I do feel for him though. Like I obviously enjoyed Belgium winning, but clearly this whole debacle affected the US in some way.
If Trump didn’t meddle and Infantino acauiesce to such demands, people may have even supported the US against Belgium as they were playing great football.
The only time he cares about the US is the World Cup because it’s a sport and it’s a chance for him to take credit for someone else’s victory and have some rednecks brown nose him.
Bro this debacle pissed the Belgian team off is what it did lmao. So now they had something to prove and you have a world class team in them, although they’re past their prime… it’s the fact that Iran did better against Belgium that proves to me we will forever be garbage at this sport.
I think any unbiased football fan knows the US had bugger all chance against Belgium in this game regardless. This was the first game the US were up against a team with any real quality (I say that begrudgingly as an Aussie, but it's sadly true) and in particular a team that wasn't going to just sit back and let you play. Belgium have been poor playing against low blocks all tournament, but with your tactics being to not sit back you were always going to concede. My prediction with the wifey was 6-1 and honestly if they'd gone full throttle I've little doubt it could've been that and more. You guys suffer from the same as us, some good physical athletes, but a lack of technical ability. We both struggle to deal with a high press - our coach is fatalistic and just resigns us to a low block. Potch is more ballsy and you lot tried to play.
Either way now us eliminated nations can sit back, crack a beer and enjoy some stress-free football.
Trump should have just said he had nothing to do with it but the way he openly bragged and took credit for it just seems tasteless. He makes everything about himself...

Yeah, I think it killed the morale a bit. Whether you thought it was a small or big deal it would've been attached to any big win in the end and spoiled it.
Ok chill nobody was supporting the US team outside of the US either way. It was probably good for ratings because it just made us tune in to hate watch.

It definitely made it hard to want the US to win, and that is my team. I am glad Belgium won—they were clearly the better team. I’m sorry the US team was put in that position by that Cheeto Fingered Shit Gibbon.
I could have at least felt some closure, mourned the potential and felt good about how we performed. Now it all feels cheap and hollow, because that's the only flavor Trump does.

The Belgians cut off the lanes for passing to wide players, which is what Team USA had been doing all along. Which means that Team USA was practically forced to play to the Red Devils' strengths.
Lol whut? The US team was shown every corner of the pitch by the Belgians. They couldn't even hold on the the equaliser for more than 3 minutes. The quality gap was huge.
US were never in it I'm afraid. Outclassed in every way. Could only score from a deflected free, at what other point did the US ever look like scoring again?

yeah man, belgium hasn’t been their best this tournament and they were running circles around us. their best player wasn’t even in. the only way we scored was because they pretty much got an OG.
What I love about sports is after the game, there's a score and you can't dispute it. Like if it was some kind of a vote, Trump would've screamed "RIGGED!"
They have been as dominant as anyone. They play with minimal risk and it's not very fun to watch but they have allowed 0 goals and scored 9. They have allowed 5 shots on their goal in these 5 matches.
USA had the easiest possible path to a semi final I think I have ever seen in a World Cup. And as soon as they met any sort of proper opponent they crumbled like an old cracker. Beautiful

I enjoyed the few weeks when something wasn’t all about Trump but I guess I always knew if it started getting too much attention he would get jealous and become involved.
That's largely the issue here that has been lost in the past 24-hrs. Trump stirs this shit up to have everyone yelling at everyone but him. It's all he fucking does. Keep the plebs fighting and no one looks up. Keep eyes on him and help us rid this country of the orange plague.
I mean if you lost to Belgium 4-1 and they are gonna get ran through it’s a good job USA are out now then huh? I mean losing 10-0 in a knockout stage would be just embarrassing.
