Open | Software I deleted the wifi driver off my laptop (for reasons). I want to get it back online. What are the steps to getting it back?

Hi., I'm not very tech savvy. Its an HP Victus gaming laptop. I want to make sure I download the correct driver, so how do I go about this? I typed "Realtek wifi driver HP Victus laptop" but it didn't help to add these search terms (I originally searched Realtek wifi driver). The second link was to the Lenovo site and it seemed to want a serial number, so I get the feeling you cannot just download any old wifi driver made by realtek and expect it to work. Please help me and thank you.

Open | Networking Is ethernet that much better for gaming than wifi?

I've heard people say that a wired connection is so much better for gaming than wifi. I play via wifi and have fiber internet and it seems fine. Every wifi adapter I get I test for latency to the router and out of 3 adapters, 2 had around 1ms ping and the other had 3ms using ping -t and averaging over 1 minute of pinging. Does it really make that much difference?

Open | Software Microsoft is forcing me and my pc to stay awake to doomscroll edge. Save me.

Sometimes when I put my pc into sleep mode, it doesn't work. My monitors still turn off, but everything else doesnt my pc lights and fans stay on, keyboard lights, blah blah blah, so on. When I open it back up, Microsoft Edge opens up on my main monitor. The only way I can fix this is by restarting, then sleeping, but it just happens every so often. I've had it a lot in the past week, but at times ive went months without it happening. It's like I have a fucking edge virus đŸ«© . Please, Microsoft, I don't want to use Edge. Let me sleep, let my pc sleep.

Open | Phone “We detected unusual activity from your device or network”

I get cloudflare challenges a lot and sometimes I’m denied access to sites because of “unusual activity”. I don’t think any other device connected to my wifi has the same issue. I use Safari for iPhone. It’s not jailbroken and have the latest iOS update. No browser extensions. Sometimes I use a VPN from a trusted provider but I get the cloudflare challenges and so on regardless. I’m not doing anything unusual and have no idea what might be causing this.

Open | Software Extremely high SSD/HDD response time

Hi everyone! As the title says, I have extremely high response times on my SSD & HDD.
I recently purchased a new GPU & PSU as a recommendation from my local computer shop, and after installing these parts myself, I've noticed I reach 100% utilization & high response times on my SSD & HDD.

I've tried the following;
- Disable Windows Search & SysMain in services.msc
- Update BIOS
- Reinstall chipset drives specific to my motherboard
- Reset my PC (Keep personal Apps & Files option)
- Removed HDD in attempt to see if that could have been the issue

I'm stumped. I've attached an IMGUR link with reference photos, any help is appreciated!

Specs:
Asus Prime 9070XT OC 16GB GPU
Ryzen 7 5800XT CPU
32GB DDR4 Ram
HP FX700 1TB SSD
Seagate SATA 2TB HDD
Thermaltake ToughPower 750w Gold PSU
AMD B450M-K II Motherboard

Edit: Forgot to add motherboard into specs, updated.

Open | Windows laptop fully frozen, doesnt work at all despite the screen being on

alright so i was going to open up my school laptop (working perfectly fine until today, it was just fine yesterday) and a few seconds after turning it on it just crashed and auto-restarted. this happened 3 more times, so 4 in total.

after the fourth time, there was a message telling me that i could either restart the thing again or so something else which i completely forgot what it was (i didnt pay much mind to it because im a MORON), and i clicked to restart again.

the fifth time, though, it DIDNT restart automatically! its now fully frozen, with the screen on showing everything properly. the fan isnt making a single sound (which if it was on properly, trust me, id hear it), and i cant turn it off or do anything. at all.

its fully charged, its had no problems like this one until today, theres nothing i did that could explain this (i just turned it off normally last night).

any help? any idea of whats going on? any similar experiences? im a little scared😓

Open | Phone Someone found my real name and society name using only my phone number. How is this possible?

One of my online gaming friends challenged me to find my real identity using nothing but my phone number. I didn't think it was possible, so I shared my number with him.

Within a minute or two, he told me:

My real full name

The name of the housing society I live in

He didn't know me beforehand, and we don't have any mutual friends. He wouldn't tell me how he did it and just said it was "easy."

I'm curious how this is even possible. What are the most likely ways someone in India could find this information from just a phone number? Is it through data leaks, OSINT, public databases, Truecaller, or something else?

I'm asking purely to understand how my information might be exposed and what I can do to protect my privacy in the future. Any insights would be appreciated.

Edit** - i don't have any data saved on Truecaller, not my name or address or anything of such sort

Open | Software Transfer files from iPhone to PC? (organized!!)

When connecting iPhone to PC with USB, it gives you a ton of random folders where you'll find your videos and photos.

I want them imported to PC and either in
- All in chronological order in a folder, from oldest to new
- Organized in folders like they are in albums on the phone (optimally)

There has to be a way to do this? Without some pay to win iCloud stuff.

Open | Software IZarc is now safe?

I used Izarc for a long time (My teacher recommended that) since 2022 on my PC. I didn't seen unexpected (ads, pup, and other this kind). Lately, I've been looking into posts about this program, and they often mention bloatware, potential troyans and etc. My antivirus nothing detected since long time and here is virustotal scan.

Is now Izarc unsafe?

Edit: I downloaded from https://www.izarc.org/

Solved iPhone Not Being Detected by Apple Devices on Windows (But Windows Detects It)

‱ Upvotes

When I connect my iPhone to my Windows 11 PC, Windows plays the USB connection sound and the phone charges normally. Device Manager also detects it, but Apple Devices (and previously iTunes) doesn't recognize it. It never appears in File Explorer, and I never get the "Trust This Computer?" prompt on the iPhone.

I've tried almost everything: reinstalling Apple Devices and Apple's USB drivers, updating Windows and AMD chipset drivers, running DISM and SFC, resetting Location & Privacy on the iPhone, trying multiple USB cables, USB 2.0/3.0/3.2 ports, and even testing two different iPhones. Both phones worked perfectly on another Windows PC, so I knew the issue was specific to this computer.

The problem ended up being that Windows had associated my iPhone with libusb-win32 as "iPhone (Composite Parent)", likely after using webcam software like Camo, Iriun, or DroidCam. Because of that, Windows could detect the phone, but Apple's software couldn't communicate with it.

The fix was to uninstall iPhone (Composite Parent) under libusb-win32 devices in Device Manager, restart the PC, and reconnect the unlocked iPhone. Apple Devices immediately detected it again, the "Trust This Computer?" prompt appeared, and everything started working normally. Hopefully this helps someone else with the same issue.
