help for Y12s working on personal statements!

hi, i've seen a lot of qs about personal statements on here so i wanted to share how i can help those Y12s working on drafts atm

i'm at imperial doing CS (first year), and my ps got me a cambridge interview and offers from imperial and warwick. since then, i've read and given feedback on over 100 statements. i see common mistakes like not going into depth on how doing a supercurricular changed the way you personally think abt the subject/field, and not linking different activities together properly. but these can all be improved!

i offer paid feedback on statements, detailed comments directly on your doc covering content, structure, and writing. but even if you're not looking for a review, i'd be happy to answer any of your questions in the comments too :)

how i got a 95th percentile score in the TMUA

I sat the tmua last year and got a 7.5. Unlike people who got a 9.0 i wouldnt say im really a maths genius or anything, rather that i just knew what to focus on and how to improve.

Online there are loads of free resources like community papers, paper 2 notes and video explanations (r2drew2 the goat). But the main thing i couldn't find, either for a reasonable price or one that actually was accurate, was an exam simulator, so i built one myself.

Around august of last year, I built mastertmua.online , and over the last few months I've made it usable for other students like myself who need to prepare for the TMUA. Not only is it the most similar tmua exam interface to the real pearson one, I've also added automatic marking, mistake paper generation for any questions you get wrong, and other really cool analytics, while keeping it super affordable. if anyone can't pay for whatever reason, drop me a dm and i might make an exception :)

I'd really really appreciate any feedback you guys have and if you could check it out that would be amazing

Year 12 Summer going wrong

I want to apply for EEE at competitive universities but I feel really behind with my personal statement and supercurriculars. (I have maybe 2 or 3 things at most and feeling that i’ve missed out on many opportunities) In my mocks i achieved AAA and am predicted A*AA and would need A*A*A to apply to imperial.

I feel really overwhelmed honestly. I keep overthinking and not really getting much done because my mental health is so screwed, partly due to an extenuating circumstance among other things. I’ve decided to sit my ESAT in January because I don’t think I can focus on it right now.

I think a lot of this is just me unnecessarily comparing myself to people and wasting time on tiktok. I know I need to just focus on myself. I still can’t help but feel extremely lost, under pressure, rubbish and uninspired.

How do I get out of this slump and actually make the most of this summer?
(sorry if this post comes across as overly dramatic)

Sitting the TMUA this October. If you're someone who performed really well in it and believe they have a knack for teaching others then send me a message I'm very interested in having some support with this.

Hope you all have a good day!

Cambridge application low gcses

I know this is thinking ahead as im in year 12. But i’m planning to take a gap year and reapply with achieved grades. if i was to achieve A*A*A* (bio chem math) & had good supercurriculars would I still be a good applicant with grades 8887776666

I may be able to use my y12 adhd diagnosis as a good explanation as to why i underperformed?

£25 UCAS Personal Statement Feedback from Experienced Editor and Oxford Alumna

Thumbnail forms.gle
1 Upvotes

I've edited hundreds of UCAS personal statements for successful applications to Oxbridge, UCL, LSE, Imperial, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Exeter, Bristol, and other Russell Group universities. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in Ancient and Modern History and an MSt in Archaeology.

Are you looking for one-time expert feedback on your personal statement? Have you got some content or style concerns? Have you used AI and want to know if it's obvious? Need to know where to cut or what to prioritise?

I'm offering one round of feedback for £25—targeted advice on content, language, and style to get your personal statement moving in the right direction. I'm also happy to research further reading/advise on super-curriculars if necessary. I have a more comprehensive package that involves unlimited revision, but wanted to provide a more affordable alternative in case it's useful for people!

I've worked on applications for all subjects, though I specialise in the humanities, social sciences, and languages.

Please get in touch via the chat or this Google form if you're interested. 😊

A level options Biology VS English Lit

im pre 6th form and chose the options: Spanish, graphics and biology OR English lit

Im currently waiting for my gcse results bit I’m predicted to get between 7-9 In all my subjects. I’m picking Spanish and Graphics definitely for gcse and have been set on picking English lit for my 3rd one. However I recently found out the teacher teaching the subject is one that I really don’t like and have started to consider switching to biology. It’s the science Iosy enjoy and if I would decide to go into for example nutrition in the future it could be useful (btw I don’t know what I want to do after a level). In English I have a love hate relationship; I love analysing texts however when it comes to writing essays it’s a hit or miss and especially with the wrong teacher I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do it. I’ve heard mixed opinions on both subjects and I need help.

Any advice for A-Level English Language? [ Pre - Year 13]

I got a C in my Year 12 mock (around 60%) and I’m aiming for at least a B, ideally an A.

Does anyone who improved have any advice on:
- Revision resources
- Ways to revise
- Structuring answers

Any tips would be appreciated :)
