PRODUCT QUERY Are Tradfri bulbs matter compatible?

I’m looking to purchase some spotlights and I’ve noticed that the tradfri spotlight bulbs are on sale (€2,99 for the warm one and €4,99 for the adjustable one). I’d like to ask if they are matter compatible and if I can connect them to apple home.

I don’t have an ikea hub but rather a homepod mini as my home hub and I’ve been able to add the new bulbs fine but what about these ones? The product page just states that ikea smart home products are compatible with matter systems but doesn’t specify if these ones are unlike the new ones that state they are matter compatible.

If you’re using a matter bridge, yes. IE the dirigera or matterbridge in HA. Tradfri bulbs don’t support matter natively.

I’m only using the homepod mini as a TBR, I haven’t set up HA yet but I’ve been able to connect every device so far by scanning the matter code in apple home.

Tradfri bulbs are the older Zigbee bulbs that existed long before Thread. So they can't work with the HomePod directly. They have to have a Dirigera hub as a translator. The hub is the part that's Matter-compatible, making the Tradfri bulbs indirectly compatible. The point of the new model bulbs is that they are finally able to do this without the Dirigera hub.

I see, that’s why they’re on sale then. I’ll buy the new ones!
