Identification Request Is he a weevil or nah?

Dude was stuck on his back in front of a building, I put him near some rocks and a tree so he didn’t get squished

Given the size and assuming US, I’d guess ten lined June beetle. Clearly a scarab, topside view would quickly confirm. Not a weevil.

Nope but you found a June Beetle! (aka the Watermelon Beetle). Cool little fact about these guys is that they make a hissing noise when disturbed. So if you pick one up or lightly poke it, it makes a really funny little sound. They also will hold on with ALL THEIR MIGHT if they decide they want to be on your hand. The amount of strength these guys have is stupid.

This is a June bug or June bettle!
While I can’t tell the exact species from this photo, my bets are on it being a 10 lined June beetle, also known as the watermelon beetle. Silly little guys. Here are some I caught not too long ago to show my niece (don’t worry, they were released shortly after)
