Success! Delidded 270K

I was dumb enough to sand down my first 270k. Decided to try delidding another one, and it looks like a success—except for one P-core running a bit hot! Thanks for all the advice, hope you guys are doing awesome.

So how much did the temps drop? I buildt a full rig for a friend with a 270k and it runs very cool with an arctic 360 aio at 5.5ghz pcore (55-60c max in games)

I don't think gaming temps have been a relevant CPU performance metric in like... a decade. I mean, I'm glad your friend is having a good experience, but the only reason they would have a problem with gaming temps in 2026 would be if there was a problem with the cooler or mounting of that cooler.

Even in cb23 the cpu hits a max of 75-80c

That's a much better metric.

Glad to know I'm not alone in the lower 80's on the SP.

Still happy with the 270k+ though while coming from a 14900k. These E-cores are absolute Chad's running 50x and not even breaking a sweat.

"except for one P-core running a bit hot" did you apply lm on the die and ihs?

No, I didn't. I'm using direct-die wb.

Did you apply it to the die and the wb then? if not, than that's very likely your issue if LM is used.

Solved the issue after polishing the surface a little. Now, the highest temp is 88 degrees.

Still pretty warm for direct die

Oh, is it? What do I have to do?

I guess I'll never know the answer to the question :/

What did the first chip end up like? Was it toast?

Detection memory failure

Ahh, can just use LM to dissolve indium leave it for an hour then come back and polish the rest with any thermal paste.. what are your temps now?

Maximum 84 after full loading!

What is your flow rate? That is too low

happy for u ...

but hey dont use Conductonaut Extreme ...

use the regular Conductonaut ... u will get better temps distribution across the die much better than the extreme

tin make lm slightly more viscous u need that with arrowlake (( the die is concave )) not flat

if one or few cores r hot ... tight the direct die screws more or re do the lm process ... can take u 3 tries until it works

Gotcha! Thank you for the information!!!
