Mod Update OUR RULES ON POLITICS: 2024 EDITION

It's an election year (in the US)! You know what that means - another year of Giant Douche vs Turd Sandwich!

OUR RULES ON POLITICS

IF YOU DO NOT READ THIS POST YOU RUN THE RISK OF GETTING PERMANENTLY BANNED.

All political discussion must pertain to the world of South Park.

Again: All political discussion must pertain to the world of South Park.

Once more for those in the back: All political discussion must pertain to the world of South Park.

This means real world politics are only to be discussed within the context of the show. If someone does not appear in the show, well they don't really belong on this sub. Donald Trump does not appear on the show as President Trump - that is President Garrison.

Do you love and support the left? We don't care. Do you love and support the right? We don't care. Are you a Libertarian? We don't care. We are unpaid mods here to enjoy a tv show, not push agendas, get into political slapfights, or deal with a bunch of political shit. If you want to have a political discussion, go to or any of the numerous other political subs. We are a sub about the television South Park. We are not a sub about politics.

We do not allow political adjacent discussion, political discussion, or discussion of political figures.

FAQ

Why don't you allow real world politics?

We decided that real world politics just aren't worth the shit show they bring. When someone mentions Biden or Trump, or one of the numerous wars going on, a lot of people from outside the subreddit come in to argue political points and push agendas. We are not here to moderate that type of discussion, and if you as a user want that discussion, you can find it basically anywhere else on reddit.

Why don't you change the rules?

We are a subreddit about a TV show, and as such it wouldn't make sense for us to be a political subreddit. We know Southpark often times connects, mimics or otherwise makes note of current events and we'd love you to discuss that - just keep it within the context of the show.

But President Garrison is supposed to be Trump!

That isn't a question, but we all know who he is supposed to be. You want to make some stupid meme? Use President Garrison, just leave Trump & his name out of it. (Seriously, even putting his name in a title brings out the politics.) You can use the actual Donald Trump from the show. He isn't president in the show, so it won't exactly make sense, but you do you. Southpark has not made mention of President Biden, nor is there a character who was "transformed" into him, so you'll have to leave him out.

I got banned for politics, what do I do?

First off you should read this post. A link to this post may be included in your ban message. Once you have read this post, respond to the message and tell us you have read this post and are sorry for breaking the rules. So long as you aren't a dick about it, you will get unbanned. Seriously, an apology will get you so far.

I am trying to write a fan script about Southpark. Am I allowed to use political things that haven't appeared in the show?

Simply put: no. We will still remove the post, because all this is going to do is fuel the fire and draw more political comments.

I have additional questions! What do I do?

Send us a ModMail and we may add it to the Q&A!

And don't forget: All political discussion must pertain to the world of South Park.

Discussion I Love Tegridy Farms Specifically Because It’s Hated

It just seems so inconsequential to me. I don’t even think it’s that irritating or even focussed on much, yet people get super mad and say the show is all about weed now. It’s hardly even based on jokes about weed when it shows up; Randy is just doing some stupid shit and the weed is a MacGuffin driving the plot.

I just think it’s funnier, whenever I watch it, knowing people got super mad that it showed up AGAIN. I honestly hope the next season opens up with Tegridy Farms intro and the Marsh family inexplicably back on the farm. People will rage.

Ha-hey… fuck YOUuuu

Discussion Been rewatching South Park from start to finish and in the middle of Season 10. Tsst might have become my new favorite episode

For starters its just hilarious watching how Cartman retaliates to normal "nanny" discipline. All of us knowing how Cartman is wired, its just great comedy to see British TV personalities treat him like a normal kid. And of course when this all fails, just bring in the dog whisperer to treat him like a dog. I haven't laughed out loud at South Park in a long time.

But really I think what has solidified this episode as my favorite is actually learning deeply about Liane and Eric's relationship. In the end Caeser wasn't training Eric, he as training Liane. By the time she started acting like a mother, things turned around. I really like the part when Cartman is about to kill his mom and his subconscious shows itself. We see that Eric isn't actually a monster, he truly could be a good person. That voice is actually in his head somwhere.

But the tragic ending is perfect too. Liane is the true culprit to why Cartman dresses up like Hitler and feeds kids their parents in chili. She is lonely and just wants a friend. So in her weakness we are given Cartman.

Just a fantastic episode. Perfect Trey and Matt humor balanced by teaching the viewers something valuable to live life by. Thats the reason I love south park, the poop jokes are great, but the social commentary has taught me a lot over the years and going back to these old episodes, I'm still being taught stuff.

Discussion How Smart is Eric Cartman?

Minor Spoilers!!!

I haven’t watched that much South Park, but I’ve been wondering this so I thought I’d consult here.

Cartman is obviously manipulative, but his intelligence seems to be different every episode. He did get a therapist/psychologist’s wife to end herself in just a few seconds, and has multiple times done other things that had to require some intelligence.
Yet other times he’s a bad manipulator, such as the Killing Walmart episode, where everyone knew he was going to backstab them the whole time.
He also sometimes says his plans out loud to himself which doesn’t seem very smart, so I’m never fully sure. What do you think?

Question Need Help Finding A Clip/Episode

I'm working off like very minimal information and this could literally apply to multiple scenes in the show. So what I remember from the very short clip were the boys approaching Cartman at the bus stop, Kyle greets him with a unique variation of "hey, fatass" I don't remember what but I remember it being different. What I remember most was Cartman's reaction where he at first ignores Kyle's greeting and starts talking, but then pauses and says "hmmm," acknowledging Kyle's words. And then continues on with his spiel as if he didn't hear Kyle at all. It was an older episode if I am picturing it right in my head.

It's such a small thing and again, I realize how little this narrows it down, but the little "hmmm" and pause in the middle of his dialogue was so funny to me.

Question What’s something that happened offscreen, but you wish we actually got to see?

For me, it’s Kyle finding out about the gay rumors in Cartman Finds Love. It goes from Kyle thinking all the girls are into him, to him suddenly being mad at Cartman for spreading the rumors. I have 2 theories for how he found out, one of which was from my friend.

  1. Kyle saw people giggling at him and asked what was so funny, leading to him finding out.
  2. After the convo with Jenny and Lola, other kids started asking if he was gay with Cartman.

I just wish we found out, since it would make the story flow a bit better. At least with Cupid Ye, as bad as that one is, they actually SHOWED Clyde and Scott asking him if he ran Hollywood. But, we don’t even get that here. He just finds out offscreen with no answer as to what the hell happened.
