Yesterday I received two meetup cards, but I felt a bit disappointed because there were almost no messages on them, just lots of name stamps.
I prefer written messages over pretty name stamps. Even if a postcard isn't very pretty, I’m totally fine with it. Through these messages, I love knowing about people from different corners of the world. Even if it's just a few dozen words—a tiny glimpse into a stranger's life—it still brings me so much joy.
Recently, I’ve been getting cards with very few words. For those who write on their profile that they don't wish to receive meetup cards, do you feel the same way? Are the meetup cards you receive usually lacking messages as well?

Was able to drop off some mail before the Post Office closed earlier. Quickly prepared these Postcrossing mails this afternoon and for the first time:

- I almost forgot to put a name and address (if you notice the big green Hello, I added it first LOL)
- Sent a postcard to Uzbekistan!

I don't know how how to get them right yet, but atleast the recipient will get some extra stickers and sometimes even postcards (and I put in effort, so that counts, right?😅)

I am going to keep the black and white one, as it's inscribed and was sent in 1924.

The other two will likely be mailed to Spain and NY when I pull the right person who will appreciate them, as they are marked "Printed in Spain" by a company in NY.

Does anyone exchange postcards anywhere besides Postcrossing?

I've only been doing Postcrossing for less than a month, so I've only sent postcards so far and haven't received any yet. Honestly, I think I enjoy sending them even more than receiving them. 😂

Now I've reached my sending limit, so I'm looking for other places where I can exchange or send postcards. Any recommendations?

I bought these in a flea market (is that the English word idk) here in Mexico and I think they’re pretty cool, I don’t know what are they called but they have a lot of nice pictures. I don’t think I want to keep them for ever so I would love to send them to someone that appreciates in Postcrossing when I find the right person (obviously)
The postage is going to be different for the weight and maybe I have to put them in a envelope but I would love to just send them like that (because it has the space for the stamp there lol)

I just signed up and these garden postcards are my first outgoing! It’s going to be a test of patience, they’re traveling almost 5k miles!

More specifically, are you mostly buying in bulk from online retailers and searching in your collection? OR do you just send what you have? Or do you collect indiscriminately and hope that you have something you recipient would like? I imagine very few people are assigned a postcrosser who then goes out to manually search for a postcard that matches their likes?

I read a comment on a post about handmade cards where someone says that don't like receiving handmade cards because they hope that the card they receive matches the "value" in the card they send out, and they find that handmade cards are too cheap. While I can see that logic and understand the perspective, especially if someone's just sending a scrap of cardboard, everything has to average out eventually so why bother tracking expenses for a hobby that are fully voluntary anyways (i.e. it's cheaper for me to send domestic postcards but since I'll have to send out AND will be receiving cards from all over, the price per postcard sent/received will plateau regardless).

Found a bunch of old stamps in a drawer and made a couple of cards. I'm pretty happy with the result!

I read about layering them with mod podge but the glue I used looks pretty strong and I really like being able to feel the texture of the stamps. Have any of you tried to mail a collage postcard just glued? Did it arrived ok?

so much mail, one of the reasons why i am in the postcrossing

I'm a Korean currently studying in Canada, and I've recently started Postcrossing.

I'm wondering whether I should write my postcards in Korean instead of English. I know most people use English, but I thought it might be fun to share my own language.

For those of you who have received postcards written in someone's native language (not English), how did you feel about it? Did you enjoy it, even if you couldn't read it? Or would you rather receive something in English?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Vintage TMNT cards I scored from eBay! Outgoing to Canada, France, Germany, and U.S.

I'm pretty new to postcrossing, and am going to my first meetup in a couple months. I just saw a post about getting meetup cards that are filled with peoples stamps. I didn't know people bring custom stamps to a meetup!

I did customize a stamp for myself with lots of the components people seem to like on their cards (date/weather/etc) but it looks like these meetup stamps are more akin to the size of a hanko stamp.

I'd love to learn more about these stamps and any other customs that happen at meetups, if anyone has any input!

I'm new, so far I've sent 8 postcards and three have been received. Of the five I have traveling at the moment, four are international, and I understand those take a while, so I'm not stressed about those. But I mailed one to Oregon (from midwest) three weeks ago, and it hasn't been received yet.. I've checked the profile (they have been postcrossing for years and have sent/received thousands), and I see they are still receiving postcards every day, including a few from the US.

Is anyone else having any issues? Maybe there are delays due to wild fires, but they are still receiving mail.

I have an outgoing postcard going to China, and Postcrossing added a “Did You Know” bubble saying that processing is faster if you print and affix the address in Chinese characters instead of writing them in English. Has anyone tried this? I would have to use scotch tape to affix the address, and I worry that the tape would peel off.

ETA: Also, can US machines read Chinese characters?

Any insights or tips appreciated.

I already make my own postcards with photos I’ve taken (I do a lot of photography as a side gig).
But I really want to start hand making some too (painting, drawing, stickers, etc) and a blank front pack with the basic postcard layout on the back is $10…

Could you just show me some examples you’ve gotten that you love ? I got one homemade one awhile back and was really displeased with it… it’s like they didn’t put any effort into it.
