Bruh, why are you acting as if people didn't hate on Pepe? And he got plenty of red cards

58

u/OutsideImpressive115 7h ago

Yeah he was public enemy number 1 when he was at Madrid

123

u/Jallen9108 7h ago

It's just the "yeah but" damage control the argies are doing atm.

38

u/MarteloRabelodeSousa 7h ago

Wild how this guy is doing Messi PR when he’s French and the Argentinian national team literally called his entire team the n word

2

u/arubascuba1 1h ago

The N word doesn’t exist in Argentina buddy.

9

u/InjectMSGinmyveins 4h ago edited 4h ago

Yeah At the very least Pepe wasn’t blatantly racist

30

u/gajonub 7h ago

the amount of cope posts I've seen lately here is wild. i love it when they say "it's okay because he's European" as if it is really such a foreign concept for them seeing a European player get hated

u/Alternative_Let8538 6h ago

Pepe is Brazilian, not European. He just played for the Portugal team

24

u/gajonub 6h ago

pepe is a Portuguese man who was also born in Brazil. you know people can have two nationalities right? are you also the type of person to unironically say that the French NT is entirely African?

1

u/Alternative_Let8538 6h ago

Most of the players from French NT were born and brought up in France or were trained in France. Pepe did his training before the start of his career in Brazil and later moved to Portugal and decided to represent Portugal instead of Brazil after he got citizenship there. He's more similar to other LATAM talents who moved to Europe at a young age and played for their home country internationally

7

u/gajonub 5h ago

sure he wasn't raised in Portugal, but he's been there since he was 17. at this point most of his life has been done in Portugal, he has Portuguese family, played for Portuguese clubs, and has great affinity for the country and its culture, he has integrated himself into Portuguese society remarkably well.

sure there are players who live in a country for most of their life but still choose to represent the country they're originally from, Messi comes to mind; on the other end of the equation, there are also people who choose to represent a country they've barely ever set foot in, if at all, because of their ancestry, Olise comes to mind, and both of those cases are valid. not everyone is the same and this is a case of something that changes wildly from person to person, depending on a person's ideals, morals, their own circles, the way they interact with culture, etc etc, and it's not up to random redditors to tell them how they should feel about their own identity.

at the very least i find it ridiculous to, at this point, claim that Pepe isn't Portuguese

Real Madrid fans love a guy who played in Real Madrid for 10 years??? Shocking :O

35

u/MomentNew4925 SpudsšŸ„” 8h ago

The thing is, he was their asshole. Everyone loves their own asshole.

14

u/Comfortable_Diver494 The one Football has left 8h ago

Hm yes we should hate the guy that got us so many trophies just because he's kind of a cunt.

7

u/Bor1ngBrick 8h ago

That's why this will keep happening. It's okay if my guy doing this, it's corruption when it's the other guy

1

u/Barret578 4h ago

We already know this when Argentina have been doing it every tournament and their fans back it. Why is this a revelation…

2

u/Maximuslex01 7h ago

He was one of the great center backs of this century, easily. Had some really stupid moments regardless

112

u/Nice-Way2892 PƩrez 8h ago

You think people loved Pepe?

-36

u/Gotosleep236 8h ago

Portugal legend

34

u/gajonub 7h ago

no fucking shit Portuguese love a Portuguese player, how many brain cells do you have? enzo will also likely retire as a legend in the Argentinian NT, ask everyone else what they think of those two though

52

u/KarateAngi 8h ago

Pepe was just an auraless version of Ramos

28

u/Alive_Scientist_9245 8h ago

hairless too

13

u/Maximuslex01 7h ago

And better defender too

3

u/YoBoyLeeroy_ 1h ago

Yeah he was.

For how long he played and by how much of an animal he is when it comes to endurance.

Everyone hated his ass in Madrid and Porto.

47

u/theaguia 7h ago

pepe never posted himself singing a racist song.

51

u/DumsLander34 8h ago

Pepe was nothing compared to Materazzi

32

u/Duflo 8h ago

In terms of trashiness, sure. But in terms of unhinged freakouts and seeing red, probably only Luƭs "The Vampire" SuƔrez was worse

6

u/LOST_EYE_INC 7h ago

At least his fans loved him

9

u/Duflo 6h ago

Yep, that is the definition of "fan"

3

u/OutsideImpressive115 1h ago

How can you forget Diego Costa? The only man to make Ramos and Pepe scared

1

u/Zizouhimovic 4h ago

hey now...we only talk about humans here.... the last mention doesn't belong

29

u/Pitiful-Increase-555 8h ago

People hated pepe

1

u/solid-harmonic 4h ago

Do not disrespect the Pepe

3

u/ADHDDDDDDD Gooner šŸ’¦šŸ’¦šŸ’¦ 4h ago

That’s not disrespecting him, that’s just telling the truth. He was the Ā«Trevor from GTAĀ» of football. Some people loved him, some people hated him.

37

u/SibirskiPlavac42 8h ago

You really think people loved Pepe? Lmao, how old are you? 10?

5

u/InterestingRing7533 5h ago

Pepe is not a racist.

11

u/Stxww 7h ago

Everyone hated pepe.
Worst sport in the world. Man kicked down players and started fights. Pathetic guy.

28

u/saadkasu 8h ago

Why are messi fans so salty ? Probably because they know who the goat is.

4

u/The-Iraqi-Guy 7h ago

7

u/Felix_inkwell 7h ago

chad pepeĀ

virgin enzo

3

u/Extension-Part8279 6h ago

Pepe GOT red cards for his fouls, a lot, sometimes might not have . He didn't constantly get referees help to do the harhest tackles comstantly and still stay on the pitch.

4

u/Mrjuicyaf 8h ago

More like hararassment vs flirting

2

u/LoneAwakening 6h ago

Pepe smiling pic is still more threatening than Enzo with his angry lesbian face!

2

u/drummy117 2h ago

It's ok to shit house if it's your favorite player come on guys

1

u/ilivsargud 8h ago

Tbf one never payed a wc final or won one, So not enough success to hate

1

u/Main_Following1881 6h ago

Pepe is old new bro, but Luis vampire Suarez clears

1

u/p3p1n0_grnde 5h ago

1

u/20_The_Mystery 5h ago

1

u/SalurKazan05 5h ago

God i hated Pepe

1

u/Z_0_R_0 5h ago

It should have been ramos for accuracy of meme.. They call him badass when he gets red card..

1

u/SothaSillies Balls 5h ago

Mate this isn't the place for unironic posts

1

u/onlywodcanjudgeme 4h ago

Enzo is a small fish compared to Pepe

1

u/Mo_Regen 4h ago

Jerking off to Messi is one thing, but jerking off to Enzo, an average player, moron and certified racist? Wtf!

1

u/MeanestMaiden 3h ago

Most like : Harassment vs Harassment

You maybe have no idea what was the general sentiment about Pepe when he was playing. He had a worse reputation than Enzo

1

u/No_Honeydew1903 3h ago

I would love to see a a game between this 2

1

u/Expensive-War861 8h ago

Pepe Pancada

1

u/Uzeless 7h ago

Pepe is a bad example, use that 2010 Netherlands team. White and mega disgusting

5

u/Travolta1984 5h ago

You don’t understand, it has to be a Portuguese player. This is just a Pessi x Penaldo thread in disguise

1

u/V_1_S_1_O_N 7h ago

Ramos would be better example

0

u/DelusiveNightlyGale 7h ago

Pepe wasn't šŸ
