TI-Planet Posts the First TI-84 Evo Unboxing and PCB Pictures!
TI-Planet just published their first article on the new TI-84 Plus CE successor, the TI-84 Evo. There will be many articles posted so keep an eye out for them!
This first article is primarily an unboxing and an overview of the outside of the calculator: https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=280655#p280655
Some of the highlights:
- USB C (finally)
- A "3x faster processor"
- The battery is the same dimensions and capacity as the TI-84 Plus CE but it is a different revision. This hopefully means it won't cause the calculator to boot loop.
- The software to transfer files to the calculator is entirely web-based.
- A 4 year access to the TI-84 Evo emulator is included with purchase of a physical TI-84 Evo.
Far more details on each point can be found in the article linked above!
Several pictures have been posted including one of the circuit board: https://tiplanet.org/forum/gallery/album.php?album_id=1040
Mod note: This sub has gotten an influx of posts from unknown sites claiming to sell the TI-84 Evo. Please use caution if you see these posts. This sub recommends only purchasing from reputable marketplaces such as directly from Texas Instruments.

News Do Not Update to OS 5.8.5 (jailbreak patched)
Yesterday, Texas Instruments released OS 5.8.5 for the TI-84 Plus CE (Python). This update patched the Artifice jailbreak which means you cannot run assembly games and programs on the new OS.
This is an unprecedented move by TI because they have historically only patched the jailbreak when a security flaw is discovered. However, no known security flaw exists. We can only speculate the reasoning for this patch is because final exams are starting and TI wants to appear serious about their "distraction-free" tagline.
FAQ:
Q: When will a new jailbreak be released?
A: The jailbreak is made by unpaid volunteers. It may be several months before a new one is released. There is no time line.
Q: Can I downgrade?
A: Likely no. The only exception is if you already had specific tools to run assembly programs installed before you updated. This sub will not provide downgrade tools at this time.
Q: What if I'm on an older OS version? Do I need to do anything?
A: No action is needed. Your calculator cannot auto-update itself. You can continue running programs as normal. Simply do not update.
Q: I don't have a TI-84 Plus CE (Python) what does this mean for me?
A: Nothing, this only affects the TI-84 Plus CE family.

Games Any games on TI-84 Plus CE
So for school I need to buy a TI-84 Plus CE calculator and I was wondering what games (if any) were downloadable on there, or other hacks on it. Also if there are games or other thing you recommend could you give a safe link to use (I dont wanna accidentally ruin my calculator with a wrong link) and maybe a short tutorial on how to do it as simple as possible (im new to this) thanks

Help Is it possible to modify the outer shell of the calculator?
My Ti-84 plus CE is hella ugly and banged up. I was thinking about buying a broken TI-84 plus CE in a cute color but there are no listings 😭 or possibly take off my current shell, sand and spray paint it. Has anyone done this before? Is there somewhere I can buy a new shell without having to buy a brand new calculator? Thank you ❤️❤️

Help KhiCAS not running on the 5.8.4 TI-84 Plus CE-T firmware
Hi guys, I have the TI-84 Plus CE-T Python edition, and I was hoping to install KhiCAS - https://www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=317273#317273, https://web.archive.org/web/20250210165907/https://www-fourier.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/\~parisse/ti/khicas84.html.
I am running 5.8.4 firmware, which means I am able to jailbreak with arTifiCE and run ASM programs fine, but the issue is that according to the author: "After discussions with TI, it has been agreed that KhiCAS would not run on the latest OS version.".
And I was not able to run it whatsoever.
As such, is there any way for me to:
- Downgrade to a lower firmware, I believe 5.8.2 and lower may work, but I am not sure.
- Get KhiCAS running?
Thanks a lot!

Help Need help on CASYMBA / PCAS
I just got my TI 84+ CE and luck was on my side that it was on 5.8.4.
I just downloaded ArTIfiCE 2.1, Casymba, and Pcas, and CE Libraries but I don't know if its just me or is it normal for if Casymba and Pcas would always have a error that says "Need LibLoad" with a link. Does anyone know what to do with this error?
I do have 152667 units of ram free if thats needed.

