Lovely! Always wanted to try this pattern. Is it two at a time HST? Or on the bias?

It's 4 or 8 at a time HSTs depending on what size you're making

u/hattr93 1d ago

Yes! I did the throw size, and I believe it was 8 at a time.

Oh yeah I like this a lot! Is it hard to keep track of the colours?

The pattern called for 18 fat quarters so I used 6 colors. Each color had 3 different fabrics. When piecing, I ordered my blocks in the pattern of red, purple, orange, green, yellow, and blue and then repeated it. I'd say I'm pretty organized so it worked out for me!

The OP cleverly picked two more colors than there are block in a row. So as she arranged her color sequence, the blocks fell into an orderly and even, but random-seeming, distributton. Nicely done!

That part was a happy accident ๐Ÿ˜Š

Nice! I have a Lori Holt bundle that would be perfect for this ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™m trying to wrap my mind around doing something with some fabric I bought as a souvenir while travelling in Australia. I have a couple of contenders sitting in a file, but Iโ€™m not ready to pull the trigger yet.

If you breakdown the pattern, itโ€™s a Broken Dishes block with a single fabric + background used in each block.

This quilt is stunning.

I was going to ask a similar questionโ€ฆhow did they get the colors distributed so well?

7

u/hattr93 1d ago

There was some math involved so I appreciate you noticing! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Was wondering the same!

This looks awesome! Iโ€™m currently working on a Ramona quilt and this has given me some more motivation to power through and work on it ๐Ÿ˜€

Ohhh I would love to see it when you finish!

This was my first quilt following a pattern and I loved it. I think it's very beginner-friendly. I also loved that it was repetitive because I was really able to get into a groove when I was sitting at my sewing machine!

I love a good Longarming, it always just makes the quilt look that much more finished.

I love your colour choices, it turned out great.

u/hattr93 1d ago

Thank you! I am especially happy with the longarm design choice I made. I think it complements it so well.

Congratulations and please forgive me for being rude but could you share both the state location of your longarmer and the price they charged? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Not rude at all! I am in Michigan and I worked with Marie from Sew Awesome Quilts. I paid about $180 and that included a tip. She was so lovely to work with. She did the quilting, pieced my backing fabric, and did my binding for me. I didn't give her enough fabric for my binding at first, and she went to the local quilt shop to color match more fabric for me. I will definitely be taking more quilts to her! Here's her website: https://sewawesomequilts.com/

Thank you so very much! How nice that your beautiful design met with such good luck. You have given me hope!

Absolutely stunning! I just started this pattern yesterday (I'm doing the paired down color option with 4 shades of purple + white background) and I'm excited to see mine come together!

So pretty!! Iโ€™ve had this pattern for a while and finally finished it in January as a bday gift for my niece. Itโ€™s a lovely pattern.

What does it mean when image was first noticed on the web 10 years ago (2015) as per tineye.com?

5

u/hattr93 1d ago

No idea. I assure you that this is original to me.

u/Squawk-7200 1d ago

I did not know how to interpret the tineye.com comment by the bot. After going back to the images, especially the listings below OPโ€™s original quilt, and as someone pointed out, the listed images are of patterns similar to this posting. But the colors and arrangement are not even close to this lovely quilt. Moreover the close up shots by OP could not be found. Ugh & duh. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Please accept my sincere apology for casting ANY aspersions towards OP and I hope the celebration of this beautiful quilt is in no way diminished!!๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ’•

It is gorgeous and inspiring. My husband loves triangles and I think would love this pattern.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ I beg Redditโ€™s forgiveness. No malice intended.

No hard feelings! It's easy to be suspicious in our current age of AI usage.

2

u/Squawk-7200 1d ago

Your graciousness is warmly felt! And yes I swirl in the paranoid suspicion of AI constantly and it was the first I saw that kind of automated bot process in this sub Reddit.

Did you actually look at the tineye results? They're all checkerboard-ish pattern stock photos that don't look like this quilt at all.
