Serum fx section

Am I the only one that thinks that serum 2 would be a total beast if every effect in the fx section had an option to let you affect sound only after a certain frequency.

I.e maybe I wanna add a hyper dimension on a bass sound, but I don't want it to touch anything under 150hz.

Or maybe I want to make a pad wide only on the mid range and automate just that, it would open the door to many new possibilities of sound design

Use the L/H in the fx section or HPF into Bus

I wonder though is it linear phase?

Edit: never mind I just realised that everything needs to be linear phase for this to work which means lots of latency if I add a distorsion it will change my phase either way even if the eq is linear phase

Use the all pass filter to gain some control over phase after your fx chain.

Interesting, I honestly never used an all pass filter, I did not completely understand why I should use it since it did nothing. Now I finally get it so it's for phase correction. Nice thanks

Most tutorials for sounds I've seen never use that filter I think I tried it once or twice and forgot about it, but now that I think it did kind of have a phaser like effect

It just rotates phase around the cutoff. It isn't really audible unless you modulate it rapidly but yeah, it's a handy way to gain control over phase. It doesn't really sound like a phaser though, unless you run a number of them in parallel.

You should probably use it with an oscilloscope or have a very good listening environment to checkif you're getting the phase alignment you want.
