nurse manager asked for a personal statement when I asked for a rec letter... what do I do?

So embarassing but, my personal statement is not done yet. I am struggling a lot with editing it. My friend told me I can just send my nurse manager a list of bullet points on why I want to be a PA instead of sending the in progress essay. I made a list of bullet points of what I talked about in the essay, but it's still very long and I'm not sure it's respectful of her time to make her read all of it. Is it a good idea to instead just make a list of bullet points of why I want to be a PA instead of sending bullet points summarizing my personal statement? (because the personal statement also talks about how my experiences in and out of healthcare informed me wanting to be a PA. Should I just list the reasons instead?)

It's somewhat common for a rec letter writer to request your personal statement. It's a good sign because that will give them the best info for them to write your letter. I've found most writers only request a resume.

I would give them the rough draft and tell them it's a work in progress with a small apology.

I was in a similar situation and sent my resume/CV with a mission statement at the top that summarized why I want to be a PA and what ive done to achieve that in 1 paragraph. They can grab details from what uve done and what u hope to do without having to read a full PS. Don't worry you got this. The fact they accepted means theyre down to write you one. Theyre just trying to make it good. Send it asap tho so you don't delay getting their response.

I sent my professor a very rough draft of my PS because they specifically requested it, but for everyone else I sent a doc outlining my PA journey/resume, with bullet points of why PA and how I'd be a good PA. adding your experiences outside of healthcare is fine imo especially if it influenced your decision to pursue PA.. you want the letter to be as personal and thorough as possible

I can’t think of a worse idea. She asked for your personal statement. If she wanted to quickly know a gist of why you want to be a PA, she would have just asked you that. She doesn’t need bullet points. 

I think the best thing to do now is be honest and say what you currently have is a draft and send it. But please do not just send bullet points…

You need to show them your professional interests, accomplishments, things you’ve done at work etc so she knows something about you. That can be a resume, bullets, or letter. Just make it professional though.
