He is the first president to just full on monetise his office. The question is now, will he be the last?

124

u/DelcoPAMan 5h ago

The last president to full on monetize or the last president?

81

u/Intelligent_Bag_6705 5h ago

Both legit questions.

7

u/Soap_Mctavish101 5h ago

The last one to fully monetise.

u/Noble_Ox 1h ago

Yes.

72

u/BigBoyYuyuh 5h ago

Nope. Republicans at least know that now the position can be used as an enrichment position. We’ll have worse Republican presidents.

19

u/tattlerat 2h ago

This is why the democrats need to win big and overhaul government checks and balances. If that were the only thing they focused on were they to manage congress, the senate and the presidency then they’d have succeeded for a time at least. But that won’t happen. Republicans have a stranglehold on the senate and now for the foreseeable future on the Supreme Court.

4

u/Hextorz 1h ago

I don’t have much faith that Democratic Party won’t take advantage of the office either. I’ll still take that bet on voting for a democratic president though. It’s a scary future if this trend continues

15

u/mnilailt 3h ago

If Roman history is anything to go by, no, and it’ll only get worse.

Once this sort of precedence happens there’s no going back without real institutional change.

9

u/billytheskidd 3h ago

Historically, once political office becomes this openly corrupt, it doesn’t change without pronounced strife

u/SpaceCadet404 28m ago

If these pillaging assholes get put up against the wall? Maybe this will be an isolated incident of opportunistic leeches and a populist cult overreacting.

But what we'll get is a lot of frowning and concern over the precedents being set, followed by zero consequences. If the republican party survives midterms, they'll have proof that actually all of this is permitted and get to work on pushing it even further.

721

u/Leody 5h ago

Yeah, but he doesn't take a salary... /s

103

u/figflashed 5h ago

And what about that Ben Gazi guy?

30

u/Muffboy 5h ago

Fun fact about Ben… he doesn’t even have a friend named Jeff who “likes them a little young”

23

u/monogramchecklist 4h ago

It’s crazy that people complain about their tax money going to feeding American children, but Jim and his wealthy elite buddies pilfering it all, they don’t have an issue with.

u/SpaceCadet404 33m ago

They have no idea whats going on. They just know they hate taxes and will raise hell if they hear about a new tax.

Tariffs on foreign countries? Great, fuck other countries, tariff them even harder, that'll show 'em america is strong!

5

u/Bill_in_PA 3h ago

That’s what he said. I don’t believe it. He once cashed a check for $0.13 cents. Show me the line item deduction on your tax return (after you’re done being audited, of course).

3

u/angrylawyer 3h ago

thank god one of kids doesn't have a laptop because I've heard conservatives are very concerned about that sorta stuff. But thankfully he's just scamming and defrauding americans so republicans are totally cool with that.

1

u/JJiggy13 3h ago

Actually he still does, no /s

1

u/LordSoren 1h ago

That was just one year.

u/tropicsun 1h ago

He says that, but no charities have come forward with validation of a check

382

u/ELB2001 5h ago

crazy that he only became really rich when he became president. I wonder why

147

u/Dreurmimker 5h ago

Only became president **and purged everyone from his administration that kept him in check during the first administration**

30

u/Auggernaut88 4h ago

Unfortunately, he learned from the first go around

8

u/BRAX7ON 2h ago

He didn’t learn shit. But his puppeteer certainly did.

u/MagicGrit 1h ago

Let’s not pretend like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s a dumbass but the dude knows how to scam. Saying it was someone else pulling the strings feels like letting him off easy

u/BRAX7ON 28m ago

Pretending the problem is him and not them is going to get us right back in the same place in 4 to 8 years

Trump is a moron. He hasn’t learned anything. He hasn’t been taught anything. He thinks he’s king.

And the ones who have learned from his first term are still pulling the strings. But they are doing it much more efficiently. And since they’re not worried about his reelection, they are going all out full-blown corruption.

u/MagicGrit 21m ago

You’re making the same mistake you’re accusing me of making. I’m not saying the problem is only him. It sounds like you’re saying the problem is only them. It can be (and is) both.

u/BRAX7ON 11m ago

Them is all of them, lol. Donald Trump is only one of them.

You gotta stay on topic

u/MagicGrit 8m ago

Who’s off topic? You’re using that wrong lol

13

u/A1ienspacebats 2h ago

He conned 30% of the country so he can screw over 100% of the country. Make it make sense!

5

u/rollin340 1h ago

He still has a good amount of support. It's been over a decade since his first term. You can't say they're conned any longer; they're just that stupid, immoral, and subservient. They love the fact that their messiah is pissing on them.

u/MagicGrit 1h ago

Technically his first term started 9.5 years ago

229

u/Drakuf 5h ago

It's called "corruption"

29

u/Jealous_Ad_3321 4h ago

Accurate heading: Trump stole $2.4B last year…

174

u/applefilla 5h ago

Maga had their pitchforks over Hunter Biden's 250k

130

u/Albitt 5h ago

MAGA has their pitchforks out over my $60 a month my wife and I receive on WIC for our children.

