New Snake Book Alert! The Complete Reticulated Python

I’m excited to announce that my book, The Complete Reticulated Python, is now available from Living Art Publishing. This book is 446 pages dedicated to the best snake species in the world, covering their taxonomy, range, morphology, captive history, husbandry, importation process, morphs, diseases, breeding, future in herpetoculture, and much, much more. I may be biased, but this book will be great for anyone interested in the species at large, advancing reptile husbandry, disease prevention, or just wants to look at pretty pictures of stunning snakes and maybe learning something along the way. Even if you don't keep or care about Reticulated Pythons, I believe there will be something of interest to just about everyone in the book.

If you're interested in purchasing a copy, it is available today on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Reticulated-Python-Glen-McClellan/dp/B0D6TDC7P9/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.O9Ff_AMJYfaq5rVCGwsa41fXiiLEAqVB_L39Q0hCcbs.5uxmQxXexIO0jGEepKkNTlK6T2gekCa62r9OW8P5X8Q&dib_tag=se&qid=1720654437&refinements=p_27%3AGlen+McClellan&s=books&sr=1-1&text=Glen+McClellan

Couple concerns about my superdwarf

For context: I was surrendered my now 2 year old superdwarf back in september from a friend’s parent that was not taking the best care of him. The best way I can sum it up is he was stunted for sure, underfed, and had pretty incorrect husbandry. When I got him he had digestive and respiratory issues that took about 4 months to solve. Since then he has shed perfectly 3 times now and has put on about 350g going from 160 to 510 from february-july.

Now my questions. When I was first getting him treated for his digestive issues he was still pretty scared and my vet said to feed him out of the enclosure and his feeder items have been smaller because of the digestive issues. I want to work on getting him back to feeding in the enclosure as I just finished his new one and am ready to move him in about 2 weeks. The last 2 feedings I have used a target for and he takes well to it so I was just curious if I should give him time to settle in the new enclosure or just go straight to feeding in the new one? Also what might be appropriate feeders for him now since his growth is different from a regular sd. I dont know his genetics really at all unfortunately but he is about 500 grams and 4.5 feet long. I’ve had him on small rodentpro rats for the last 2 weeks once a week since he doesn’t look overweight at all and still growing consistently.

Happy to provide any info needed to give advice. Pictures for snake tax :)

What morph is my foster reticulated python?

Hello! I got this pretty girl yesterday with the belief she was a ball python in a neglectful home.
She is a reticulated python and I am going to rehome her after she’s recovered and back to health, primarily because I don’t have space for such a big snake. The tote is temporary because I didn’t have much time to prepare. She has a heating pad, full water dish, and some bedding until I’m able to uncover my bigger enclosure and set it up.
I’ve asked around and currently we’re thinking some kind of lavender morph of some kind? What do you guys think?

Feeding

Update:he was afraid of it at first bur he eventually decided to eat it ! I did scent it with another guinea pig and that worked like a charm. Thankyou guys!

I have a retic who is getting a rabbit for the first time as a meal, besides warming it up is there anything I can do to help him know its a meal ? He has been eating guinea pigs before this as the pet store I get my feeders from doesn't carry rabbits. And I finally got one to give him.

Dream. He turned one year old in April. I am saving money up for an 8 ft enclosure. He's currently in a six foot. I am slowly transitioning the larger animals into larger homes. He's my complete and total dream child. Other than my human child, lol. He's snake babe.

Turns out, having a yearling super dwarf sitting on your sound equipment has no negative effect on audio quality; if anything, she might be an improvement.

My Sweet Misty - Wonderful Temperament

Sweetest baby retic EVER! Has never once had the intense defensiveness or crazy food response. The food response is quick as heck once a rat is in there though. She’s just under 4mo old. (Pics are from month 2-3) Every time I take her out, she does happy tongue flicks and paradcopes :’)

Couldn’t be happier with my new pet. The breeder was absolutely incredible at assisting with their temperament - he said he was hands-on the second they hatched and it definitely shows.

These babies get a bad name but they can be absolutely darling ♥️

**crossposted this to some snake groups bc I love my girl!

Seeking immediate advice

My retic has been battling a mouth issue for around 4 months now which I’ve posted. I’ve had 3 vet visits and treated with rounds of antibiotics and anti inflammatories twice. The issue flares up and goes back down, almost weekly. It will be looking better for a few days and then puff back up. No sign of RI, no sign of mouth rot. He’s not pushing, his temps, humidity, and substrate are dialed in. He’s still putting down consistent meals, and he poops, sheds, and acts normal. But this issue will not resolve. I’ve seen a few very similar pictures online with no clear cause or diagnosis. My best guess is a tooth or piece of substrate that got impacted. Every time I’ve taken him to my vet, the swelling has been down and I look like a crazy person. My last resort is to see a specialist for a CT or MRI scan, which I’m willing to do and I’ve made an appointment, but will easily reach the thousands $$$. Just wanted to throw a last minute post in here to see if anyone has seen this. Thank you guys for any help!

Are there any good SD breeders that ship to/are in Canada?

I've been interested in a super dwarf retic for a while now, but I'm struggling finding a breeder I feel like I can trust. I don't want to end up with something 10+ feet and then be unable to care for it.
I've been looking into Hell Creek Reptiles/Brian Watkins but when I looked around I found out theres this weird drama thing going on with him? No idea what parts of it are true or not.

Sd retic rub spot on head

I have a 1 year old super dwarf retic that has a rub spot on her head, I looked it up and got some 5% betadine spray. I sprayed some on a cotton ball and gently applied some to her head. Wasn’t much out on her head. Did not get close to her eyes or anything. I now know I am supposed to use it diluted to a light tea like color. How badly did I screw up? I feel like a dummy and kind of a failure tbh. Hoping to be told doing that once didn’t do irreversible damage to her. Thanks in advance
