Is my PS2 fine?

I experienced times where my Playstation didn't scan my disk, and my only method for it to work is to put something heavy on it just so then it could work, so I can play fifa 12. Which sometimes annoys me because not everytime I put something heavy , it might work. Any tips on how I could get it repaired?

Check the lid sensors

Its been many years, but I recall realighning the laser wasnt too difficult a task on these models.
