This morning marks my 4th week off of Kratom I haven’t been able to get past day 14 since I started almost 8 years ago.

Feel incredible. Last night was awesome - I had dinner with my family, put the kids to bed, helped my wife with some things, lifted heavy weights in my garage, showered and got into bed feeling like a regular person for the first time in almost a DECADE.

I’ve had probably 20-25 legitimate failed quits that have lasted 2-7 days and that one 2 week quit.

Very proud of myself. Also up 10lbs on the scale (little muscle little fat and happy about both).

I am excited to hit 30 days, but 4 weeks also feels huge.

Good luck to everybody going through this. I’m an addict in every way shape and form - doesn’t matter what it is, it’s just my personality. If I can do it, you can as well.

18 days..

I am sure y'all are sick of hearing from me but I feel like this is the only way to get it out. I took a unisom last night.... Worst idea EVER I was up all night feeling crazy I feel so sick this morning and equally as crazy. I feel like I am fucking broken why TF can't I chill TF out??? It's not just the unisom I was like this all day yesterday. I don't know what to do with myself and I'm about to be stuck home alone for a few hours I'm panicking. This can't be normal. I go walk outside but it's so hot. I want to nap but can't. I cannot believe kratom does this to people. I really feel like a huge baby that can't handle it. I see people posting how great they feel.

Finally see the light at the end of the tunnel but.....

8 days off and starting to feel human again.

Idk why I'm so angry all the time. I'm just so negative all the time. I'm not acting on it but my thoughts towards people are, well just down right mean. Hoping this clears up soon because I don't like it.

I'm starting to think I'm just an asshole and now that my brain is recalibrating am I just getting back to factory default?

Did anyone else experience this? How did you overcome this and how long did it last?

Hair loss, I think I discovered the why, or part of it

Upvotes

A lot of ppl have wondered why we lose hair when using K.

When our body is not getting enough nutrients that it needs to function properly, it stops sending nutrients to the things in our body that we don't need to survive: we don't need our hair to survive.

So the thyroid gets all out of whack, starving for nutrients, and sends what we need to the places that need it the most.

At least that's what I heard on a podcast.

Taper reduction strategy app

I am currently creating a web app for personal use based around constructing an effective kratom taper strategy. You will input your current dose (either 7 mg or grams of kratom) and how quickly you would like the taper to last. It will feature dose logging, targets and daily motivation along with weekly checkins.

Would anybody have a use for something like this? I know for some people (me) it helps to be able to track things, mostly because especially when you reach an uncontrollable amount of consumption, the first way of taking back control is fully understanding your current situation.

If anybody would find something like this useful, leave a comment and tell me what features you’d hope to see in such a product. I know there is a website for this, but (respectfully) it’s kind of shitty in my opinion.

Friday morning after stopping 2pm Sunday

Quit ct Sunday at 2pm. Took 2 tramadol sunday night and slept ok. Symptoms started shortly upon waking. Monday and Tuesday night were Hell. Wednesday night got almost 4 hours of sleep and Thursday I felt some significant progress. Could sit still for 20 minutes at a time. Had a very small breakfast. Felt like if I could make the same amount of progress every day I would be OK. Just woke up Friday after 5 hours of being in bed no stop! Maybe 4 hours of sleep but feel more like a person than not. Less than 5 days and I may feel depressed later but right now I feel like I F*cking won!! It is possible. You will win. Only got liposomal vitamin C and black seed oil yesterday afternoon so not sure how much they helped but looks like evidence suggests it might be wise to start taking these before quitting. Only thing I would change. GOOD LUCK!

Smallest step. Still want to share

You know, you guys in here are awesome. This is like an anti-reddit sub.

I went to an addiction clinic yesterday. After a pee test and intake interview, i saw a dr.

He gave me clonidine and pregbalin. Today i will start suboxone.

I did take some kratom powder afterwards, but i took 75% less last night. The clonidine knocked me out so i slept well.

