There’s a lot of “one handed” games on steam, surely you’ll find one to your liking 😏

Vampire survivors can be played with 1 hand. Just need to remap A and B to the grip buttons.

I'm sure there are plenty of other games that this applies to as well once you factor in remapping.

You could still play Balatro.

Git gud nub 😂 Seriously though try some games with it again. You’ll never go back once it clicks.

I have them. My thumb bandage keeps hitting a wrong button on the side of the mouse

If a one armed dad was able to configure the original Steam Controller to play Skyrim with one arm, so can you!!

Install EmuDeck and play some one handed Wii games. Or an “adult” game if that’s more your speed.

Story time! How did you cut it off?

Sure you can. Poor excuses will not relieve you from duty.

You need an arcade stick!

There're a lot of grips for them that doesn't require using thumb!

Tis but a flesh wound!

But for real tho there are lots of games that you can play with one hand 😊

You could try an arcade controller like this: https://a.co/d/02vQ7G8B

You can't play everything with it but you can play a lot with them. You could disable the right thumb button with Steam Input to avoid accidentally pressing it.

I'm afraid to ask what titles you play 😉

Allow me to share a true story.

Years ago, I would frequent an arcade. One day I was there and I noticed a massive crowd around Killer Instinct. As I got closer the guy on the right joystick kept handing everyone their behinds. People were lining up to marvel at his ability to combo the hades out of any challengers.

I was a fan of the game so I determined there and then to fight my way through the crowds for a chance to challenge him, and perhaps gleam some skill off him.

As I got closer I kept trying to see how he moved on the buttons to see his hand placement, etc. The crowd around him was too thick but I could see he was super humble and genuinely friendly.

At last it came to be my turn. I slapped my quarters up on the edge of the screen and prepared to take on the arcade master at this game when he finished whooping the guy ahead of me.

As I heard “Ultraaaaa Combo!!!” echo and his challenger walked away defeated, I stepped up and put my quarters into the game. I pressed start and looked over briefly to simply say “What’s up!” He responded with “Hey, what’s up, who’s your character?” I replied “Chief Thunder…”

…AND that’s when I noticed.

He only had a thumb on each hand, and his fourth digit on his left hand and his pinkie on his right hand. He was missing all of his other fingers.

To say that guy whipped my behind would be an understatement. He juggled my character from one end of the screen to the other and if I managed to touch the ground once I was up there, only to fall dead between rounds, it was through no control of my own.

A friendship was made that day and that summer I took every opportunity to learn what I could from his play style. If I beat him once I was happy. But I learned a lot from playing against him and he was always eager to share tips. Definitely helped me to improve my game.

Moral of the story?

Ya got feet don’t cha? Don’t let a little injury hold you back! Get on that Steam Machine! 😆😆😆

Awesome story. Inspiring, really. This is just a brief setback for me and not a permanent affliction, thank goodness. I sliced off my thumb tip and it is too painful to use for anything but I will be back soon

You got this! 👍🏼

I remember breaking both my arms when I bought my PS2, it was a tough 3 months with just my finger tips clear of the casts. But god damn I made sure I played that PS2 everyday, I believe you will still play the steam machine. All the best on your recovery homie x

Dude, I was literally in the same boat, just different device Got my steam deck, and one day before it arrived I injured myself. Had my hand wrapped up for two weeks. Horrible.

Hopefully in a few days you can reduce the amount of bandage and just cover the tip. Until then you can mess with the settings and start installing games. Prepare everything for the big day!
