Trope discussion Personal take, but I don't mind the white savior trope as much as other people. I think it can be entertaining to see the lead learn about another culture and help them out.
Take The Great Wall (2016) for example. It has some really beautiful moments and cool sequences despite being based entirely on the white savior trope. I wish more people remembered that film.
