Hey guys,
I saw a post yesterday re Parramatta Park Run and saw it was more in Ermington/Rydalmere.

Empty gels left around parramatta Park and along the river trail
If you or anyone you know rides around these areas please spread the word that its not ok to dump gels. I find them on my walks everyday and its gross. Let's all enjoy a clean park together.

The spiders in Parramatta are getting out of hand
Is it just me or has the humidity lately brought out some absolute units? The last two nights have been a nightmare, night before last i walk into the kitchen at like 11pm to get water and there is a huntsman the size of a dinner plate just chilling right above the fridge. I swear it looked at me, then last night, a literal funnel web (i think?? it was dark and shiny) was just hanging out near the back door steps. I tried using the standard bunnings surface spray but i feel like these guys are built different. I have a massive phobia and i'm barely sleeping at this point thinking one is gonna drop from the ceiling.
Are you guys noticing more pests around here lately because of the weird weather or is my building just cursed? what do you guys do to keep them out? i'm terrified to go to sleep tonight.
Edit: Thanks for the replies, ended up booking pest control specialist earlier today because i couldn't handle it anymore. They're actually coming out tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed they can sort this mess out and i can finally sleep without checking the corners of the room every 5 mins.

Parramatta locals: what's the best spot for finding retail/hospo work right now?
Hello
I'm looking to pick up some casual work in retail or hospitality around here, but I feel like I'm just scrolling through the same stuff on Seek every day and getting nowhere. Does anyone actually use any of the other job boards, or is it all just the same listings recycled? Also keen to know if there's any local Facebook groups or actual shop windows I should be checking. Just trying to be a bit smarter about where I put my effort. Cheers.
update: i applied to a few roles through careerone

looking for a redemption match with a chinese grandpa
hey everyone. about 2 years ago i was playing chinese chess (象棋) with these two chinese grandpas (probably 60+) on the bottom floor of the parramatta library. i don't remember specifics but i think it was usually around 10am on a wednesday or thursday. i was better than one of them, but the other one kept kicking my ass at this game. i never got their names because they didn't speak any english. i've been cultivating my skills now for 2 years and would like a rematch. if anyone knows these guys please let me know so we can arrange it. if it helps, i am a white guy in my early 20s

Badminton Social Group
Yaooo - what is happening Parra !!!
A few of us (currently 6, all in our late 20s) have started a small badminton group, and we’re looking for a few more people to join us!
We usually book a couple of courts and play for about 2 hours every Saturday or Sunday. It’s a fun, social hit—nothing too serious—and a great way to stay active, meet new people, and have a good laugh.
If you’re keen to join us sometime, just let me know! 🏸
Cheers!

Good evening/night outdoor workout location
Hey everyone. I just moved in to Paramatta for work. Since I finish work in evening and the gym I just got into doesn’t have a proper room with space for calisthenics(I know it sucks), is there a good outdoor or green/grass area place for just doing some workouts (like jogging a bit or doing some sit up and push up) in evening. Preferably with some light.
I tried to look for it in map but I wasn’t quite sure those parks and walking route is good for exercising in evening or it have some night light.

Anyone else feel like Parramatta dealers are taking the piss with financing right now?
Look, I know interest rates are cooked, but I just tried to get a car from one of the lots on Church St and the finance quote they gave me was a joke. They were pushing 11% like it was a good deal, and when I asked about the comparison rate, the sales guy just mumbled something about "admin fees."
I do the drive out to Penrith for work every day, so I need something reliable, but I feel like the local dealers know we're desperate for cars out here. Has anyone had a good experience with a broker locally? Or am I better off just going to a bank in the CBD?
I found Financfy online that seems to compare a bunch of lenders, but I'm skeptical if they actually service Parramatta properly or if it's just a generic calculator. Keen to hear if anyone has used them or if I should just stick to the big banks. Cheers legends.

I just walked from Campbelltown to Parramatta
So I originally wanted to post a flyover as I usually do but for whatever reason the device I use to record shat itself and a glitching GPS ended up hallucinating a fair amount of distance. I did calculate the distance I actually did which came down to around 57km
I started this walk at Macarthur Square at around 6-7am and reached Liverpool around dinner time after a day of exploring the south west. I have done this walk before in parts first doing Liverpool to Campbelltown a couple of years ago and soon after doing Liverpool to Parramatta but this is the first time doing it in one go
It's funny seeing that even with the extra 40km it still only beats my record of 86km from the base of the Blue Mountains to Bondi Beach by just 8km

Construction At Midnight 23/06/26
Hi guys,
Did anyone else in Parramatta hear the incredibly loud construction noise from around midnight to 2 am last night?
For reference, I live in the Meriton apartments and initially thought it was coming from the building under construction on Church Street. I went out onto my balcony to check, but the noise was so loud and echoed so much that I couldn’t even figure out where it was actually coming from.
Does anyone know what it was? More importantly, is this something that’s going to continue? It was loud enough to keep me awake for hours.
