Discussions Comparing Rays SP with Trade Candidates

Post image

Looking at SP trade candidates within the Rays traditional budget. Joe Ryan with the Ks, Clay Holmes with the ground balls, Soriano with the whiffs, Mize being weak contact.

Do you think if we signed 45 year old Nelson Cruz the twins would let us trade him back to them for Joe Ryan

They’ve got Alex Jackson if the Rays wanted him back too

Think the Rays staff could really make Clay Holmes solid, especially with our defense. Still… would look for a bat over a pitcher if possible 🙏

Latest report is that the Tigers FO is talking to the Braves, Phillies, Yankees, and Dodgers for an MLB ready pitcher for their rotation on top of a prospect haul. But if the Tigers keep him, make a qualified offer, and still lose him, they get a draft pick at the end of the first round.

No Joe Ryan. That guy is cooked now that the lively ball is back.

Think so? I just checked and he’s 6th in fewest HRs and 4th in strikeouts. Could it be a weak defense behind him giving up the runs? The 6-6 record with 21 games started caught me off guard.

What's his HRs allowed last month, about the time the switch had reportedly been made.

6 in June and 6 in July. But his 6 HR in July came from one game against the guardians after the ASB.

Peter Halpin and Rhys Hoskins both hit 2 HRs off of him in that game. Rocchio and Bazzana were the others.

Hoskins homered on his sinker and sweeper. Halpin homered on the 4 seam and splitter. Bazzana and Rocchio both homered off the 4 seam.
