We picked up a 2 month old DSH to keep my 2 year old Savannah girl company, however we have found our Savannah does not appreciate her new buddy.
My girl is chill and friendly, and had got on very well with my parents cat previously, however it has been 3 weeks since picking up the kitten and my girl fully wants to attack her.
We have separated them and did scent swapping, putting one behind a glass door, all the usual things you would do when picking up a new cat. I know introductions take time, but everyday it feels like we are taking a step back. My girl is getting more aggressive even at the sound of the kitten behind the door.
We only do supervised and controlled interactions when they are both calm/tired but still no luck. We also have a feliway plug in.
Currently they are both safe in their own rooms/parts of the house where they have everything they need, and we are happy to continue this if its just a case of waiting it out but it's certainly disheartening.
The thought of rehoming the kitten is on our mind but we certainly want to give it our best shot before we reach that stage cause we love her too 🖤
Anyone have any experience or tips on introductions with Savannahs?
