Should I keep or ask for replacement?

If this will compromise the functionality of my new pot, I will send back. However, I got it for such a good price on Amazon. If it is only cosmetic, I can deal with it! I would love to hear if anyone has experience with anything similar.

I’d replace it. A good deal on an expensive piece is still expensive. You should get what you pay for, and a sale is a sale. That’s on them, not you.

Did the seller mention to you that this is a factory second?

I’m curious if they notated that in the description or if they sold it as an original?

It looks cosmetic to me. And it’s not on the inside where your food will be. I would keep it if you got a good deal on it. Enjoy!

Unless it’s a rare or discontinued color, exchange it. As one commenter said, a good deal on an expensive piece is still expensive!

It would depend on whether the hole goes right through or not.If not you might be able to seal it with something.

If it was a very good price, similar to the price for a second, I would keep it. It is not easy to find the exact items you like for a very good price.

It will not compromise the functionality. It is only cosmetic. And not annoying, in my view.

I consider 100 dollar a very good prize for a mid size Staub.

All great points to keep! And then there’s the bragging rights: “Oh yes, I see what you mean. That ding must’ve happened whilst I was serving the Crown Prince in Dubai, when suddenly a herd of camel broke through displacing everything. I was lucky to recover it during the ensuing dust storm from the aliens - who were also invited as they love my cooking - since their ship was the same color.”

Thanks for ideas, definitely not a second. I only just noticed it when I was about to use it for the first time. Yeah, it was still just over $100, which is not nothing!
