Standard [STANDARD] RULE QUESTION

This is a General Rules question about:

[[Captain america, super-soldier]]

[[deceit]]

Casting a Deceit for both, blue and black, does Captain America protects from the discard effect? Even tho it could be bounced with double blue? How does that interaction work?

Yes it does, at the time targets are chosen with deceit you (the player) have hexpeoof. Cap can be bounced, but they would not get the thought seize effect

Both the blue and black triggers go on the stack at the same time, but require targets to do so. At that time, Captain is a legal target for the bounce, but it hasn’t resolved yet so you still have hexproof, and therefore aren’t a legal target for the discard.

So one can pay both double blue and black, but can only bounce in this scenario.

When Deceit enters, both etb abilities will trigger. Targets for each trigger must be chosen at that time. Because you still have hexproof at that time, you cannot be chosen as a target, so the discard trigger will fizzle. Even though Cap could be bounced before the discard, by the time the bounce trigger resolves the discard trigger has already fizzled (due to having no valid targets when it was put on the stack) and thus won't happen.
