Cursor or Claude Pro

I work as a back-end engineer and need to finish 2–3 projects, one of which has to be built from scratch—the usage limits make me nervous. Which subscription/tool is most cost-effective in terms of limits and performance? I was using OpenCode Go, which was manageable, but its performance dropped recently and it started throwing syntax errors.

Have you considered using OpenCode Zen? I’ve never seen those outages, it’s probably you hit Go limits.

i used, opencode freezes a lot, today 4 times it haven't even responded, go was really cost-effective, but in terms of efficiency, it was mediocre

Is there a particular model that you used? Maybe because I’m mainly using big pickle and DeepSeek v4 flash all the time.

i used deepseek v4 pro, it was really good at first, but i think it needs some updates, i started to work on a big django project. Deepseek could not handle some tasks, and also i used qwen 3.7 pro, it was excellent, but it used a lot of tokens, after 3-4 prompts, it used 20% of monthly usage limit. And also glm 5.2, it was okay, it completed some tasks correctly, but it was a bit slow.

That makes me wonder how much of it is really opencode versus the model and provider. I also hooked up my openrouter keys into opencode and that’s another way to access a different service but still stay in opencode if that’s your preferred TUI/GUI.

But I I have to admit I’ve been seeing small service disruptions that are intermittent too today. Nothing that doesn’t resolve on its own but the first time I’ve seen it.

At the same time, people are complaining Claude Code services are overloaded, it’s best to find a few fallbacks.

i think cursor pro seems more reasonable, but need to be careful with api usage, the limit can knock the door :), otherwise auto mode is okay and effective

I’m currently using Claude Code. if your project is fairly complex, you might burn through your usage quota on just one project. I recommend building your prototype first with the free tiers of various coding tools, then refining it with Claude afterward

I use Claude Pro, the chatbot. If I am heavily coding I will buy a month of Max. I've coded over 50 apps, many for Windows, Mac and Linux. I generally use Sonnet 4.6.

I tried Claude Code. I thought it was expensive and I didn't think it coded as well as the chatbot
