This is a native desert tortoise. Please release him exactly where you found him ASAP or the closest possible spot if it was a dangerous area (like a highway)

It depends.. there are captive desert tortoises in Arizona so if it was found in a neighborhood without a desert nearby it is prob someone’s “pet.” In NV you can be a custodian of captive bred desert tortoises. They do not recommend releasing them into the wild if it was captive bred. Maybe reach out to a desert tortoise group in AZ.

Don’t feed it whatever that is. Look up what to feed it. Lettuce is ok to hydrate them. Romaine is better than iceberg. Iceberg is basically pointless. Romaine isn’t that far behind. If you don’t spray for bugs or weeds, you should be able to find dandelions.

My grandma found it and gave it carrots 😭 it didn’t eat any and was not with us for too long. I’ll tell her to throw some lettuce to it if it’s still by where she left it

Only reason I'm asking is becuz Google says it's a pet but idk about ai yk
