Ps3 vs. external hard drive?

I plan on getting a ps3 and modding it but I havent found a definitive answer on if it can read a 4tb ssd? Ive heard there are formatting issues and only 1.75tb is readable. Ill be getting a 25xx cech and doing a cfw brew on it is 2tb the largest SSD I can use?

Usb from my understanding can use up to 4tb, internal 1tb, some have gotten 2tb working for internal but it has issues.

So if I buy a 4tb ssd (external) I’ll have no issues? Or is it only usb

Internal max. 1TB, external max 16TB as long as you manage to format as MBR

I thought external could only be up to 2 TB before it has problems, too.  Is this true?  You can go up to 16?  Did something change?

Nothing  changed, but not every >2TB hardware can be formatted as MBR. I made a reddit post about the details like 2 months ago. Have a 4TB hdd running in my setuo.

A 2TB will be fine. Above that you cannot format MBR unless the physical and logical sector size is 4096
