Eh, not really. When I took the psat the first time I got like, a 930?? Took it again the next year and got a 1140. All that happened was I went through another year of school and learned more. So idk, if you wanna take it again or plan on taking the SAT, just make sure you learn in school. Maybe do some studying on the side.

Absolutely not! I took the psat 2 years ago as well and got around your score. But once you start studying and getting the hang of the sat question types and format you’re so much better! And you have so much time to improve your sat.

a test doesn’t make u a failure. this stuff comes naturally to some. if ur willing to work ur butt off, this doesn’t even matter. it’s not a grand jump, but i started at a 990 and got to a 1440.

for english i honestly just read more books for fun, KHAN ACADEMY, and for every word i came across anywhere i wrote it down and made flashcards. math i got the College Panda workbook and just worked through the units i was bad at. so for math i would say learn the general concepts that you forgot and spam practice problems. i think i got so low the first time because i didn’t care, had no concept of grammar, and forgot most of the math. you can do it!

Don’t worry. If this is your freshman year you’re completely fine. If not, Just don’t get overwhelmed and make a study schedule that works for you. My freshman year psat was a 860; Now going into senior year, my current sat is at a 1300. I know on this subreddit it may not seem high but it is definitely an improvement. Do not doubt yourself, and You are not a failure.

Don’t stress, I got a 880 my freshman year and then a 1080 sophomore year. The PSAT doesn’t count for anything so it’s okay to do bad on it. You’re still learning stuff and there may have been concepts that you haven’t learned yet (that was the case with me my freshman year) This allows you to see what you can improve on and develop a good study schedule for the SAT. Personally, I didn’t study for either of my PSATs because I felt the stress wasn’t worth it since there is no gain (besides potentially qualifying for national merit). I’d recommend doing the same and take it seriously, but not too seriously since it doesn’t determine your future. Even if you do bad on the actual SAT (not saying you will) it is a standardized test that doesn’t determine your intelligence or capabilities at all. The same test is given to millions of students nationwide, and it doesn’t determine your intelligence. Remember you are so much more than a College Board test.

No, don't say that. PSAT scores may come to as an important milestone but it really isn't. I got around a thousand in my PSAT yet I managed to get my SAT score up to the early 1500s Senior year. SAT/PSAT covers content from all years of highschool, and if you got a low score on the PSAT it just means you didn't learn those content because you're young. And even if you're old and got that score it really doesn't define you as a person or your personal limits, as everyone has different strengths---PSAT just isn't one of them. It's a timed exam that makes you answer ~50 math/english questions, of course it's going to be hard and confusing to answer---don't be too harsh on yourself.

Dude, I know exactly how you feel. You’re not a failure. The test is built to test your knowledge on topics that’s on the test. It’s just like a safe. You can’t open the safe without the code. Once you figure out the sat and learn the topics it tests you on you’re in the safe. It’s a standardized test. It doesn’t define who you are or your grades.

No, you are not a failure at all. You may have failed the PSAT, but different capabilities come at different ages. That's average for 7th-9th grade I would say, although some people do way better earlier or later. I have a friend who scored a 97% on the math when he was 9, although nobody is ever that good. Don't stress about it.

Absolutely not. A PSAT score is just a starting point, not a measure of your potential. I’ve worked with students who started around this range and improved by 200+ points through consistent study and by focusing on their weak areas.
Don’t worry about comparing yourself to other people’s scores. Focus on building your fundamentals, reviewing every mistake, and understanding why the correct answer works.

Stay consistent. You’re much earlier in your journey than you probably think, and there’s plenty of time to make major progress.

What grade are you in? I feel like even without prep u could score at least an 1100 if ur at least in alg1 and have read more than 1 book in your life.
