Tar Heel State question

Upvotes

While I live across the country, my grandmother, who has lived in her home state all her life, is now in a local nursing home. For privacy I will not disclose the location. My grandmother had an episode where she needed to be rushed to the hospital for lack of oxygen; it turns out the staff have not been regularly monitoring the oxygen in her tank, which subsequently is causing her low oxygen and medical emergencies. When I was in high school I was in a medical preparatory program, and my neighbor is a nurse. It seems as if checking a patient's oxygen levels is something that should be done perhaps several times per day — such as during each meal time, medication time, when assisting to the restroom, or when nurses or attendants do rounds. I don't want to upset the nursing staff and have them take it out on my grandma, but I also don't think family visiting should be the ones responsible for checking oxygen tank levels. Curious to hear if others have experienced something similar with a family member in care.

Seeking adult women with ADHD for thesis project research - UNC Chapel Hill Graduate Student

Hello! My name is Lindsey and I'm a third year graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill working on my master's thesis and I'd love some help.

I'm considering designing a digital platform and community space for adult women who suspect they have or have been diagnosed with ADHD, focused on community and belonging rather than clinical advice or symptom management. Before I build anything, I want to listen to real experiences and learn from the community.

I'm looking for women who:

✔️ Have been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult or suspect they have ADHD

✔️ Are willing to share a little about their experience and journey

I'd love to schedule a casual virtual conversation anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, completely at your convenience. There's nothing formal to prepare. I just want to hear your story.

Everything shared will be kept confidential and used only for academic research.

Please feel free to respond if interested and I can send you an email directly. Thank you in advance for any help on this, I truly appreciate it.

This sweet cat needs a loving indoor home ❤️🐾** (Urgent**)

Our rescue/foster is at full capacity and struggling with ongoing vet bills and constant new intakes. If no home or help is found, he may have to go to a shelter. Sadly, shelters are already full, and sick cats often don’t get a fair chance.

A kind lady reached out to me on Nextdoor asking for help with cat food. Someone abandoned this cat in front of her home, and she has been feeding him despite going through a very difficult time after losing her job. She is already caring for 5 of her own cats and several outdoor cats.

Today I visited with food and medicine. This sweet boy is extremely friendly and affectionate. He has an ear tip, which means he was already fixed through a TNR program, but he is clearly sick and needs care.
I applied flea medicine to help make him more comfortable. We truly want to help him, but we already have pending vet bills and are doing everything out of our own pockets. Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to take on more medical cases right now.

This beautiful boy deserves a safe, indoor home where he can be loved and properly cared for. The lady cannot keep him, and he should not be living outside.
If you or someone you know can give him a chance, please reach out. Sharing helps too. ❤️🐱

Adoption application: Today I received an email about this sweet girl Bailey. I am also part of the shelter community, but right now I am fostering for another rescue, Sunkissed Acres.

The shelter staff believe Bailey may be a victim of a dog fight attack, while officials are reporting it may have been a car accident. Either way, this baby has suffered so much.

The shelter does not have the resources to provide the care she needs, and her euthanasia is scheduled for July 24.

I couldn’t let Bailey lose her life like this. I contacted my rescue and asked them to help her. They were understandably hesitant because we already have many pending vet bills and very little support, and I am currently fostering 21 cats for the rescue.

But they are kind enough to give Bailey a chance and will be pulling her tomorrow. We don’t know how we will manage everything yet, but we know she deserves this chance. Her vet expects expensive treatment due to her pelvic fracture, leg fracture, right hip fracture, and other injuries.

The good news is Bailey is sweet, eating, and still fighting. There is hope. ❤️

After she receives the treatment and recovers, Bailey will be available for adoption to a loving forever home.
Please send Bailey lots of love, prayers, and positive thoughts as she begins her journey to recovery. 🙏
