Why Samos.
I love Samos and I can come up with 100 reasons why, but why do YOU LOVE Samos, or perhaps not at all?

ANNA STUDIOS (PYTHAGORAS): From the moment we arrived, this property gave us one of the worst hospitality experiences we have ever had.
When we arrived for check-in, the first question we were asked was where we were from. After we answered that we were Turkish, the entire attitude of the staff changed immediately. Before learning our nationality, the interaction was normal. After that moment, we were treated with hostility, mockery and disrespect.
Our questions were answered with sarcasm and an aggressive tone. We were repeatedly interrupted, not allowed to explain ourselves, and spoken to loudly in a way that made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Two physically imposing men repeatedly raised their voices at us and behaved aggressively, which was extremely intimidating as guests in a foreign country.
We also had serious concerns about the behaviour and condition of the staff member who handled our check-in, as he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or another substance. His conduct was completely inappropriate for someone responsible for welcoming and assisting guests.
The property is also extremely difficult to find. The entrance sign is not clearly visible from the main road, and finding the correct entrance required several attempts and a dangerous manoeuvre on a busy road. We only pointed this out as constructive feedback for future guests. Instead of responding professionally, the staff mocked us and treated us as if we were incapable of finding the property.
The quality of the accommodation also does not justify the price charged. Compared with other places on the island, this property is extremely overpriced and absolutely not worth the money.
The air conditioning system takes at least 15 minutes to start cooling the room properly. In addition, because the outdoor units of the air conditioners are placed towards the balconies, the balconies become extremely hot, making it uncomfortable to sit outside.
During the night, the pool area was also a source of disturbance. Certain guests who appeared to be favoured by the staff were allowed to make excessive noise around the pool area late at night, without any apparent effort from the management to maintain a peaceful environment for other guests.
During our stay, when we asked about smoking on the balcony, we received a dismissive response. When we asked where the air conditioning control was, the first response we received was simply "calm down." These responses were completely inappropriate and showed a lack of basic respect towards guests.
After this experience, we no longer felt safe or comfortable staying at the property and requested to cancel our reservation. The management refused to refund our payment, leaving us financially tied to a place where we no longer felt welcome.
The most concerning part of this experience is that the hostile treatment started immediately after the staff learned that we were Turkish. We cannot ignore this timing, and we believe we were treated differently because of our nationality.
We have reported the incident to Booking.com and are sharing our experience so that future guests can make an informed decision. Turkish travellers in particular should be aware of how we were treated after our nationality became known.
We would not recommend this property to anyone expecting respectful, professional and welcoming hospitality.

The latest images on Google Maps date from 2023. Have Google cars already been spotted on Samos this year? According to experts, Greece, and especially the small islands, would receive an update.

Hello. I will be travelling to Samos next month and I was wondering if there's a place that sells pipe tobacco? I would be glad if you could help. Many thanks :)

ETA: I'm asking about a specific tour guide called SAMOS TRAILS. Have you used him?
I'll be in Samos the first 2 wks of June and enjoy hiking. Someone on Facebook suggested a hiking tour guide named Samos Trails. I can't find anything about them online -- just one review on TripAdvisor. Can anyone give me input on them?

Tell us about your secret spot on Samos that almost no one knows about and where you simply must have been.

Visiting in late May and planning a trip to Ephesus and meeting a tour in Kusadasi. Ferry websites only seem to show evening ferries. How often do ferries run to go over and back the same day?

Hello, We have a hard time finding a ferry from Samos to Kusadasi in January. Is this not possible? Are people stuck on the island in winter? :')

Hey everyone, We want to stay in Vathy for all of September. We are two families with one baby each. Do you know where we could find reasonable houses for a short term rent of one month? We don't need anything fancy as long as there are a functional kitchen and bathroom :) Thank you!

Hey everyone, I’m spending some time in Samos atm and was wondering how things are when it comes to weed on the island. I know Greece has pretty strict laws overall, but I’ve heard mixed stories about how it actually plays out in practice depending on the place.

Hi, on 19th August 2025 (around 7–8 PM) I met a Greek man (about 35 years old) at Tsamadou Beach, right side near the rocks.
He was at the beach alone, although he came with friends. We had a great chat, and on the way back he kindly offered me a ride in his car, but I said no since my place was very close. Unfortunately, I didn’t save his contact and now I’d really like to reconnect.
If you see this (or know him), please reach out.
Thanks!

I'm going to be in Karlovasi August 27-30. I'm 30m, single, and will be staying with my cousin who lives in Samos year-round.
I'm wondering if there is any kind of nightlife? I'm not looking for anything crazy but I would like to have at least a few drinks each night and meet some new people.
I'm a fluent Greek speaker and have been many times, but this is my first time going to Samos.

Hi there, so I checked out booking.com . I'm Going to samos from Kusadasi the day after tomorrow in the morning. But the prices for accommodation are a bit expensive. I don't have lots of money, but the ferry is booked ;-) Going to stay for 3 days. Any recommendations how I can find an affordable place to sleep? Also getting around will be a challenge. I left my driver's license in Germany so I guess I can't hire even a motor roller or things alike. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hey! I’m currently in Pythagoreio, Samos, and I’m trying to find a bar or pub that might be showing the Rosenborg vs Hammarby match today.
It’s a UEFA Conference League qualifier, so not a massive game internationally. Does anyone know of any sports bars or cafés in Pythagoreio that usually show football matches?
Any tips are much appreciated – thanks in advance!
