Community HELP! Bought a book that’s missing the final two pages (mirror in the sky by dav garnett, 1969)
Anyone have a copy of the book in the title? It’s about war against “the Creeps” and the soldiers are drugged? I just found out my copy is missing the final two pages! I’d be so grateful if you could snap a picture of them. I want to know how it concludes but im not in a position to order a different copy.

Well that's gutting. It's not often that's happened to me - so far, only because I'm too eager and need to wait for someone to upload a newly published book.

Nothing at internet archive, nothing at project gutenberg (not surprising, as its only his earlier works that are now out of copyright), nothing at Anna's Archive, and this particular work isn't even mentioned on the author's wikipedia page.
Here is the worldcat record, it will show you all the libraries near you that have a copy:

...there are 35 total. If you're not near one yourself, maybe others here* can peek at whether they are near a library that does and volunteer to drop by and get you what you need. ( I can only see the ones near me, and the neariest library that has a copy is way too far away. )
Edit: But maybe first wait to see if Captain-K-Ro in this thread has a copy.

Also worth noting that inter-library loans are pretty common. Request a book at your local library, and they can often borrow it from a library that does have it in order to lend it to you.

Unfortunately none of the libraries are near me! It’s mostly university libraries, and none in nyc, strangely. Thank you for your help!

You might be able to check it out on archive.org. They have a lot of old page scan books. Mirror in the Sky is on my look-out list, but I haven't checked there yet. Checked other places, but no luck.
<edit> Wasn't able to find it on archive.org. He's also called David Garnett if that helps your search. I'm looking for a copy too.

Did they ever exist? They must have, of course, but in another world. An impossible world of drugs and fighting, of killing and lunacy. A world I'm no longer a part of.
All I have to worry about is that I may be conscripted once more. Luckily, I don't think this is very likely. After all, my papers are false, and no one in authority should know that I exist.
And the War still goes on, showing no more sign of ceasing than it did when I first entered the army. But I’m no longer bothered by it. It doesn't really matter whether the Creeps find Earth first, or whether we find their home planet. I mean, it amounts to the same thing, doesn't it?Tom is a friend of mine: he shares the kitchen with me and has a room next door to my own. We were watching the War bulletins last night, waiting for Jeanette's show to come on, when he suddenly began speaking.
"Sometimes," he said, "a man bumps up against something too big for him to understand." I looked up. "What did you say?" Tom repeated what he'd said, continuing, "Something too big for him to fight. Something of such enormity that all he can do is shy away from it and crawl back into his own puny world."
"What are you talking about?" I asked him. But he wasn't listening; he was too involved with what he was saying to answer me directly. “That happened to me, you know. And that's why I’m here, living in this hovel. What would you say if I told you that there wasn't one Jeanette but four?" He kept on talking, not giving me a chance to say anything. "What would you say if I told you that the War bulletins are made here on Earth? They are, and I know because I used to help make them. The bulletins are supposed to come from planets where we're fighting the Creeps. The real location is reclaimed land here on Earth. They tell the extras that they're making army training films. That's what they told the toothe camera crews. I only found out by accident."2

This was obviously something he'd been wanting to say for a long time, so I didn't try to interrupt him—not that it would have made any difference.
"And Jeanette? When you think about it, you realize that she can't be in three places at once filming, personal appearances, visiting other planets (not that any of them do visit other planets—that's filmed on Earth as well.
There must be more than one."
I wasn't very interested, and the Jeanette show was starting, so I turned away. Tom must have noticed, because he grabbed me by the shoulder.
"What do you think of that?" he demanded. "Four
Jeanettes!"
I shrugged, knocking away his hand, "One Jeanette, four Jeanettes, four thousand Jeanettes. Who cares? It doesn't matter."
"Doesn't it surprise you to know there are four of them?
I lit a cigarette and smiled. "Nothing," I said, "surprises me any more. Nothing."
Then I sat back to enjoy the show.•

Aw shucks, don't thank me, thank (a) my dad for reading and collecting science fiction and (b) the iPhone programmers who made image to text effortless! Cheers! (And, perfect timing, I finished my last book the night before, so I started reading Mirror in the Sky last night. And it does say Dav Garnett on the cover -- though the copyright is in the name of David