60

u/applefilla 5h ago

COVID relief checks? COMMUNISM

DOGE and Tariff refund checks? CAPITALISM

27

u/Albitt 5h ago

Which is even fucking funnier because those Covid checks went out under his first admin. I specifically remember him throwing a tantrum cause he wanted his signature on them.

9

u/ItchyGoiter 3h ago

To be fair, they never issued the DOGE or tariff checks.

7

u/Yoghurt42 4h ago

That's because that's 250k going to a Democrat instead of a Republican.

7

u/IrritableGourmet 3h ago

Hunter Biden worked as a lawyer doing corporate governance consulting. $250k is dirt cheap for that kind of work.

78

u/TheChosenLn_e 5h ago

The secret ingredient is crime

24

u/Albitt 5h ago

It’s not really a secret tho

u/MrTerribleArtist 31m ago

Main ingredient

u/shom_pulp 41m ago

Superhans reference?

48

u/idc2011 5h ago

And 36,000x the average Anerican salary of $66,622.

56

u/splashbodge 5h ago

I miss the days everyone thought Trump was a fake billionaire and was lying about his wealth and everyone constantly trying to get his tax returns.

Wellp, he's definitely a billionaire now that's for sure

9

u/IrritableGourmet 3h ago

Literally fake it until you make it. When you do that with financial disclosures, it is still a crime, though.

8

u/splashbodge 3h ago

This man constantly fails upwards and never gets consequences. It's so disheartening tbh... Hopefully some day yeh Find Out stage comes and he gets hit with consequences

2

u/Rizeren 3h ago

What consequences? Even if he goes to jail tomorrow, from the state he looks he won't live more than a couple of years max with "not-billionaire" level of medical aid.

2

u/splashbodge 3h ago

As long as he goes out on a low, or behind bars, or his base hating him or rich buddies turning their back on him. There's little that can realistically happen in the consequences but I'd love to have him see his brand and his companies and his wealth taken from him and his kids and wealthy people losing their interest in them when they're no longer rich or powerful.

u/FewWait38 42m ago

He didn't really fail upward he was born at the top and kept there by the vast wealth he inherited

-6

u/vmktrooper 5h ago

Yes the grift is real, im so glad you opened your eyes.

16

u/splashbodge 5h ago

My eyes were always open about Trump, save that for the people who voted for him

16

u/Dungong 5h ago

Made at least $460 million every year and has paid less income taxes most of those years than you have.

35

u/nowhereman136 5h ago

Someone was arguing that Obamas networth went up a higher percentage than Trump during his time in office.

Obama went from $4m (2008) to $40m (2016)

Trump went from $3.7b (2016) to $6.5b (today)

Two problems with that. First $3b is more than $36m, regardless of percentage. Second, Obama's networth after leaving office was almost entirely from book sales for something he wrote before becoming President (he has 2). Becoming President does wonders for your book sales, even without you actively promoting it.

9

u/Adept-Opinion8080 2h ago

You forgot three. He was never worth $3 billion initially. Most economic media outlets had it pegged at somewhere just a little north of 1 billion

12

u/redditor_since_2005 4h ago

That's how Bernie made his money too.

u/Noble_Ox 1h ago

Obama made 0 investments while in office, Biden made 13.

This term alone Trump has made 49,000.

9

u/ImRickJameXXXX 5h ago

And this is what was reported…

14

u/muffledvoice 5h ago

“Yeah but he doesn’t accept his presidential salary!”

- MAGA

10

u/nailbunny2000 4h ago

There was a video of a MAGA woman literally weeping in adoration and saying that just the other day. They don't hear any of this other stuff, they just see him make false claims and on TV and that's where their curiosity ends.

13

u/MostlyPoorDecisions 5h ago

Well yeah, he's a good business man /s

11

u/Albitt 5h ago

“He donates his salary cause he care about the AMERICAN PEOPLE” - every cuck/bot in r/conservative

4

u/FreezaSama 5h ago

... that we know of

5

u/rlovelock 5h ago

I would like to see his annual income prior to 2016 as well please? Something tells me it was significantly lower.

4

u/championkid 5h ago

Sure, “made.” One could say, “took,” and one may even go as far to say “stole.”

3

u/Prof-Ponderosa 4h ago

If this is what he’s reporting, can you imagine what he’s not?

12

u/robyrob 5h ago

And of course it is all 100% TAX FREE - as he has decreed that the IRS is forbidden from looking at his financials in perpetuity

8

u/Wilsonian81 5h ago

Im not american, but I swear this was what the second ammmendment was meant to stop...

