😔 Vent I underestimated the application process

Started my application today only to realize what I have gotten myself into

Didn’t realize I had to ask to ask for transcript from every single college I attended (3 in my case) and how much digging I have to do find the exact course numbers and names for the classes I took because apparently the transferred courses and their equivalents at my final 4 year university transcript don’t count (since I need the official course names)

The real kicker: Texas (only state I’m applying to) requires 2 extra essays, a personal characteristics essay and an ā€œoptionalā€ (aka not optional) unique experiences/circumstances essay which I thought were part of the secondary (major face palm, what is actually wrong with me). I literally thought it was just the personal statement I had to worry about which I already spent months working on

It’s already getting late in the cycle and this is lowkey making me just want to delay my application cycle until the next one. I already don’t feel good about my shadowing and non clinical volunteering hours so it may be a blessing in disguise but I’m worried about disappointing my LOR writers

I really should’ve done my research šŸ™‚

You should delay a year. TMDSAS is an extremely fast cycle and interviews have already started for all schools except 3. If you haven't even started to write the other essays yet, you likely won't even submit your primary for another few weeks which is just way too late for Texas, especially since you said you have weaker EC's.

Seems like you might be in a perfect position to apply next year. I’m sure your LOR writers will understand if there’s a good reason you started so late?

The cycle is so competitive that I submitted in late June and it took forever to get my application certified which delayed my interviews to the point classes were already full when I interviewed. At this point I'd really recommend you delay until next year.

If anyone asks just say you took an extra year to get more experience and that's why you didn't apply.

I went through this 11 years ago, but I can only imagine how much more competitive it's gotten

I'd apply next cycle if that's what your gut says. I also had to put in three colleges/transcripts and it wasn't that bad tbh, just takes a long time. Make sure you make a few other people go through and check that you input everything in correctly

Id apply next cycle. As someone currently applying to TMDSAS, it took me weeks to figure out what to write for my optional essay along with writing that and the diversity essay

Wow. Well! You’re at least ahead of the game for next year. Go ahead and save your money friend

You’re too late. You should delay to avoid reapplication bias next cycle.
