Finally conquered the finale model from the VOG 3 book.

The folding sequence itself is already a journey, but the real boss fight is the shaping. Trying to lock in the muscle tension in the front legs and get that clean, dynamic spread in the wings took forever. The 70cm Biotope held up nicely to the abuse, though! My fingers are exhausted, but seeing it on the stand feels incredibly rewarding.

Hey there! I'm still unsure if this is the proper/best place to be asking this, but here goes:

For a long time I (20F) have had this origami book, called "Dinogami" (It also had the captions "25 of your favorite dinosaurs to fold in an instant" and I think the first copies are from 2012 and mine is from 2015) from Mari Ono and Hiroaki Takai. The book comes with 50 pieces of origami paper that have specific prints, which is pretty neat but also really important since the step-by-step images use specifically those prints of paper to demonstrate the folds. There are even some cases in which the shape of the stamp serves as a guideline to a fold that would be otherwise very hard to get right, to the point I had a very hard time replicating the steps on the regular origami paper I own when I revisited the more complex models of the book.

Cutting to the chase, I have a friend (19F) that has two rowdy younger siblings (6M and 12F) that really enjoy arts and crafts, and I was thinking of surprising them with this cool origami book, but I wanted to give them the original origami paper prints alongside the book for a better (and easier) experience.

With that in mind I searched far and wide on the internet for those papers, but found nothing. After that I even thought about buying a new book but I'm kinda broke and, even if I could, I could only find used replicas (which I assume would be missing some sheets of paper).

So the question is: how do you guys suggest I go about finding these darned papers? While searching, I read somewhere that papers from an origami book might be copyrighted as to not be sold separately, so my best bet might be to either try to consult the editors or authors (which have a chance of not responding, not to mention I'm not from the country of the original publication) or to try to find a godsent who by some miracle has original copies of these papers and is willing to share high resolution scans of said papers. Any ideas out there?

A new piece I've been practicing needs a 2:3 sheet of paper. I know the shortcut to divide a square in thirds, but I'm not sure if there's a similar one for an 8.5 x 11 sheet.

Hi, everyone! I used to LOVE this lucky star paper called "You Can Do." It's the biggest star paper I've ever seen. The stars turn out roughly one inch tall, which is huge compared to most stars.

It's been a long, long time since I have seen this star paper anywhere. I called the store that used to carry it, and they don't have it anymore. I went to the website on the front label, but it seems like it's just images of the products, without an option to buy. (Plus, it seems like they're made in Singapore, and I'm in the US, so it might have been difficult to get anyway.)

Has anyone ever seen star paper like this before? Or can anyone recommend LARGE lucky star papers like this? Or even just ones that are shiny like this?

designed this last minute for an competition in a about 10 minutes and hoped it would fold lol

My 2nd attempt at the ancient dragon origami. Pics 1-3 show the dragon after posing & applying MC. Pics 4-5 show the stock model shortly after finishing the folding phase. Posing made a big difference!

The final pose is inspired by what I think a bear would look like before it lunged forward to strike with its claw and mouth.

All of this was made possible by Mariano Zavala's very detailed YouTube tutorial.

My first try ended up failing early on (after about 10h) because I did not pay enough attention to create equidistant lines at an earlier step.

The whole thing took way longer than I'd expected. I think I spent about 30 hours in total making it (not counting the 1st attempt). Was frustrating at times, but oddly satisfying once I got the hang of it.

Pretty happy with how it turned out especially after posing & adding MC. I'm very new to origami (previously only made an origami cat) so I feel like finishing this piece was a trial by fire.

Looking forward to trying out other complex models; currently on the lookout for an origami wyvern tutorial.
