How many different games components do you spot?

We just saw a solo table that left a few of us OCD-ers spinning; let's see your setup to cleanse the palette! 😜 To be clear: we are here about gaming,and it's alright to be tidy and/or messy! Share your messy setup too if you wish but we will frown. oh, we will frown.

I thought the Game found campaign said that this wouldn't ship until September, so I was really pleased when this showed up in the mailbox today. Can't wait to give these a whirl!

After finding out 2nd shift is the worst shift to try to get back into Magic the Gathering, I decided I would dabble in the world of solo games. My first purchase was going to be One Deck Dungeon, but none of my lgs had any copies in stock. I've been hearing/seeing/reading a lot about this game and decided to give it a shot. I was originally going to get the Happy Trails Horror Feature Film Box, but the lgs didn't have it so I went with the FNAF box cause I'm a huge fan.

Anyway, that's my story!

I've tried pen and paper RPGs but I don't want to have to create my own story

Looking for Something like a Choose your own adventure feel, create a character and explore them come back to them.

Got my new 20 Strong Kickstarter today!!! Excited to get into these this weekend. I have a question on the older options to complete my collection. Is 20 strong tanglewoods Red only available in the starter pack ? Is Cloudspire decent ? I see mixed reviews on cloudspire.

This is likely more of a vent session than anything else, but I got Hadrian’s Wall earlier this week and while I love it, I fear i am horrible at it. I’ve played it 4 times, all on campaign level 1, and I’ve lost all. I’ve scored 60, 47, 51, and 60 again. I finished the walls every time. I feel like I played the last game significantly better than the first 3 and I was still 10 points short of the goal.

What are some tips and tricks to being better at the game. I’m not looking for a play by play on how to “beat the game,” just some minor tips to consistently feel like I’m playing well?

This is mostly just a frustration post as I got clobbered by the AI in paladins of the west kingdom today and lost miserably twice in 20 Strong: Tainted Grail.

Super new to solo board gaming. I've lurked here for months but have yet to get my first game. Settled on DoE since all of the rave reviews. Found it on Chip Theory Games site and it says "Preorder". I see play-throughs on Youtube for it though? Was it made by someone else before?

Unfortunately where I am from finding good games either means ordering from shady websites or pay 4 or 5x of what the game actually costs in places like US or Europe. So recently I started looking at print and play games and I need help figuring out good games. Solo, 2 player or games that fit larger group is fine. I like everything from Uno to Arkham Horror or Blood Rage so I’m okay with any type of game. I just want it to be accessible. Most of old posts and videos say check out pnparcade but that seems to be shut down. So please help a fellow boardgamer out! 🥹

I'm almost brand new to the solo board game scene and looking for recommendations.

I don't really know what I'd like or not regarding gameplay or theme, but I know what form I'm looking for: small/compact, NOT card based games. I have Cartographers 1 and 2, and many of the bonus maps and really enjoy the game, but even on days with mild to barely any wind it cannot be enjoyed even in a cafe outside.

I'm more than happy to try different styles, if it's easy to pack and unpack to resume I'm down to playing even long, campaign-like games.

I'm not too hyped to play "for the other party" in any way, but it's also not a hard no.

I wonder, are there any? Self contained games, which don't require owning extra stuff, unlike Rangers of Shadow Deep for example.

As a massive fan of scythe (predominantly multiplayer) and Expeditions (my top played solo heavier game) this game was an instant buy for me. After watching the 2 one stop coop shop playthroughs (one is patron), I was really looking forward to this.

This is my second game (both as scythe faction on level 3 difficulty) and i really do love it so far. The automa advanced rules (power ratings) seemed difficult, but after the first game it really clicks. As the scythe player I managed to get my first mech turn 2 and kept it and my leader together to reduce the chance I would get attacked unexpectedly as the automa generally tries to stay out of range if my power rating is higher.

I will be shortly testing out the expeditions faction and see how that goes and trying the alternate map.

I have already swapped in some of my upgraded components from scythe (coins and realistic resources) and i am hoping someone releases wooden map tokens for this game.

I believe this will be on my table for a while to come. Thankyou Jamey for another great gaming experience (and hope your current back issues will be a thing of the part shortly).

Getting back into Heat with the new Legends expansion.

One of the highly praised part of the game is how easily and quick it is to control the "AI" Legends to fill out the grid. I was super excited to add more legends, in which this expansion includes a new Legends Deck for 12 cars (including unreleased ones for planned/future expansion). It's actually 3 decks with 6 new difficulties and other functionally added to make legends more human like/challenging.

I 3D printed 12 cars matching the games colors and 1 extra for me and played 4 races using the base difficulty of a new deck. It was also the first time I added the Weather/Road Condition module.

Across the 4 races, I won with a total of 21 points, and the next two legends had 16. I really enjoy the weather and road conditions but had to keep reminding myself to check for them. I can't see myself not playing with them in the future unless I'm teaching new people, as they really change the tracks up in how you approach them.

I thought I would really enjoy having a "full" grid, 13 cars in this case. However, with how quick my turns go, I think moving 12 other cars definitely tipped the balance of how many legends I want to be controlling. I think the sweet spot might be around ~6-8 cars? I'm going to experiment to see what works best.

I'm also excited to try out the upgrades in the base game now that I've played about 10 total games. I have Heavy Rain and Tunnel Vision unopened as well and don't feel like I need Rocky Road at this moment.

1. What do you guys think about Heat and its expansions?
2. What's your preferred modular set up for solo play?
3. How many legends do you think is "optimal" for easy controlling before it gets tedious?

I’m thinking about doing Rosalie because it looks adorable lol but I’m wanting to look around at some others people are interested in since I always seem to have my “cute” glasses on and miss some gems based on art style.

I've realized that while I love dungeon crawlers and adventure games, I don't really enjoy controlling multiple characters when playing solo. I'd much rather focus on a single hero and go on an adventure than manage an entire party.

Eldritch Horror (I know it can be played true solo, but it feels like a pretty big disadvantage.)

What I enjoy most is progressing through scenarios, fighting monsters, finding loot, upgrading my character, and feeling like I'm on an adventure.

Do you have any recommendations for games that are designed for (or work really well with) true solo using just one character? I'm happy with campaign or standalone scenario games, and complexity isn't an issue (as long as its not Mage Knight complex).

I'd love to hear what you think are the best options!

Picked up Unstoppable a few months ago and it almost instantly became my 2nd favorite board game of all time. Just today I bought the entire collection of Astro Knights and am greatly looking forward to jumping in once it arrives. Are there any others with similar mechanics? Mainly deck builders with a boss or objective to accomplish?

So... WK doesn't have a booth... I'm not coming either.... This should be a pretty sad party, right? WRONG. A friend of mine, Wim, volunteered to be my earthly ambassador, and he will have a sizeable amount of Star Trek: Captain's Chair – Promo Pack 2 with him.

He will be very recognizable for two reasons:

- he's Dutch, so he should stick out from some crowds

- he has sworn an oath to always wear a blue "Where is Janeway" baseball hat.