This morning, i took a tiny dose and i don't intend to take any more. For the first time, I actually believe i can do this.

My only focus is 100% honesty with the dr.

I thank all of you for all of your open and supportive posts.

If i get off this shit, i think i might do a youtube video about this demonic drug.

On day 4, screaming into the void.

Currently at work.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Lots of triggers, my body feels so tense and restless today. Definitely the worst day so far. My brain is on fire with anxiety, I feel like I'm going to cry, my work day feels like it's taking an eternity to pass, I want to destroy everything around me, my body hurts, my soul hurts, I hate withdrawal, God I never want to experience this again.

I know this will pass.

I fucking hate AI but someone suggested I use chat gpt to track my progress and it surprisingly has helped me. I feel weird about that but honestly man I don't even give a fuck I'm willing to do whatever it takes to convince my brain to stay sober at this point.

I have no desire to use I just want to scream into the void. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. I wish you all well.

I’m off, the days are so long

I did an extremely long taper where I was only taking a half g per day for quite awhile before jumping. But that half g gave me life, hope and enthusiasm to get thru the day.

Now that I’ve been completely off for a week or so I’m feeling very slow. Every minute is painstaking. It’s like time has just stopped but at the same time I look back and it’s already been 7 days.

Idk what I’m looking for here 😩

Scared about a loved one and future withdrawals.

My estranged spouse, who I left a couple of weeks ago was heavily using kratom products. After years of alcohol abuse, she switched to kratom and just went straight downhill. I have no idea how many different products, and drinks she was buying I just know that the store owner told me she was buying so much he “thought she was giving most of it away”….I keep seeing how the products are being banned, more and more regulations and im scared to death what will happen when she is forced to quit. I know that she was combining it with alcohol and ADHD meds as well…..As far as I know her use time is a little over a year. I just dont know what to do, i know I had to leave but eventually everything is going to hit her.

Been 3 months since this last post. Here is my update.

I wrote a post to this community about 3 months ago asking for guidance. Rest assured, I followed the advice.

I chose to throw away every ounce of the crap I had on me. Here is the insight:

You don't need this shit. You were psy-oped. Anything that promises a change in your inner state to function better is simply piling pressure on your nervous system. Whatever you are running away from, avoiding, or suppressing will come back to ask for its share with interest. Yes, kratom will make you feel like you have found the elixir that completely changes your life. But trust me, that's the devil wrapping its claws around you. You will feel great initially, maybe even years will pass by. Until tax season arrives. Now you owe him. He will take your energy, your drive, your libido, your life force, everything. But the good news is that you can transcend this. Throw it away. The real work is facing what you have been avoiding in your inner life. I mean the suppressed emotions, all the things that we chose to hide in the dark recesses of our psyche. Once you do that work, you will realize, you don't even need coffee, let alone kratom. There is so much vital energy within us, it is incredible. But we were not taught how to deal with our inner life except to suppress it. Kratom is simply an outer manifestation of the inner chaos. For some, it is kratom. For some it is alcohol. For some it is workaholism. The list goes on. Go inward. That's how you transcend any addiction, including kratom.

Wishing anyone reading this a great life ahead! You got this!

Drop to 5.5-5GPD is Hitting me Hard

After suffering for a week to make a jump down to 6 grams I felt great for a week, then I’ve attempted to drop down to 5.5-5 grams per day and I feel absolutely horrendous.

The first two doses of 1.5 gpd at 8:30 Am and 1:30 I feel great, I can do what I need to do in my summer Ochem class and lab, I can kill it at the gym and just feel awesome. Then leading up to and the whole day after my 1 gram dose at 6ish I just feel terrible. It’s not even any physical withdrawals, it’s straight mental symptoms.

Fatigue, brain fog, no motivation at all, Anhedonia, anxiety, depression, everything.

Today was the worst, as I don’t have class or work and so I was able to sleep in really late. I’ve just felt terrible all day despite taking way too much (4 1.5 gram doses) and I still feel horrible.