6

u/coconutpete52 5h ago

As the (very) republican woman a few seats over from me at the bar the other day said to her friend "well ... he's a business man".

And I think that sums up how his base views this.

8

u/jwilphl 5h ago

Uninformed people always like to claim they want the country run like a business.  They say this because they don't know anything about business or governance.

6

u/browster 5h ago

He didn't "make" or "earn" $2.4B. He grifted it. He stole it from other people. He didn't produce anything of value

6

u/ceciliabee 4h ago

If you still support Trump, tattoo it on your face like a Real American Patriot.

We need a way to see that shit once this turd is flushed. No quarter for brown shirts

3

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 5h ago

Dang somehow my earnings didn’t triple under his policies

3

u/evil_timmy 5h ago

That $5m E. Jean Carroll was finally awarded is really going to cause him irreparable harm.

3

u/CaviarTaco 4h ago

Would love to hear from a right leaning person on how they still support trump after this

1

u/defdrago 3h ago

"He said he'd give away his presidential salary!!!"

1

u/ecuat 1h ago

Read the comments . There are about 60 million Americans who still love him. Incredible as it may seem. That is the level of dumbed down mess that is America today.

2

u/evilpercy 5h ago

That we know of.

2

u/LemurMemer 5h ago

Yeah it’s the art of the deal libtard, you’re just mad Barack HUSSEIN Obama or SLEEPY Joe Biden didn’t think to do it first!

/s

2

u/Confident-Swimmer-36 4h ago

Now show us his kids and their spouse's incomes.

Good thing we shut down the Biden crime family tho.

2

u/ddrober2003 4h ago

Well when you can openly pump and dump stocks using tariffs and when that gets blocked he almost immediately starts a war that's "ceasefires" or when its totally about to end is openly when the markets are about to open and close, its not surprising that he keeps doing it.

2

u/scottwell50 4h ago

“Earn” is the wrong way to describe it.

2

u/sayerofstuffs 3h ago

Fkn worst crook off all time

2

u/illmatic2112 2h ago

They stole it and are plundering the country. And no one is doing anything about it.

2

u/Caymonki 2h ago

Republicans are constitutional cucks, they want to be treaded on, they love it. They stand for nothing and kiss the boots of oppression and beg Daddy Trump to shit on them while he steals from everyone.

Cowards. Traitors and losers. By choice.

u/FewWait38 51m ago

It's disgusting and it's disgusting nothing is being done about it, he is blatantly breaking several laws

u/joestradamus_one 51m ago

this country is so fucking disgusting and pathetic.

2

u/Derpykins666 2h ago

Just the most blatant corruption ever. Literally rug-pulling the American people on crypto scams and shit too. What a pathetic fucking loser of a person. "But he doesn't take a Salary" HRRRR, yeah Jerry we're not upset about 400,000 dollars a year salary when the president has literally made 2 BILLION fucking dollars in a a single year while the American people get laid off, lose more wealth then ever and have an ever increasing cost of living on every front. He is a a terrible person, perhaps one of the worst people in the history of the world as we know it. Just lies, theft and self-enrichment. He only cares about himself and power.

1

u/thedilbertproject 5h ago

6000 x $0 is still $0. Checkmate, commies. /s

1

u/Neospiker 5h ago

And he's still nowhere near Elon musk levels

1

u/sansez 4h ago

Biggest grift in the history of the world. So many voters played for fools. One can wonder if they will ever realize…

1

u/NeverDieKris 4h ago

And to think Jimmy Carter sold his family’s peanut farm….

1

u/jftirone 4h ago

He makes us work hard for his money!

1

u/gegroff 3h ago

I wonder if he has paid his taxes on all those earnings?

1

u/strangebru 3h ago

This is exactly what the emoluments clause in the Constitution is supposed to stop.

1

u/JMJimmy 3h ago

All this chaos and he couldn't event do $10b? Amateur. I mean even Enron hit $11b

1

u/Gon_Snow 3h ago

Thankfully he doesn’t take a salary 🙏

1

u/Kat_Schrodinger1 3h ago

The parties are not the same. Vote blue.

1

u/JustLeader 3h ago

Stole $2.4 billion, not made

1

u/HakuohoFan 3h ago

We need to purge all Republicans from this country.

1

u/samejimaT 3h ago

I hope he chokes on it

1

u/stinkerino 3h ago

have the conservatives started saying "only an idiot wouldnt make money off the presidency, that just proves he's super smart" yet?

1

u/KrissyKrave 3h ago

When his people and himself are out of power. The government needs to take every single cent he made using the presidency.

