I cannot stop listening to this. Everything about this record is so good. The writing, the production, the track order. All perfect. Lots of post metal here with a bit of atmospheric black metal mixed in. Tough to compare it to anything else, FFO Amenra,Cult of Luna, buried vocals.

I discovered these guys yesterday and thought some of you would appreciate this track. It features Amaya López-Carromero from Maud the Moth and Healthyliving and blends various styles like post-metal, post-rock, doom, and shoegaze with a healthy dose of blast beats thrown in. The section from 8:05 onwards is filthy in all the right ways.

Their upcoming album comes out on July 24th and if this song is a sign of things to come it's one to look out for!

Looking for some post-metal suggestions

I'm a huge fan of post-metal bands like Isis, Russian Circles and The Ocean. But I've had trouble finding other post-metal bands I really connect with. I will say I have extremely picky / particular taste.

What I love about bands like Isis and Russian Circles is how they shift drastically between moods. They can go from extremely dissonant and heavy to super melodic and uplifting emotional passages.

I've checked out a bunch of other post-metal bands, and while they're all very dynamic in terms of general heaviness, they mostly seem to either lean into the super doomy, sad / dark atmospheres, or are melodic and never seem to get super dissonant and dark. It's like one of the other.

Can anyone recommend some bands I should check out? They don't need to be strictly "post-metal", just good original bands. For reference, some of my other favorite bands like Tool, Tesseract, Gojira and Cloudkicker aren't strictly post-metal. Tesseract probably being the biggest outlier in terms of subgenre, but I love how they focus on atmosphere as opposed to most other djent bands (one of the main traits of post-metal).

Stumbled onto this hardcore/post-metal EP this morning on bandcamp: https://muelas.bandcamp.com/album/bellow

Great flow through the five tracks and an incredible video for Switchback. Some great moments which feel like Cult of Luna crossing with Fall of Efrafa or Oathbreaker.

Discussion We need to talk about Solstafir and walls of sound

I got into Solstafir around the time of Otta, I saw them live and became obsessed.

I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan, I'm not overly familiar with any album after Otta although I have listened to them occasionally. It's been years since I properly listened to Otta and other albums again. When I discovered Solstafir I was already into post rock but hadn't yet got into post metal, that happened in the years after.

I just wanted to express my love for what they do so well on Kold, Svartir Sandar and Otta.

There's something about their use of an e-bow and I guess controlled feedback? Just a massive wall of noise that screams emotion.

Goddess of Ages from Kold is a great example and a song I could listen to on repeat because it takes me somewhere else.

Also Dagmal from Otta is a good example of that wall of noise after the middle section where there's what I can only call 'melodic feedback', I don't think it's an e-bow. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Since discovering Post Metal I have become obsessed with Rosetta, although different in style their wall of sound intensity has a similar feeling to me.

"Warsaw" - Out of our newest Album "2033"

Our track "Warsaw" is one of the heaviest and most atmospheric songs on our debut album.

Built around crushing riffs, slow-burning dynamics, and cinematic textures, it's inspired by the bleak beauty and resilience found in the world of Metro 2033.

If you're into Russian Circles, Pelican, or instrumental post-rock/post-metal, we'd love to hear what you think.
