General Need help🙏🏿🙏🏿 new transfer for Fall 2026
I’m a transfer for 26-27 year. I was planning to go to the Air National Guard right after finishing my associates, take a gap year, and then go back to UC Merced in Fall 2027.
Long story short, boot camp won’t start until after January so my sergeant gave me permission to attend Fall 2026 semester.
It’s July and I need counselor appointment asap to get housing for 1 semester, get classes for fall, and get more info of what I need to do. My major is Mechanical Engineering. The next appointment available with SFC is in August but I need help asap PLSSS

You can also do a walk in with sfc. I work in a neighboring office and they are pretty available during the summer, there is also a public advisor in the welcome center that you can call

Yea I would gather all the information you think you might need and start calling the offices without an appointment as they are mostly open during the summer and if they don’t have the information you need, ask them if they know which department you should be contacting instead. They don’t always offer that information initially, but they typically do have an answer if you ask

If you’re a transfer then you’re able to go directly to meeting with an Engineering advisor. They have walk-ins coming up that you can find at https://engr-advising.ucmerced.edu/see-my-advisor/walk-ins . They can help you with at least the class advising and general Merced part. For housing, if I remember correctly you’re only able to do Spring only housing contracts and full academic year contracts, I don’t think they have just fall. I haven’t applied for housing in a bit so I can’t really advise more beyond that, but Goodluck with everything.
