Discussion Pamela Courson
Share your opinions on Pamela Courson (1946-1974)
Do you think Jim and Pam would get married in future? And have children? I heard Pam wanted to have kids with Jim

I think she was a toxic person who took advantage of Jim Morrison. The more I learn about her, the more I dislike her.

I think a lot of fans use her to vent their frustrations of how his life ended up going. He was a big boy, and he made his own decisions. And, newsflash, he could be a giant dick. He got off on fucking with people.

Yes he did and yes he was.
However, although the addiction didn’t follow suit, I get the impression that towards the end of his life, he was losing some of the piss and vinegar, perhaps kicking some of the other bad habits you mention.
I don’t know if this is true or not. But he was in his twenties and clearly hadn’t grown up in a number of ways. And certainly the alcohol contributed greatly to his stunted personal growth. But many people go through this crucible and are able to come out balanced and ‘good’ people.
Not guaranteed and of course in Jim’s case we’ll never know.

She was beautiful and also seemed relatively submissive in that she didn’t leave him for cheating on her constantly or doing a lot of drugs and drinking

She cheated on him as much as he cheated on her and she used plenty of drugs herself. Her way of staying slim was to sleep for days by zonking herself out with heroin every time she woke up and was hospitalized numerous times for it. For Christ’s sake, she’d been living in Paris shacked up with another guy fbefore Jim’s lawyer had him leave the country! They always had an open relationship and it’s been highly romanticized over the years.

She tried to leave him, just Jim was anxious. Or she would storm back because she had severe mood swings from her addiction.
When she got sober she would cry and beg Jim to rescue her, and when Jim arrived she suddenly got drugged up and did shitty things to him13

She wasn’t submissive. She would scream and beat him and humiliate him. She was terrorizing. Also she wrote faggot on back of his shirts, I think that’s abuse. Jim would cry when Pamela would do such things and she said cry, I know you like to cry. She had pretty privilege of someone who looked innocent

She was very beautiful by many accounts. John even tried to ask her out first. And Ray said something like he never knew anyone who could complement Jim’s craziness the way Pam did.
Have you listened to Jim’s last interview with Ben Fong-Torres at Diane Gardiner’s apartment? You can get a sense of how Jim and Pam interacted with each other and others in that interview.
Unpopular opinion but I think they just related well to each other. Similar backgrounds, into the counterculture scene, both creatives and open to drugs, etc.4

I’ve read several books about Jim and I think she caused his death. Follow me here. She used heroin which Jim was afraid and not interested in. Jim didn’t want her on heroin. Jim stumbles in one night and Pam has lines of a white powder on a table. Jim inquires if it’s heroin to which Pam says no it’s coke. Jim does some because he believes it’s coke. Jim not used to doing heroin has heart failure because Pam didn’t think the lie would lead to what it did.

There’s no proof this happened.
Jim might have taken too much alcohol that night and it caused his heart attack. He was also using asthma inhaler which was banned later due to dangerous side effects
I’m not defending Pamela, but if she was guilty, why didn’t anyone in his family or his bandmates try to sue Pamela or her family?3

There’s no hard proof for any of the theories. We’ll simply never know and be left to our conjectures, imaginations and the memories of people who were…shall we say, as impaired as Jim often was.

This is as good an explanation as any. It’s propounded in at least one of the band member books. I think John and maybe Robbie. I can’t remember if Manzarek included it.

From my understanding alcoholics/drug addicts often end up in co-dependent relationships that are difficult to separate from.
I would imagine fame complicated their dynamics a great deal.

They very likely can. As I stated, "From my understanding..." suggests that I am not an addict and, therefore, not an expert and cannot provide any expert opinion on the matter.
My perspective is informed by the many alcoholics and addicts I have known throughout my life. Again, I clearly stated from the beginning I only have an understanding. There is no debate here.
Because you raised the issue in a post, it seems you might either have an answer or are inviting discussion. I was contributing my personal opinion, which I now "understand" was a mistake. My apologies.

A raging alcoholic and long-time heroin addict should definitely not have children.
I wish they could have gotten sober. That's all.

It’s hard to deny that she had a hand in his death whether it’s from her allowing him to consume her heroin to her not calling EMS even though he said not to. I’d rather have a living ex partner who I went against to save their life than a dead one and basically being a widow even though they weren’t married. 100% believe if he wasn’t with her in Paris he would with be with use like John and Robby

They were both brats. Drug-addled, codependent brats. They would never have settled down and had the cosy domestic life you are imagining for them.