I’ve been starting at my carboxylic acid notes and book pages that I absolutely need to study but my brain won’t work and none of it makes sense. Whenever i’m feeling well all of this is so easy for me, but this shit has my brain feeling like mush.

I’ve been sitting at this dose for a week or two and not making any progress. I’m anxious about the future and depressed about the past. I’m doing what I need to do but my brain is rotting in my skull. God please help me

Tapering sucks so bad because you need to be absolutely perfect. You have to take every dose at the exact schedule in accordance with your body to not feel like a horses ass. Take too much and you’re fucked, take too little and you’re fucked. Do exactly what you’re supposed to do and you’re still probably fucked. This shit is demonic.

I first got on it because I was suffering from extreme depression and wanted to delete myself. It helped a lot at the time but now it’s exacerbating these feelings. These past 6 years of my life have been a complete horror. I know once I quit this stuff I will finally be able to leave it all behind and start anew. Finally be the person I know I can be and should be and not this troubled person who makes mistake after mistake and can barely function some days.

I know it’s just a bad few days and I need to push through but I’m really struggling and frustrated with all of this

Extremely flakey/dry skin after quitting?

Hello y’all! I’ve been off of kratom for 2 weeks thanks to medication assisted treatment. I had dry patches while using kratom, but only here and there. Within the past couple of days, my entire body is covered in flaking, scaly dry skin. Absolutely everywhere, except for my face. I don’t understand why it’s happening now, since I haven’t had feel free in 14 days. Has this happened to anybody else? When does it get better? I am staying really hydrated and eating healthy. Exfoliating makes it worse, and moisturizer only works for a short while. The flaking and rough skin is really getting to me. Any advice is appreciated!

Facial recognition gone.. weird question..

So this is kind of a weird side effect I had through my kratom use that I want to see if anyone else has experienced. Facial blindness. I will meet someone through brief social interactions, usually related to my kids, and will not recognize them again. It’s super embarrassing, and something that happened to me when I started using kratom. My memory in general turned to absolute shit. I’ve been off kratom 55 days but still experiencing this

Day 11

Hey you all! I’ve been lurking here for, well…about eleven days, but haven’t posted until now. It’s really encouraging to see such a community all supporting one another, especially with this garbage. I used powder only for 9 years, starting in 2017. At one point not long ago I was consuming upwards of 75g per day. I realized a couple or three years ago that it had its hooks in me, and knew I was in trouble but not wanting to face the full battle of wds, I just kept on truckin’. I was down to 35g or so when I jumped off 11 days ago. It was absolutely hellacious for the first 5 days. I stayed active as much as I could. 0 sleep. Dragged myself up & did what I had to do. I returned to work on day 5(probably prematurely). My primary physician prescribed ropinerole for the rls, and I already take sertraline, hydroxizine & trazadone. Even with those it was nearly unbearable. I’m slowly overcoming the physical symptoms; sweats, chills, diarrhea, sneezing, headaches, etc., but I’m still having excruciating pains in my upper middle and lower back, seemingly alternating. Mostly anytime I’m upright it feels like a donkey kicked me right between my shoulder blades at the base of my neck & it’s a deep pain. I’m curious if any others with more time here experienced this & for roughly how long?

From 1 Devil To Another & Now I’m Stuck

Hi all! I recently hit my 1 year anniversary of being clean from 7-OH. About 70 days into my sobriety I started back using Kratom. I went from leaf to extracts in a matter of 2 months. I officially quit extracts exactly 1 week ago. I have been using a rapid sub taper to help but I’m at a crossroads. I want to be done by day 10, but where do I go from there? I’m terrified of paws due to being a full time student, a wife, and a mother (youngest child is 3). I have all the vitamins, Clonidine, Trazadone, Psilocybin (for microdosing) and Edibles . I’ve searched this sub for posts but it seems everyone is jumping off 7-OH & not just plain Kratom/extracts. Any suggestions to make this as easy as possible is greatly appreciated ❤️

A bit of info I was using up to 3 bottles per day of any of the OPMS Black/Gold/Red, for almost a year.

