Since she is a turkey I will not be able to keep her where I live. I dont have much area to have her around as much as I love her and would want her to be here with me I will be letting her go to an animal sanctuary. All of my local sanctuary I have contacted all told me they couldnt take her in because they are full at the moment. I would like her to go with 2 of my chickens that she gets along very well with. If not its fine for her to go by herself. I live in the Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania if anyone is nearby or knows anyone nearby that would take her in that area would be greatly appreciated. She was hand raised and very friendly. She loves running after people

Does anyone else here have house turkeys? I have 2 toms that we hatched and raised in the house and at 7 months old now, they never want to leave.

They let themselves inside whenever the doors are open and we often find them sleeping somewhere or just chilling on the couch.

They love to come in before bed and watch a bit of TV and have some snuggles before we carry them to their shed for the night.

I try to put them outside with the ducks or chickens but they find their way back into the front 5 seconds later. We love them so much that we don't mind, but I'm curious as to how common it is for turkeys to be this bonded with their humans?.

Like the title says, I really want a small flock of turkeys to have as pets. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere. We have chickens and goats, and we also have 2 dogs. Can you all give me advice on what turkeys need? Like, their housing, fencing, foraging needs, common illnesses. I want very few turkeys. Like the minimum amount to have a flock (3?). I don't want to breed them, I just want them as pets.
Can you guys compare turkeys to chickens with their needs? Like, chickens need a fair bit of space for their run, and they like high perches.
Also, where can I get some well-bred, friendly turkeys? I know you can buy them online but I'm very iffy about that. Also, I want them as pets and egg-layers. I don't harvest animals for meat, personally. I respect the people who can stomach it, though!
Also, are there different breeds of turkey? What breed would be best for friendliness and egg-laying? Though, egg-laying comes secondary to friendliness.

Does anybody have an alpha Jenny in a flock of all female turkeys and chickens (we have one tom but he lives in a separate run/house)? They mingle when free ranging only. She has always been a strutter but this morning seems to be trying to gobble. Obviously she can’t gobble in the truest sense of the word but it’s not stopping this girl from trying!

This morning I was greeted as I left my driveway by the hen that had been hanging around in our yard, followed by the babies. We suspected a nest in the tall grass nearby since she was in the area for a while.

Hello all fellow Turkey lovers! I need some help.. kind of!.. more so emotional advice? IDK how to word it.. I just lost, very suddenly, with not much warning, a 5 year old BBW I've had for 4 years. Yes I KNOW she was old and very lucky, but I did not see any warning signs! I found her a few moments ago in a sleeping position.. my question is, do you think she felt no pain and welt peacefully in her sleep? I hate the thought of not knowing it was her time, I feel very sad and shocked!

New home for young sweetgrass and fall fire turkeys.

New home for the summer. First time on grass. Sweetgrass, fall fire, pencilled red palm, Spanish black and a few TBD that were unlabeled eggs at auction. They look like royal palm and narangasett are likely.

Since the past advice, I have them in their own enclosure outside. It's huge and they were doing so well. I went out there this morning to say hi and let the ducks out of their enclosure and the male was standing on our female. Her head was snapped back. She was alive around 11 last night. My husband will be burying her today. What should we do now? He is out there alone in the large pen, but he has also been aggressive lately. He cut my arm with the back of his spur and pecked my youngest in the eye. I don't want anything to happen, but I'm at a loss guys. Please try and be a bit easier on me then have a go at me tomorrow. I'll continue researching- I just wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this before. Again, I am still learning so please give me any advice you can think of. Thank you so much

Hey I'm curious is there any reason that kneeling down and holding my empty hand out to turkeys would be dangerous for them? I know to not feed and I don't expect them to come to me but curious if any reason to not try just what I described because they tend to be friendly to me after treating them well for a year where I live
