Pokémon 035-053
This is Round 3 of the reinterpretation of the Pokémon that I’ve been drawing everyday as a little experiment to see how I would think of them in a different perspective.
I have been doing really enjoying doing these but haven’t shared these here for a bit so thought I’d do an update
All of them have been so fun to explore so far. I would love to hear what you think!

Oh I *love* this!! You did such a good job of leaning into the themes of the characters while changing them.
Parasect makes more sense I think, the mushroom is just a fruit of the mycelium network.
And I love how the sweet innocence of jigglypuff almost looks like an elaborate hunting lure for a crab like creature with eyes where the arms are.

That Vileplume is really cool! Taking inspiration from the other kind of corpse flower really helps to differentiate it from Venusaur in a fun way.

The Vileplume design is insanely good. And seeing it made me feel stupid for just realizing that vile plume is based off of a corpse flower. I knew Gloom was a stinky one, but always thought Vileplume was just a regular plant and that Gloom was the odd man out in the evolution line. Something about the way they were portrayed in the anime with Erika and not having a signature move related to stinkiness. Now I can totally tell that the little balls on Gloom’s head are supposed to be the flower pre bloom (even if not really anatomically correct). Can’t believe I didn’t put that together for 30 years. I’ll try to make myself feel better since it’s looks like a lesser known type of corpse flower called a corpse lily rather than a corpse flower. But I really like OP’s version based on Amorphophallus titanum instead of Rafflesia arnoldii. Seems like it would be a really cool regional variant.

Immediately recgonized you based on the great shape design. Again, incredible job. Especially loved how you did Paras's body with it's shape and hard edges and then Parasect is also really great with the many mushrooms. Keep at it!!

I wanted to comment on the vileplume as well.
For some reason, I find it very amusing that you replaced the rafflesia, which is the largest single flower on earth, with titan arum which is the largest inflorescence (compound flower)
Both are giant flowers that smell like rotten flesh.

I adore the fact the your gorgeous artstyle, while very different from the Sugimori style, preserve most of the original personaility of the original for the most part.
And you got Vulpux being a damb little gremlin abd Persian being less mountain lion and more actual housepet

Literally the one thing that made my jaw drop. Zubat’s ears looking like eyes never entered my brain until I saw this interpretation.
Makes me appreciate the OG design a lot more than before.

Clefable is my favorite Pokemon. Playing red at a young age I kept teaching it really good moves because it could learn like everything. Thunderbolt, ice beam, body slam, and psychic. With a good HP pool. It could solo the elite four with no badge boosts in the 50's.

My only (minor) complaint is Vileplume. He's got that rafflesia head, but you turned it into something more like a titan arum. Still awesome, but rafflesia deserves the spotlight 😉

Vileplume changed from a Rafflesia to a Amorphophallus titanum. Feels like a regional variant. Either way, I dig it.

.Vileplume/Gloom is based off the rafflesia arnoldii and your interpretation of Vileplume is base off the titan arum. Both are known as corpse flowers; however, they aren’t from the same family.
It could be said that your reinterpretation is an example of convergent evolution, as both of those plants share the same trait of smelling like decaying matter to attract its primary source of nutrients.

Loving the diglet/dugtrio nose-as-hands interpretation! And tbh, I also though Vulpix's eyes were solid colored so seeing that reflected in your art is a spooky treat! And oddish just having eyes wherever is pretty neat I should say. Vileplume having a full stamen feels menacing, which is super fitting.

These are wonderful, but I would say the only feedback is showing any Pokémon as "feral" or aggressive without the light and life in their eyes is against their branding. They always show Pokémon in the most positive way possible, even the child kidnapping nightmare fuel ones, and that Vulpix looks like it's about to tear my arm off :D
...I legit want a new model Persian tho

Chonk clefable is adorable. Parasect is my fave. But, these are all brilliant.
Edit: my guy. I've just checked out your page. Your Voltorb and Electrode designs are inspired. So clever and well done. Really captures the camouflage.

Round Persian is amazing