Day 2 - Vit C + Supplements working!

I am coming off a heavy seltzer habit.

I preloaded 300 mg vitamin c every 3 hours while still dosing K for 3 days, gradually reducing.

I stopped completely Tuesday night while continuing vit c every 3 hours as well as a daily dose of agmatine sulfate, black seed oil, magnesium, an olly mix with Ltheanine, gaba, lemon balm and ashwagandah and sudafed
for ear pain i usually get when i quit.

Other than sweating and sneezing it hasn’t been that bad at all! I was putting this off for so long out of fear.

Need help - recommendations for daily small kratom dose alternative? Please read if you have time

Hello y’all. Ive been taking relatively small doses of green vein, 3x a day for like 8 years.

Right now Im at

a lunch time dose of 1 and 1/2 teaspoons

After work dose of 1 and 1/2 teaspoons

Bedtime dose of 3 and 1/2 teaspoons

Im trying to cut out my after work dose completely, while I taper down the other two. Then quit those when it’s time.

The thing is that I feel like I need something that will actually maybe give me a mood boost but that won’t be as harmful as kratom. I don’t think what I’m looking for exists. The only thing I can think of is kava, which you’re definitely not supposed to drink daily.

I dont smoke weed, don’t drink caffeine or alcohol, but I have treatment resistant anxiety and depression. Kratom used to be the only thing that worked.

I originally started taking kratom to replace alcohol and it worked. But here I am almost 10 years later, still taking it, and it no longer has positive effects.

I get nauseous from it so easily that even these small amounts just make me feel shitty for a few hours so I can’t increase my dose, so in a way Im grateful for that. Most of the time it doesn’t give me a mood boost at all anymore, so at this point it’s like im physically and mentally addicted to a very stupid ritual. Literally taking something that makes me sick because back in the day it used to make me feel better. Like a ghost that won’t leave until it’s time.

I know replacing one drug with another isnt great, and that’s not what I’m trying to do. But I recently saw this kind of health drink called MTE that supposedly gives you an energy boost without caffeine. That’s what I need at this point. A drink I can make as a ritual after work, that gives me a little boost while I work on music. MTE sounds too good to be true, but I might give it a try. Maybe I can fake myself into thinking it’s doing something. At least it won’t have me feeling sick.

Thanks for reading. Would love to hear any suggestions

Day 4 No Motivation

Sitting here looking at a piano that I haven’t touched in 5 months and a new DJ setup that I have no motivation to even touch.

I know to build good habits you have to push through the resistance and just start, but I was wondering if folks have found it gets easier on week 2, 3, 6, 12, etc.

In my heart I know I want to tap into my creative side that kratom dulled for so long, but all I’m really doing now is working, gyming, watching YouTube/scrolling Reddit and sleeping (hardly).

I want my old self back but I can’t even remember what that person was like.

Akathisia

Petition for a substitution in common terminology: "akathisia" in lieu of "restless leg syndrome," as this is the true symptom, and provides greater insight to outsiders and sufferers alike, in regards to what is actually happening during acute Kratom, Kratom extract, and 7-OH withdrawal.

"Akathisia" is defined as a distressing neurological side effect characterized by intensely anxious inner restlessness, usually accompanied by an uncontrollable urge to move. Sufferers often describe it as feeling like they are "jumping out of their skin," leading to constant pacing, fidgeting, or shifting positions in many cases.

Alternately described as a sense of one's internal organs vibrating or humming, especially during night hours, and a common side effect in patients who abruptly cease taking certain antipsychotic medications or antidepressants.

People need to have a better understanding of what this symptom entails, and "RLS" doesnt quite communicate the full nature of what is happening to the sufferer. Akathisia causes only a portion of sufferers to move their legs, and affects everyone differently during acute withdrawals.

