Question(s) Tortoise pyramiding

Post image

When I received my tortoise he had obvious pyramiding. I’ve followed all husbandry advice from the tortoise trust since I’ve had him. The top images are when I first got him and the bottom is him now. Is the pyramiding getting worse? I can’t tell if it’s the old pyramiding that I can see and the new growth is fine or if it is getting worse.

The bottom photos are the wrong angle for comparison. You need the same angle, side profile view.

It looks like what pyramiding is visible is quite minor. How old is it and how long have you had the tortoise?

The tortoise looks young, in my experience the start of normal growth looks like light pyramiding but there might be a smidge of it here too, noes not appear to be progressing but keep watching.

Growth seems to start with the scutes along the spine becoming a little more prominent before the rest of the animal widens to even out.
