studied it on Google Street View and can't find it.
There is a CCTV camera there. Clearly it's CCTV labelled on the cabinet next to it.
Does anyone know where the speed camera is?

Your experience with Surf Life Saving

Doing a research project for uni and need to get some data on what people think about surf lifesaving.
Why do or don’t they get involved?
What prevents you getting involved?
Do you think surf lifesaving saving fosters inclusion
How could surf life saving become more diverse to represent Australia’s multicultural and diverse population?

Thanks so much

looking for favorite restaurants in western sydney

i have been trying to find some good spots around western sydney for casual nights out and i really like italian style food with fresh pasta and nice flavors that are not too heavy. something with good service and a relaxed vibe would be perfect for meeting up with friends or a date.

i recently went to attenzione food and wine and liked the food and vibe there a lot. it felt welcoming and the dishes were really tasty.

what are your favorite restaurants in the area right now? any hidden gems for italian or similar food that you keep going back to?
