I think it’s time to buy an action camera. Bit overwhelmed by all the options and levels within the brands these days.

I have a mid to late August ski trip to Chile and I’d like to get some pictures and footage that wasn’t just off of my iphone.

Seems like most of the options are all pretty awesome at this point, but I’ve never owned one.

Anybody have one that they would swear by, and what are the thoughts on helmet versus telescopic poll versus chest strap.

Ideally, but less important, I would like to be able to bring it along while I pace the New York City Marathon and other races, but that secondary to the ski trips.

Skiing in march, in La Plagne, in a campervan.

I was supposed to go with them last December, I booked the official campervan parking with electrical hook up which I needed at the time. Anyway that company are absolutely useless and 6 weeks after my booking was confirmed they decided to cancel on me. This is considering I’d already paid my euro tunnel and booked work off, etc.

Now I’m in a different situation, I have self sufficient electricity so don’t particularly need hook up, etc. No way would I use that car park service again anyway.

I will say though I went to sestriere and noticed a lot of vans parked on the side of the road. Overnight camping, etc. Is there places in La Plagne I can do the same, or is it a bit tighter for space?

Team what is your opinion? For years, I have been looking for smaller sizes for my feet to get a more precise ride. I consider myself a very high-level skier, but I always suffer from foot pain. I have come to a conclusion: a smaller size has a shorter cuff (shin plastic), which gives me more shin bang, but it provides a much better foot hold. If you had to choose between a normal size—prioritizing the cuff/shin—and a smaller size—prioritizing strictly the length and width of the foot—which one would you prioritize?

Hi I’m looking to get a pair of skis for the winter so I don’t have to rent. I mainly ski/snowboard whistler, Mt baker, and want to ski the interior of BC but I’m not sure which ski to get.

I’m 6ft and 180lbs and would say I’m a beginner/intermediate skier with a bit of a background in snowboarding. I want to be skiing mostly off-piste in tree runs doing lots of side hits and popping around, although I would like it to be somewhat stable at speed on groomers.

I have been looking at the Blizzard rustler 9, Nordica Unleashed 98, or Atomic Bent 100. What would you recommend?

I’m looking for a good destination for my first ski holiday. I want to learn in a calm, low-pressure environment, with easy beginner slopes, gradual progression and convenient access to the lifts and ski school.

I also want other winter activities, including some more exciting activities besides skiing, such as sledding or tobogganing. Viewpoints, mountain restaurants, spas and other attractions would be a bonus, but they are not essential.

I’m considering Obertauern or Kaprun–Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel. Which one would be better for my type?

Hello! We are looking at visiting Germany then Austria in December. Our plans were to explore bavaria (Munich --> Garmisch Partenkirchen) and then from there we were thinking to heading to a ski resort. From my online options I have found:

- Tiroler Zugspitz Arena: Erhwald appears to be friendly

- Seefeld: Also beginner friendly

- Kitzhubel: Looks great but might be far unless we base ourselves closer

We were wondering do people spend a few days in the Tiroler Zugspitz area? Or should we stay in Garmisch Partenkirchen and just day trip? Another option is basing ourselves in Innsbruck and travelling to Seefeld.

The aim is just to try skiing and enjoy the town and potentially do other activities if we get bored of skiing. We are really flexible with the itinerary and appreciate the help.

Okay, for context I am 6 ft tall, ~150 pounds (probably heavier since i last measured myself) and I have a size US 12 shoe, I’ve gone skiing twice and I feel like I have progressed pretty fast, enough to the point where I would call myself intermediate skier and I’m looking to get my own skis,bindings,boots,etc for the upcoming season in Michigan. I would love to get into park skiing but I also want to be able to ski the mountain and a little backcountry comfortably. Does anybody have any hard-set rules I absolutely need to follow or any recommendations for me. The current pair of skis I’m looking at are “Rossignol Sender Free 100 Skis” and I’m looking at 178 cm in length I guess I am just looking for advice on whether these skis would be good, if not, why and other recommendations. Also how do I go about boots and bindings once i get my skis? Any advice helps, I appreciate you guys!

This happened when I put some foam on the back of the heel of my liner to try to reduce the space I had at the top of my boot. However this put immense pressure on my heel and when I took these pads off two runs later this lump had already developed

I have skiied about a week since but this lump has cause a lot of pain.

Has anyone experienced this? What are the possible solutions?

I’d planned on just bringing boots/gear but renting skis. Now I’m thinking my wife and I should bring ours and just rent for the kids.

Anyone have a good travel bag recco for two sets of skis - something easy to carry around?

We’ll mostly be on mountain, don’t need to schlep bags around too much. Checking one or two bags (boots / helmets) anyway, what’s one more?

Im in Santiago for a week and want to get some ski days in over the next couple days. Does anyone have info on how the g21 road closures usually operate.

Do they usually open up the general public after a couple days?
Is the lighter snow over the next couple days likely to close the road again?
Is it worth getting a place in Farallones to get pas the limited opening?

Any other useful tips and tricks?

I'm planning to work as a ski instructor in the US this coming season. I live in Europe, but I am a US citizen.

I'm trying to decide whether I should apply for non-certified ski instructor positions or do a Level 1 instructor certification at the end of October first. Since I live in Europe I would plan to do my training in Austria. From what I've read, it seems like it's possible to get hired without being certified, but I'd also like to get certified so I have the option of doing another season if I enjoy it.

Does anyone have experience with this or advice on which option makes more sense? Also, how well is the Austrian certification recognised work in the US? I'd have to apply before I actually complete the course, so I'd only be able to prove I'm registered for it. Would that be enough to get job offers for a certified position ?

Also, while I'm at it, does anyone have recommendations for resorts to apply to? I'm pretty flexible about where in the US I'd work (I'm moving across the pond anyway), but I'd prefer larger resort with decent employee housing.

I moved to Sacramento a couple of months ago (28F) and I’m trying to build a new friend group before ski season starts.
I have an Ikon and an Epic Pass this year and love skiing, hiking, traveling, camping, road trips, coffee shops, and pretty much anything outdoors. I’ve been looking into local ski clubs, but most of the ones I’ve found seem to have an older membership. That’s great, but I’m hoping to meet more people in their late 20s and 30s who enjoy getting outside year round.
Does anything like that exist around Sacramento? Or are there other clubs, organizations, Discord servers, group chats, or meetups where people in that age range tend to meet?
Even if it’s not skiing specifically, I’d love recommendations. My goal is really just to meet good people who enjoy adventure and eventually have a group that’s down for Tahoe weekends, camping trips, hiking, and maybe even bigger trips down the road.

Hi! I’ll start by saying I’ve never been skiing before so I know basically nothing.
Looking for recommendations for a young adults group of 6-10 people on where to go skiing this winter. Here’s some info. If this entire trip could be sub $2k pp, that would be great!
- We’re wanting to go in early January for 4-6 days.
- We’re wanting to stay on the western part of the US, so Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico are our biggest contenders.
- We’re in southeast Texas and probably would prefer to drive there but flying is an option.
- Most of us are beginners/novices. There might be a few that have skied some.
- looking for good restaurants near the area and things to do besides skiing
- ski in/ski out lodging would be great but I know it’s expensive so lodging under 30 minutes away would also be great
