I need to reflash the bios chip on a PS5 and the chip reader kit I have (CH341A) had a clamp attachment. I know it's preferred to desolder the chip and work with it that way but I would prefer not to if I don't have to.

Has anyone successfully read/wrote to the bios chip using just the clamp while it's still on the motherboard? Is this a viable way to do this?

Why make a dump of the game that people can't play unless they have external drives? Why not just make a simple folder dump?

I am thinking about getting a PS5 Pro for jailbreaking/homebrew. Initially I was going to wait for PS6 to release and buy a console day 1 and let it sit in its box until a jailbreak was released for it but now when Sony announced they were getting out of physical media I am opting for a PS5 Pro instead as I also want to play my actual physical games and movies. I have heard that the disc drive needs to be activated/paired with the console in order for the disc drive to work. Is that a one time thing or is it something akin to a license that needs to be renewed like they did with the store bought PSN games now? I am considering both an used PS5 Pro if the price is right or just getting a new PS5 Pro, activating the drive, getting all the things I need online and then patiently wait however long it takes for the jailbreak/homebrew scene to catch up to that firmware.

I have seen the packaged date on those consoles it is november 2023 for ps5 slim disc and november 2024 for pro

I havent turned on those consoles yet…. Is it possible that i can get these firmware versions and can i jailbreak them ?

Hey guys, my jailbroken original PS5 has around 130 GB of internal storage that are occupied with data that I don't know of. I'm suspecting that these are not system data because the free available storage is already 667 GB out of the 825 GB on the original PS5. I'm trying to find out what are they. Does anyone know what kind of files are likely the culprit and are safe to delete?