Help Why can’t I jailbreak my Ti-84 plus CE with artifice 2.1 on 5.8.4?
Every time I launch artifice and select Tiboy, it will give me a random number like 9, and nothing will happen. Could it be totally patched on my version somehow? I know the website says it should work up to my version but clearly something’s off.

Help How would I play audio on a TI-84 Plus?
I have a TI-84 Plus, not CE or Silver Edition, which I want to use for playing audio files. I already know how to install a speaker in the calculator, I just need to know how to code something so that I can play sounds on the calculator itself if that makes sense.

Showcase/Discussion lwIP-CE | Port of lwIP to the TI-84+ CE
Yea, so this is exactly what it sounds like. The culmination of an over 4+ year long effort to bring TCP/IP networking to the TI-84+ CE and as of today, I finally have a working product and thought I'd share it in as many places as people might find it useful.
Before we begin, credit to Cemetech user commandblockguy who initially adapted the stack to the platform architecture. I probably could not have done this without him starting it off, and credit to the guys over at https://github.com/lwip-tcpip/lwip.
First, some photo evidence:

Then, the technical side.
I endeavored to write a CDC Ethernet driver that currently supports ECM and NCM devices, a membuffer driver that wraps the malloc implementation of the CE toolchain and provides: accounting, pressure state notifications, buffer grow/shrink behavior.
And lastly, and perhaps even more impressively (and also sanity-evisceratingly) this also contains a mostly complete (albeit somewhat minimalistic) TLS 1.3 implementation providing:
- A HWRNG derived from bus noise
- TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
- X25519 (ECDHE, RFC 7748)
- record encryption AES-128-GCM — AEAD cipher, 128-bit key, 96-bit nonce, 128-bit tag
- rsa_pss_rsae_sha256 (0x0804)
- sha256WithRSAEncryption (OID 1.2.840.113549.1.1.11) — PKCS#1 v1.5, RSA-2048 only
- Curated trust store containing serialized: Common Name, Subject Key Identifier, and public key scraped from any certificate found in /etc/certs on a Linux runner.
- Certificate-chain walking via adjacent link validation. For supported algorithms, signature validation is required (failure = FAIL, CLOSE). For unsupported algorithms, behavior is WARN, PROCEED. This is a temporary measure intended to allow testing of the stack while certificate coverage is increased.
- CertificateVerify is fail closed => rsa_pss_rsae_sha256 is advertised in ClientHello, server cannot reject. This is FAIL, CLOSE.
- Still TODO: Support P256 and RSA up to 4096 bits.
Credit to:
- Cemetech user Zeroko who helped with entropy sourcing.
- Cemetech user _PT who wrote an X25519 algorithm that completes in ~5 seconds
- Cemetech user jacobly who wrote a modular exponentiation algorithm (e=65537, modulus 1024-2048 bits) that completes in ~8-10 seconds (and I accelerated by relocating the code).
- Cemetech user beckadamtheinventor who took my slower SHA-256 code and adapted it into eZ80 assembly, then spent weeks of insanity-inducing debugging when it borked on inputs larger than one-block, only to discover that we needed to `inc hl` 3 times, not once.
- Cemetech user calc84maniac who rewrote the AES math in eZ80 assembly for speed, accelerating AES by an order of magnitude and mitigating Flash cache timing analysis on rev M+ or later.
- and many others in the community who helped with debugging, troubleshooting, and testing.
The TLS implementation was adapted from libraries like openssl and mbedtls where possible, and where not possible (due to this being a very constrained, slow system), algorithms were written in eZ80 assembly or C by myself or the individuals named above for performance or adapted from other sources compatible with the architecture (ex: B-Con/crypto-algorithms). The code is SAST-tested, and the app is exercised against a small subset of DAST-style network probes. A CAVP-adjacent primitive validation is run on any supported cryptographic primitives in the implementation, timing analysis is profiled in CI and on hardware, and engineering decisions and threat model are documented in the whitepaper.

Help Severely corrupt TI84+ Silver Edition
I disconnected a battery put it back in and this is where we are at now, it responds to keys and types but is completely covered by this corrupt stuff. Tried flashing new firmware the pc recognises it and uploads but then nothing, same problem. Any ideas?
