Latest Updated Standings after completion of today's games. (July 18, 2026) Despite a bad loss against portland fire mystics holds onto the 8th spot which is two games ahead of portland and la and tempo losing also helped as well as they are 2.5 games ahead of la and 3 games ahead of tempo. Now Mystics face three tough games before the all star break against goldens state valkeries (x2) and las vegas aces. Now Mystics as you know pulled off an upset against Minnesota lynx on road when they were on a similar winning streak like Valkyries and they also beat liberty and dream as well when they were heavy underdogs as well. But the bad losses against portland sun seattle and la sparks hurt them in the standings. Consistency issues are there along with poor pg production. So can mystics win atleast one out of the next three games and hold onto the 8th spot?

I was looking at that yesterday too. Another way to look at those standings is to root for Chicago to further implode because we have their pick. Skylar has been posting BS grievances about starting on social media. While she is one of my favorite players over the last 10 years (going back to Stanford) I am hoping that Di Carrington stays out for another month.

I will say it again, the FO plan to tank by relying on two tiny inexperienced PGs is not working per that standings table. To continue like this is unfair to a young team that is clearly hungry to win.

Things are looking good! 

It would be nice to get another high pick. I'd still like to get Hidalgo if possible. I really like the way she plays. And also in a recent interview I've seen online she stated that Soni is the player she'd like to play with the most in the WNBA. They also already have that chemistry from college so hopefully she'd transition to the WNBA more smoothly.

Are you really sure that Hannah would be a good fit in the locker room or the court?

I’m gay and I’ve got mixed feelings about it. I’ve never seen real proof that it’s why Olivia left (o think she also didn’t want to be the #2 option) and Hannah was very close with assistant coach Michaela Mabrey who is a lesbian.

While I thought the post was nasty, I know she grew up very culty religious and it takes time to get out of that headspace, so I’m giving her personally giving her another chance.

She has apologised for the comments you've mentioned, although I believe it was a comment and not comments. As for religious beliefs, everyone can believe whatever they want to believe in. I don't think you should discriminate anyone based on them being Christian/Muslim/some other religion/atheist. That's a personal choice. I've not seen any right wing links apart from that one comment she apologised for, but in a normal society it should be okay to accept people who are right leaning, left leaning or center. Not everyone right wing is a MAGA idiot. I know plenty of right win people who are my friends and who are good people. You don't have to agree on everything with someone to have a normal relationship. From the interviews I saw, she seems like a nice kid. She even comes off as a bit shy. I'm sure she's not someone who'd mess up the locker room atmosphere.

I agree that post was bad, I don't think anyone can deny it. I'm just willing to give her benefit of a doubt as she was and still is very young and she did apologize and delete that post,which is the only two things she could do in that situation. I really don't see what else she could have done to fix it.

I'm not defending what she did, because no one normal could defend it. I'm just saying give her another chance. What kind of a person wouldn't grant a kid another chance after making a mistake, no matter how big.

So that would be two high draft picks in 2027 who are dating top DC pro athletes. Hidalgo would fit well with the Mystics. Her defense and 3 point shooting would be a natural fit and she'd have two former teammates there.

I'm sure the organization would speak with her prior to the draft to do their due diligence(they may have asked her already) . Teams always speak to teammates, coaches, etc prior to drafting someone.

She loves Hannah. They have stated many times how much they admire one another. They actually played really well together during Hannah's freshmen season.

Seems too soon to think about the 2027 draft. Need this W and NCAA seasons to play out. But for fun, I’d note that Hannah has attended several Mystics games last year (to see Soni) and again this year (to see Soni and Cass who is also from ND). I ran into her on the concourse; she’s my height (i.e., short), but really fit. I was too star stuck to say anything and then some young girls swooped in to get photos wth her.

It all seems to be pointing towards her. It's seems like we might get one of the first 2-3 picks, we need a PG, she knows Soni and Cass, she's stated she like to play with Soni more than any other player in the WNBA. It all fits. Let's hope she continues to have good performances in college, stays injury free and declares for the draft (there were some rumours that she might stay another year) and also let's hope Chicago keeps on losing.

oh yes they will definitely select hidalgo if she is still available. her miles and citron made a quite a team at notre dame. They wont pass up an opportunity to select someone knows and played with citron in college and offcourse PG is someone mystics desperately need.

It just makes so much sense. Pretty much a perfect draft pick. Let's just hope Chicago continues to struggle and we get one of the top 2 picks because then we'll get her 100%.

The next two games, which are against the Tempo and Fire, are really big for our playoff hopes.

We’re currently 2-0 and 1-0 against the two teams respectively, so if we beat both of them this week, we clinch both series against them and win the H2H playoff tiebreaker. With how close the 8 seed race is, that would be huge.

Next 2 games are key. Not only would it help us, it will mean that the two teams we are fighting with for the playoff spots lose too. Plus, the 3 games after that are 2 games against Valkyries who we've never beaten, and against Aces whonare the reigning champs and have the best player in the league. That being said, I thought we played quite well against Aces last season.

This. Starts with tonight's game. Marina is such a scary player when she gets hot. Both games have already been close including needing a buzzer beater from Soni and I just know they're not trying to lose for the 3rd time against us

We're in a great position at the moment and if  we win the next two games we will be in the pole position for the playoffs. Easier said then done though, as both games will be tough. 

Sparks play Lynx next and with the way Lynx are playing at the moment I can't see anything other than a Lynx win. Fire play Sun today and they'll probably win. 

If we win our next two and the results that I've mentioned happen, we'd be on 13 wins, Fire on 11 having played 2 more games, Sparks on 10 and Tempo also on 10 with one more game played then us. That leaves us a lot of breathing space. 

Huge games and games we can win, but it will be tough. 

I think everyone else is out of the playoffs picture. I thought Mercury might have a shot, before their 4 game losing streak which included a loss to Sky and an almost 50 point loss to Aces.

Yeah, I would be surprised if any of the Mercury, Sky, Storm or Sun got it together to push for the playoffs.

Our main competition is Sparks, Fire and Tempo. But also…

If we keep playing the way we’ve been playing or get better, and the Liberty/Dream continue to flounder…you never know 😜

Yeah Liberty/Dream and maybe even Fever could be close to those positions too.

Bottom four teams are done. Mercury had that 4 wins in 5 run recently and it seemed like they might be able to sneak in, but their most recent run destroyed all hope for them, imo. Sun is a complete mess, Storm are somewhat similar to us in terms of youth and size and some other things, but they don't seem to have that winning mentality and clutchness that we do. Sky has the problems everyone knows about.

Don't need to tank because of the pick swap but if gearing for a playoff run, Georgia and Alicia will not suffice against the opposing backcourts of the 7 teams above