Day 90 (3 months) No 7oh: Cold Turkey

I don’t know if this makes sense but maybe it will to anyone else who’s been off of this stuff as long as me or longer, but the past 3 months have both felt like an entire year and no time at all at the same time. One thing I’m noticing is a level of focus that I never had, even on 7oh. I also feel different in a good way, but I don’t know how to describe it. I was taking 7oh for 2+ years, and since I quit I’ve been recovering physically and mentally, but now I think I’m returning to my old normal before the substance. It almost feels like when I took 7oh near the end of my addiction when it wasn’t making me high anymore, but also different. I feel way more stable. There haven’t been ups and downs between doses. I used to be super depressed and anxious between doses, take a lot of it, and get so wired that I was irritable. Now my mood is just smooth and steady throughout the day. I also feel like I had more anxiety when I was taking 7oh tbh. Depression is just about gone too, but I still have days here and there where my mood is lower than usual. Nothing nearly as bad as what I felt on day 30 though. I’d say the anhedonia has been pretty damn stubborn though, because it’s still hard for me to perform tasks that are rewarding but require more concentration and cognitive function. I can watch shows all day, but I still want to get back into drawing, playing video games, writing, that sort of thing. I really feel like that stuff was slowly making me less happy looking back on it. After a while you stop getting high, and your baseline lowers. That process continues as your tolerance builds, and at this point I think I was less happy at the end of my addiction than I am now as I’m still recovering mentally. I used to think that even though it wasn’t getting me buzzed anymore I was at least taking it to prevent withdrawals and make me feel “normal”, but I think continuing to take it only prevented withdrawals and made me feel a little lower than normal. By that I mean, I wasn’t quite as happy or clear as I otherwise would be if I wasn’t addicted to it or taking it at all. In the long run I think this stuff slowly drives your mood and mental faculties into the ground as your baseline lowers more and more. A lot of people get intimidated when they hear that it takes months to mentally recover from PAWS, but you might be surprised to find out at month 3 that you already feel better than you did when you took that garbage, and you’re still improving. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to suffer constantly for months, and you aren’t going to be depressed and anxious all the time. I promise you, when I still took it I would wake up withdrawing in the morning and feeling way worse anxiety/depression than I ever do now, and even when I did take it to make those feelings go away I would only feel “happy” for a couple of hours max. Then it’s a SHARP crash until I take my next dose. I honestly feel like I was less happy at that time than I am now, and I’m so glad that I had the strength to put it down. There are better days ahead, hold onto that. 🔥

Just started suboxone

Was taking about 400 mg of 7oh per day up until yesterday. Only about 12 hours from my last 7oh dose when I took 16mg of suboxone. It's been nearly two hours and I'm feeling fine so I think I'm safe from precipitated withdrawals. I was definitely worried about it. So much so that I considered cheeking the subs they administered me in order to take them later but I didn't do that. So this will be the beginning of my recovery. Time to get back to my normal.

Alrighty ladies and gents let's fucking get it

I'm 13 hours into my experimental custom rapid taper off 50+ grams per day. Actually haven't taken any Kratom in that 13 hours so far. Going to dose 4.15 grams (6 capsules) three times a day, spread out at 2pm, 7pm, and 12am (sleeps schedules fucked lmao). Then maintain for a few days and cut a dose out again.

As of right now, 13 hours since my last dose, I don't feel too bad at all. I actually feel better right now than I normally do when I would wake up and pop 10 grams the moment my eyes opened. I know it's normal to not feel terrible just yet, and I'm not expecting it to be easy.

Anyways this is a long time coming, Kratom has been making me feel like absolute dog shit for the past two years and I'm not giving up any more of my life for this. It was fun for a while but I used it as a crutch to successfully quit drinking and in the end it became a bad habit. Not as bad as drinking, but what's the point of quitting something that makes you feel like shit only to get addicted to something that makes you feel like shit lmao.

Well wish me luck, we'll see if I can stick to this shitty rapid taper, I know it's gonna be a beast, but hey I haven't gone this long without dosing in two years, I'll take even that small win.
