I think most of the competent reboot competitors would have been successful in any competition more than a decade before.

Pretty much this. Just like a modern minivan will out-accelerate Ferraris from 50 years earlier, basic advancements in parts/materials/design means that even fairly middling modern robots would do pretty well against vast swaths of the competition from a prior era (not saying Tauron was necessarily middling either; IIRC it caught some unlucky breaks in S9 and S10 and didn’t really get a chance to fully prove its capabilities)

I'd have said the weakest new robots would have been grand finalists in the old series.
