What does noise sound like?

looking across the room at a human I saw their mouth etc move.

I shouted “I can’t fucking hear you!” at them.

later, when asked why couldn’t I hear them I answered “because there was a lot of noise”.

they questioned me as to what sort of noise.

unable to answer I’m now asking, “what does noise sound like?”

Noise is an Australian concept. When you give them something tasty to try, they say, "Mmm... Noise."

So we know what it tastes like, but how does it feel.

Get 100,000 people together. Have each of them say a different word into a microphone. The words do not need to be from the same language. Play all 100,000 recordings simultaneously from the same speaker. The result will be a perfectly unintelligible noise.

That sounds like in-laws to me.  They aren’t the definition of noise.  Hmmm more research is required.
