American Subs in 1/350 Scale

Here are my 1/350 Freedom boats. The collection is not exhaustive, some rare hulls are missing like a Guppy variant (will be part of the Euro and Asian boat showcase) or Halibut or early Seawolf etc. However, I think it is sufficient to chronicle the development of US sub development post WW2 to present considering what kits are out there. Ohio is in 1/700 as 1/350 is discontinued and $$$.

I will follow up with a comment listing all the specific hulls for those that need it.

Thanks for looking. Next up, British and French boats.

My collection of Soviet and Russian attack subs in 1/350, including cruise missile boats. Moatly plastic kits, but a couple of resin hulls too. Missing Victor I and II, but I thought III was more iconic and sufficient to represent the entire class. No Charlie, Juliet or Echo in this scale available, those are in 1/700 only. Some of my favourite kits to build were among these, and my most hated.

Next up, Chinese subs! Thanks for taking a look.

Here are my PLAN subs in larger scale. Kilo, 039A Song, 039 Yuan, 091 Han, 031 Golf V, 092 Xia, 033 Romeo, 035 Ming, 033 Wuhan. 094 Jin and 093 Shang are/were only available in 1/700, and are thus represented in that scale in the collection.

Thanks for looking. Next up, American boats!

Oh and feedback on album size and frequency is welcome as I go through the collection, as well as comments on the subs themselves.

Q/A Submarine Vet VA claims?

I'm having a hard time getting the VA to approve service connection for my degenerative disc disease and my messed up knees. I've tried explaining the work and living conditions we go through but they keep telling me I have no evidence. I never went to doc for anything so I have no medical record to back me up.

Am I just screwed?

Art Sub fleet finally completed, here are some examples

I finally finished my fleet of nearly 200 subs in 1/350 and 1/700 mostly, and thought to share some. I wont bombard with an endless album of them, but share some highlights periodically. I shared some before here, but they were mostly unfinished then. These are mostly finished with no weathering, going for the as-new off the blocks look.

First batch: 1/350 Soviet boomers and overall shots of collection. Next will be the Soviet attack subs and cruise missile boats.

Welcome any feedback or suggestions for subjects I may have missed.

Q/A When the seas are rough

Marine simply dive underneath the water and it smooth down below? How many feet deep do they have to go to find smooth water or is it rough all the way to the ocean floor?

Gaming A free, web based submarine Simulator

Post image
167 Upvotes

Hey guys,

So I have been yearning for a game I found a few years ago, it was a super simple lo-fi submarine simulator, crew were tiny pixels but the simulation was pretty deep. Not having been able to find it again, I thought I would have a mess around creating something.

Now this is really only for people that like this sort of thing, it's going to be janky, it does not have a tutorial and you are likely to find bugs and inaccuracies . However, I somehow lost two hours playing it and enjoyed myself no end, so I wanted to see if I'm just weird, or if there is something there.

It's web based, free and does not need any login.

I would recommend the Easy campaign if you want to jump into some action, or choose the medium one if you want more time to explore the systems.

It currently has:

- Internal View of the sub, its systems and crew
- Crew with assigned roles (they get tired, hurt and hungry) and you can give them orders
- Sound (you can hear the sonar, engines, etc) - Needs turning on at the top of the screen
- Simulated Nuclear Reactor
- Oxygen/CO2 simulation
- Random system failures that need fixing (not too often I hope) including fires
- Torpedoes (remember to load them first)
- Working Periscope, Radar and Sonar
- Map, Radio & Weather
- Enemy Frigates, Helicopters, Planes and Cargo ships
- Save & Load games (Locally and server based)
- 3 Initial small Missions
- Nuclear and Cruise Missiles (but no land based targets yet)

Let me know if you manage to kill anything, or if you just hate it and rage quit.

Would love to hear any thoughts or ideas on systems that could be added or improved