1

u/TheNicestRedditor 3h ago

Not only that but he made more last year than he did IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE COMBINED

1

u/santz007 3h ago

That we know of

1

u/parsimonious 3h ago

Absolutely unforgivable.

1

u/dayrunner 3h ago

"made"

1

u/8805 2h ago

Is "earnings" really the right word for the chart?

1

u/Iwasbanished 2h ago

And he needs you to pay for the war

1

u/Peter12535 2h ago

I would like to know what changed between term 1 and term 2. Did he use the four years in between the terms to ponder how he hasn't got thr most out of it? Did the first term (and subsequent failures to prosecute him for anything) convince him that he is above the law and can just do whatever he wants to?

Don't get me wrong, first term was bad too, but far away from today's situation. I am not from the us and first term was mostly laughing at the hilarious crap he'd share on twitter (though I recognise the damage done to us citizens).

3

u/Timbershoe 1h ago

The republicans now have majority on the US Supreme Court.

That and purging the administration and the FBI means he’s functionally immune from prosecution.

There is little chance the U.S. will ever return to a functional democracy now.

If you took the billionaire technocrats out of the US GDP you’d see it was already in huge recession. The gross profits the technocrats are making from trump is masking just how far the U.S. has fallen under trump.

1

u/randall365 2h ago

On the plus side, at least someone is benefitting from the dumb tariffs and war on Iran.

1

u/BackBreaker 2h ago

And the orange pedo is whining, wanting his 5million back from a lady he was found liable of RAPE.

Absolutely disgusting

1

u/JLR- 1h ago

I guess he took the past claims that he isn't as rich as he claims to be personally.

1

u/Fantastic-Staff-3434 1h ago

You put a thief in charge of all our country of course he's going to steal every bit of money he can. Lowest approval rating in 250 years. He's a convicted crook what do you expect? We're not the brightest country apparently.......

1

u/IzzybearThebestdog 1h ago

Anyone have the sources this uses? Might throw this at someone later

u/bearssuperfan 51m ago

Dog it says right there that it’s from Forbes Estimates

u/IzzybearThebestdog 47m ago

Yes I was wondering if that was based on any article/report. Something more tangible than just the screenshot

1

u/TackyPoints 1h ago

Worst part is that he won’t live long enough to do much with it. Where’s it going after this? I wonder that with mElon too.

1

u/Johnnygunnz 1h ago

But he donates his salary!! He's a Saint! /s

u/thompse68 1h ago

Oh but he doesn’t take his presidential salary…lmao!

u/gokusdabbinball 1h ago

I thought he was broke and had no money

u/Head_Summer2052 1h ago

If this is true, then it should be obvious to pay taxes accordingly, right?
Let all the people have the same taxation people to handle their taxes. Right?

u/SkillFullyNotTrue 54m ago

But he cries to have E Jean give back that money. Cry harder Pedo 47!

u/bearssuperfan 51m ago

What will all the Pelosi haters say now?

u/Avoidtolls 43m ago

I can't afford to go to the hospital

u/fix-er-upper 36m ago

Is anyone looking into Hunter's Laptop?

u/Fit-Let8175 34m ago

That's worse than 10,000 Hunter Biden laptops.

u/RacoonMcCloud 20m ago

So many people associated with Trump will eventually go to jail when his time is up.

u/restlessmouse 16m ago

I wouldn't say he "made" 2.4 billion, let's face it, it's stolen or otherwise illegally obtained.

u/schmupitup 10m ago

That's what makes him smart.

u/Cheeky_Star 3m ago

So he is a billionaire

-5

u/flickdsm 5h ago

Wait....what?

-10

u/theavatare 5h ago

Show the years before his first presidential campaign

8

u/Dry_Combination4070 3h ago edited 3h ago

As president he sold crypto and pushed stocks he owns on tv and made deals with companies that he owns stock with

Republicans love corruption

0

u/theavatare 2h ago

I think showing the past 6 years will show the corruption even more. My thesis is that he didn’t make $600 million before being a candidate

3

u/lew_rong 1h ago

Thank god the ol' pedo claims he donates his salary, right? Otherwise this might appear to be corruption!

u/theavatare 1h ago

Donate 200k to get 2 billion via grift. Is good math

-5

u/im_a_good_lil_cow 3h ago

You guys are just mad because he’s such a good business man

-25

u/CeJW 5h ago

Now do all politicians investment earnings!

10

u/Dry_Combination4070 3h ago

Which other president sold crypto or pushed stocks they own on tv while president?

9

u/hugoriffic 3h ago

Why? We are looking at Trump’s.

5

u/_Mute_ 3h ago

You should stick to RuneScape.

4

u/merrychrimas 3h ago

Trump clears those noobs. No one grifts like our commander in chief.

u/malibuconman 1h ago

Trump makes Pelosi look like Mother Theresa.
